Long weekend escape
Jim, Liz & Cat, Scotland
The hotel was just across from the Air France bus stop from the airport. We had a room with a great view of the Arc de Triomphe and top of the eiffel tower. Very comfortable with good soundproofing. The breakfast was good and varied and staff were really friendly, helpful and related well to children. Would happily stay there again.
The best thing about my stay was...Location

Hotel is near the main tourist attractions. Near the hotel very good restaurants and brasseries. Room was clean and standard size.

Nicely located and clean - double standard room should have been classified as a "single"
Mary Lefteris, Barnet
We stayed at the Splendid Etoille between the 29 and 31 Dec 2011. The double standard room we were given was a joke. It was half a room and 3/4 size bed. Very claustrophobic. Having said that the twin rooms that the other members of our family had were very spacious. The hotel was clean and the breakfast was lovely and of course the hotel was very well located. The staff were miserable and not very helpful - and the reception area/bar was lifeless. I have stayed in nicer/friendlier hotels in Paris so I wouldn't stay there again.

We had a brilliant time - Paris is beautiful but there is so much to do that you need more than a weekend. The key is to plan your trip and decide what you really want to see and book it beforehand in peak season as there are queues everywhere and it's e

Hotel was clean and the double room we were given was a good size. The breakfast was good too. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. It was, as it states, close to the Arc de Triompe and also the metro stop was just across the road, making travel very easy. It was good value for money.

This was a marvellous hotel in every possible way. We were given a corner room on the fourth floor and when we opened the curtains and windows, felt we could almost have reached out and touched the Arc de Triumphe, such was our proximity to the famous Paris landmark. The room itself was lovely, with fittings of superb quality - the curtains were unbelievably thick and heavy, and quite beautiful. Although situated so close to a perpetually busy thoroughfare, no traffic noise penetrated once the windows and curtains were closed - truly amazing. The Concierge was particularly pleasant and helpful. We had arrived earlier than the accepted check-in time, so had expected to have to wait a while until our room was ready, but after some considerable time had elapsed we were beginning to feel annoyed; we had, after all, spent some 22 hours travelling from Australia and were hot, tired, thirsty and very much in need of a bath or shower before we could begin to re-acquaint ourselves with the beautiful French capital. Once we made the concierge aware of our situation, he ensured that things moved a lot more quickly and within a very short time we were in our room. He also took the time and trouble to make sure we were not overcharged by a taxi driver we engaged to collect us the following morning, by speaking to him personally and by advising us how much our journey should cost. Everything in the hotel was very clean, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Breakfast was included in our tariff and was comprehensive, fresh and plentiful. We booked through Alpharooms and paid what we considered a very reasonable price for a hotel of this quality and in such a desirable and convenient location. Would recommend this hotel and stay there again without any hesitation.
The best thing about my stay was...The view of the Arc de Triumphe

Great location, so central and right by the Charles De Gaulle Etoile RER exit. Room was well furbished but the view of the Arc de Triomphe was stunning from the small balcony. Only gripe was the bed - too hard for me and the pillows were horribly synthetic and uncomfortable to sllep on. Buffet breakfast was substantial and muchbetter value if included in room rate.

Review of 'SPLENDID ETOILE'
Ann Spence, Luton
This hotel was exellent. I went with my daughter for a long weekend in paris and the location could not have been better. The room had a view of the Arc de Triomphe. Lots of eateries in the area; the tour bus 'stop' was close by and the area was very safe. The hotel staff were friendly, the breakfast was nice and if you didn't speak french they could all speak good english. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel which cost 44euro and that was at about 11pm. We booked the moulin rouge for the saturday evening and booked on line before we went. Well worth the 146 Euro's each - A night to remember. Not a cheap hotel but worth it.

Lovely hotel in a fantastic location
Mrs Crowe, Birmingham / England
It was fantastic - the location was superb, our room over looked the Arc de Triomphe, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Infact you normally find there is at least one member of staff that perhaps isn't quite as nice but not at the Hotel Splendid, they were ALL lovely. The hotel was so well located, the Air France transfer coach <br />(which anyone can catch) from the airport stops just across the road and the metro station is right outside the hotel entrance. We will certainly be going back there and recommending it to our friends.
