Lovely

Had a nice week at this hotel. Nice rooms and facilities that it shares with neighbouring 5* hotel. Location ok- in middle of Sliema, which means in reality it is a bit 10/15 min walk from shops and restaurants. One word of warning is the external functions which run on weekends and can be quite noisy!

The best thing about my stay was...

Being near Sliema

Comfy hotel not far from all you need

We enjoyed our stay very much. Half board was good. Our room was a little noisy (lift mechanism) so they happily moved us to a quieter room. Staff were lovely, helpful and courteous.

The best thing about my stay was...

Quiet and convenient

Perfect stay once again

Greeted by the wonderful Charles on reception, boy is this guy good at his job, nothing too much trouble and a truly genuine human being. Beautiful room with a good sea view, fantastic food in the restaurant. Good location in central location.

a bit datedi

we were on 2nd floor and as you walk along the corridor it smells a bit damp overlaid with cleaning. The room was nice and fresh with a very small balcony overlooking the hospital, spoiled by the hot air from below as we were directly above air con units pointing up. didn't plan to use the balcony much anyway! Beds a bit soft for me but comfy enough. towels were nice and fluffy as were the pillows. Surprised that a 4 star hotel would charge for extra/different pillows, 2.50 pppn. Also 2.00 per day for safe. Toiletries were nice but dont depend on them as not always replenished. Staff were all very pleasant although cleaning varied from 08.15 one morning to 15.30 the next day, however they did a great job! Nice pool area although day before we left half of them were removed with tables and chairs leaving people looking for sunbeds, apparently it is because it is now winter. Centrally located, handy for sea front/ferries/buses. Pub is a bit dark however we found The Salsbury Arms round the corner where we were made welcome.

The best thing about my stay was...

pool with really comfortable beds

Absolutely brilliant hotel.

We have stayed in many half board hotels over the years and the Victoria is by far the best one to date. The hotel is beautifully clean and decorated with mahogany furniture. The quality of the rooms and the food were outstanding with plenty of choices. Think we put on about 1/2 stone in a week. There was also a great indoor pool, steam room, sauna and gym with a roof top pool area. The hotel was 5 minutes walk down a hill to the main promenade and sea front. All in all a great first visit to Malta.

Beautiful Hotel, We hope to return.

Beautiful hotel, well priced, top class facilities . We are a young couple of 21 and 23. We wanted a relaxing break and chose this location in Sliema, Malta. We travelled from the 27th Aug - 7th Sept 2013. It is a relaxed hotel, with help staff and is in a good setting - only a 5 minute walk from the sliema sea front. The hotel is quite quiet, especially at night (if you are looking for in hotel entertain there isn't much) but we did not want that. We were only B&B (Breakfast was great, lots of choice) and enjoyed going out in the evenings, walking through sliema and up to St Juilians Bay - there are restaurants the whole way up this walk on the front and we felt everything was very well priced. Most of our meals for two cost between 30-40 euro and that was including either wine or start/desserts. All the food we had was of a good standard, lots of lovelt italian influenced restaurants. Back to the hotel, if you enjoy relaxing by the pool on some days of your holiday the Victoria will not disappoint! The roof terrace as two pools, one on the 8th and one on the 9th floor, these are beautiful. you can swim and relax looking over the surrounding view of Sliema. This really made our holiday! There is also a small gym, which is fine for a little bit of exercise to work off some of the holiday food and drink, but it is by no means brilliant. Just a couple of treadmills and some free weights (but you don't want to spend too much time in the gym on holiday anyway) There is very little faults I can say about this holiday and the holiday in general. Was very enjoyable and relaxing! Some other notes you may want to consider - Malta is very small, you can get a bus ticket for 12 euro which you just buy on the bus and it allows you to use any bus on the island for 7days, this was very handy. You can travel to mellieha bay (about 50/60mins) for a day at the beach as Sliema doesnt have a sandy beach. Also we don't really buy in to travel tours but we did a great tour of gozo with ezee (not 100% sure if thats the correct name) which took us on speed boat to gozo did a short tour of about 2 hours in gozo and then time to get lunch followed by a trip to the blue lagoon...(which was soooo busy in august, which is a pity because it is a very beautiful swimming spot) and then speed boat back to Sliema. All for 30 euro which we felt was a good price for the trip. Last point - sliema is a quiet enough area, St juilians is more lively for a night out (there is also Paceville which is full of younger people, we had one drink there but didn't stay for the whole night out, lots of clubs and bars) But for a few drinks and lovely cocktails try TEX MEX in sliema or the restaurant bar nextdoor to it MedAsia... Hope I have been of help to any of you considering Sliema and the Victoria! I would really recommend it :)

The best thing about my stay was...

the roof terrace, the food, gozo trip....too much to decide!

The 9th floor is Heaven!

First trip to Malta for my best friend and I. Sliema is the perfect place to stay as a base for exploring the island. The Victoria is just up a street from the main strip in Sliema. Its elegant, with a Victorian charm- hence the name. Our room was lovely, with a small balcony and a large clean bathroom. The furniture/colours are a bit dated but in perfect condition. The tv channels would be one of our few complaints- as they do have a majority of english speaking customers, it would be nice to have a few decent english language stations like bbc1/2. When ur tired after running around all day, relaxing in the evening watching tv before bed is a treat on holidays. Stayed on b&b basis, breakfast was perfect, good selection, replenished all morning. Didnt eat in bar or restaurant for lunch or dinner, because so many places around to try out! But did eat dinner at Temptasian- 9th floor was sheer bliss- laying by pool in morn was so peaceful, views amazing, and the meal was sooo good. perfect service too. Spa treatment hit the spot, a highlight of our stay. Only thing missing- not a great vibe in the bar in evening, a bit blah. Think it was our age (late 30's), mostly older couples. But if u want to feel like a valued guest, with money well spent, and relax in comfort, the Victoria is perfect.
