We spent a couple of nights at the Stratosphere. Plus points are its clean and comfortable. Also being away from the main strip it is a quieter and nearer the older Vegas (Fremont St). We did find many homeless people about, but this has been the same on LA and San Francisco (more so). We did have an issue with the TV which was never resolved in the two days we were there. The big surprise within all the Hotel casinos is they allow smoking at the slots etc. So they do smell of smoke.
The best thing about my stay was...Clean and Comfortable

Stayed at the stratosphere to catch Fremont street and the revolving restaurant - both excellent. But that's it. Room dated , not tea/coffee , staff poor. Worse we had our passports and phones stolen at the pool - the hotel did not care , they wouldn't even help with phones calls - we had to stay and extra night as a result - they gave us a $10 discount !
The best thing about my stay was...Top of the World Resturant

Really clean hotel rooms and very cheap, free trip up the Tower with fantastic views of the strip, only one down point of the Stratosphere is that is is right at the other end of the strip.

Had a great time in Vagas the hotel was fab for our needs, went with Mum, sisters and kids (9 altogether). Kids enjoyed the pool lots. Whilst we went around the shops. We enjoyed the show in the hotel along with the casinos. The staff were helpful - but didn't find the cab service a good experience. Did the helicoptor trip- gd fun. Maybe spent too much time in the hotel. Def want to go back to Viva Vagas. "Luckys" good for breakfast. Included kids views- they loved it.

Review of 'STRATOSPHERE TOWER'
Simon, Folkestone / England
I stayed here with my girlfriend on my first visit to Vegas. It is the very most northern hotel/casino on the strip, so it is a pretty longish way from the airport and all of the more famous casinos are a a pretty decent hike away if you are walking. The hotel felt like pretty much any other in vegas..crazy carpets and free shampoo galore, but it did seem a little more run-down than others I have stayed in. The worst thing was that our room was positioned right behind the Stratosphere Tower so there was no view whatsoever.. just a big concrete pillar! Overall it was an OK place to stay for the price...but there is a lot more fun to be had at the more southerly strip hotels. I wholly recommend the tower to everyone though.. absolutely the best view in Vegas (you *must* go when it's dark!) and the rides are utterly insane and enormous fun!

Review of 'STRATOSPHERE TOWER'
I stayed at the Stratosphere with my cousin a couple years ago. It was wonderful. We loved the restaurants, the entertainment, the gambling, the shops, the location. We loved going up to the top and looking out over The Strip. We loved the Superstars show, it was excellent. The free Viva Las Vegas show was quite good too, and you get to go for free when you stay at the hotel. The buffet was wonderful for breakfast and dinner. The bands in the lounges were really good. We loved the shops because they weren't outrageously expensive and the water massage machine was super relaxing. We loved the omelets in the little diner on the floor where the shops are located, and they were really reasonable. We didn't go on any of the rides, but it looked like everyone was having a blast on them. You never have to leave the place if you don't want to. It has everything. Oh yeah, the pool is beautiful, if it's not too hot to enjoy it. It's up on about the 8th floor.
