OMG!! where do i start with this hotel! First of all the food is a disgrace, i ended up eating out every single day.. costing me an extra £200 on top of my holiday as it was that bad! I can only imagine prison food would be better as all there was to eat were horrible pasta and bread. We found 3 cock-roaches in our rooms throughout the week, and the whole place is covered in ants nests. you can't even relax by the pool without getting covered in ants. On top of this they then mucked up our booking and cut our last night off, so for the last night we were basically homeless, and they didnt care. The staff are terrible, grumpy and useless.. don't think we saw them smile all week. Definatly not a family hotel.. and even for youngsters they charge 20 euros to bring someone back for the night lol. The swimming pool is tiny, not enough sunbeds, only one small bar with one member of staff which closes at 10pm! The decor of the place is disgusting, and the rooms dont get cleaned. not one good thing about this hotel! The hotel on the 'inbetweeners movie' is probably better

The best thing about my stay was...

Bit disappointing but good for the money!

Had the most amazing time, but this was purely because of the people I met there, the bar staff was a bit miserable, and last orders at the pool bar was at 11, but also when they turned all the lights off!!! The place was rammed and they may aswell have told us to f off, so so rude, but the rooms were tidy and clean, the pool was nice, and on the last day we managed a smile off the hotel manager. No entertainments apart from ourselves, but it was close to the strip and beach.

The best thing about my stay was...

The people I met!!!

Friendly, clean, excellent location

Arrived at night, and was not impressed. The hotel had misread our booking as 2x2 adult couples and not one family of 5. Our 3 children (16,15 & 10) were offered a twin bedded room across the road whilst our double bedded room was in the main block. However, the staff were v. apologetic and next morning they were moved into the room next door to ours which opened out onto a pretty little courtyard. The hotel consists of the main block which also housed the restaurant and reception, another block to the rear with views to the mountains or over the pool and 2 more blocks across the road with the main bar and cafe. The hotel itself was clean and well maintained, sheets and towels were spotless with the maid coming in every day. Food in the restaurant was fresh and tasty, although there wasn't a massive selection there was always something that appealed. The pool was smallish but big enough for the amount of guests and sunbeds were plentiful, though it should be noted that the shallow end was a couple of feet deep increasing to 10ft at the other end so not really suitable for toddlers to paddle in. The other guests mostly consisted of couples with only a couple of families with children and not many teenagers considering the location, although this was school term time. The hotel itself was in a fairly quiet area, situated between the neighbouring resorts of Stalis/Stalida and Malia but just a short walk to all the bars and shops and a stunning view of the mountains. The sandy beach was just 5 or so minutes walk away. Negatives were a limited AI programme. The 3 meals a day were in strict 2 hour slots and nothing was offered outside of this apart from coffee/tea in the afternoon and drinks from 10am to 11pm which had to be taken at the pool bar. There was no entertainment offered and there was subtle encouragement for guests to use the main bar across the road which was not part of the All Inclusive deal. Luckily, if you do get bored of sitting at the pool bar, local bars and restaurants were falling over themselves to throw cheap drink offers at you. The majority of the other guests were German, however they seemed friendly enough and this wasn't a problem for us. The Triton is an great value hotel with friendly staff in a convenient location I would definitely recommend it as a base for exploring Crete
