A bit of a mixture

We were a party of four, 2 adults and our 2 children (18,16) booked into two separate rooms which were about 50 yards apart on the 4th floor. The rooms were both a little dated with cracked and broken floor tiles, mould in the bathrooms and water stained doors, but, you get what you pay for and we paid around £1000 for seven nights all inclusive. Turning a blind eye to the rooms the first couple of days were idyllic and I remember mentioning to my wife one evening just how quiet it was even with the balcony door open .... I spoke too soon !!! The hotel then took delivery of a large party of Dutch teenagers and both ourselves and our children were unfortunate enough to have some of these little darlings placed into adjacent rooms to our own. Ok, yes it was their first night, yes they were excited and yes we all like to have fun, but at just after midnight with the booming music, screaming, shouting and banging of furniture the security man for th hot l along with their group leader appeared and attempted to quieten them down, this actually worked, for about 15 minutes and then they all started again, security man and group leader repeated their visits throughout the night. At dinner the following evening the security man came over to our table and apologised stating that the Dutch are usually better behaved and that they don't usually have this trouble until later in the season !!! He also told us that th group leader had spok n to them at dinner and that they were to be quiet from 11:00pm ..... it was after 2:00am before thy finally succumbed to sleep. After dinner on the third night of their stay I went to speak to reception and was rather sarcastically met with a follicly challenged gentlemen on reception who just said "what should I do, call the police"? At this point we could see that we were not going to get much sleep for the rest of our holiday so we went and made good use of the all inclusive drinks facilities in the hope that alcohol would assist our sleep, shameful to resort to such tactics, but it actually worked, got back to our rooms and the adjacent parties we're already in full swing but after two previous nights of very little sleep and a ridiculous amount of alcohol we fell asleep .... only to be woken by the group leader banging ferociously on the door next door about 7:30am trying to rouse the occupants for their breakfasts. On a more positive note, the food is fantastic with plenty of choice for everyone, the kids were both impressed with the wifi speed, Steve (one of the barman) is an absolute legend and makes great cocktails, the ladies that clean the rooms work tirelessly leaving the rooms spotless and always have a smile. The public areas of the hotel including the pools are pretty well maintained and suit the four star rating but unfortunately Qawra as a resort must hold the record for litter, dog mess and construction sites, though at least whilst laying next to the rooftop pool the adjacent cranes (we counted 12 within a stones throw) provided entertainment and on our last afternoon whilst we were waiting to be picked up I quite happily sat transfixed on the kids balcony watching a bulldozer turn a massive pile of earth into perfectly flat ground.

The best thing about my stay was...

The food

Excellent All Inclusive

One of the best all inclusive hotels we've been to. Although food was buffet style it was always hot with plenty of choice. The bar served drinks in full size glasses with good measures and the beer was not watered down. You could also choose an IPA in a bottle of you wished. The bar staff were also very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and tidy. The outside pool was tad small but as it was quiet around the pool while we were there it didn't matter much. The indoor pool was excellent and heated to a good temperature and we also enjoyed the sauna. The only negative really was the area the hotel was located in but fortunately we hired a car so were able to drive elsewhere.

The best thing about my stay was...

The bar staff.

Excellent hotel and staff

We have just returned from a 9 night stay in the Soreda Hotel in Qawra. We ve had a lovely time. The hotel soreda is well run and is very clean. Maid service every day and clean bedding and lovely white fluffy towels. Entertainment every night. I am on a mobility scooter and I emailed the hotel to ask for a room which would accommodate me my husband and the scooter. We had room 131 it was very spacious for me to manoeuvre my scooter with tv fridge kettle walk in shower/wet room style. There’s a safe in the wardrobe if you need to hire it we didn’t bother. There wasn’t much in English on the tv but we did find the news and two channels nbc 2 and nbc max which showed great films it was an Arabic channel showing English speaking films with Arabic subtitles. Was about 10 mins walk into the town with the usual bars and restaurants and souvenir shops. We like the Qawra Palace Cafe. Yummy cakes and a nice cuppa.

The best thing about my stay was...

The food at the hotel was varied and was of an excellent standard. We were half board but could have upgraded to all inc for 15 euros a day each. Which I thought was very reasonable it’s the cost of 5 pints of beer and you get all inclusive

Hotel for partial renovation

There are good and really bad things to be said about this hotel. The good: staff is great, location close to sea and bus, swimming pools good, gym very good, eating area good, food good enough, reception nice, bars good. The bad thing relates to rooms!!! : rooms and corridors needs full renovation. You can not even think about refreshing them. That's impossible. There is mould in bathroom covered by silicon, bad smell. You will get a pain in your back after sleeping as the mattress are not good. In the room you will feel like being in maximum bad condition 3 stars hotel. Almost all furniture need to be replaced. Floor, tiles on walls , ceiling to be repainted, taps, etc....Basically everything from the room should go tho the skip and rooms should be redesigned fully.

The best thing about my stay was...

Staff was good. They do their best.

XMAS BREAK, 2016 CAN SOD OFF!

I decided to get rid of 2016 with a warm, comfortable no hassle break, and thats what i got! The hotel is just as advertised, very clean and comfortable, beds made and clean towels every day. I enjoyed a few hours every day by the rooftop pool, when the wind died down, the indoor pool was very warm, a good bar area, plenty of places to relax and chill with a book, good food but could have been a bit more varied and the frozen mixed veg was a let down but overall i was well fed! The only let down was the influx of big local families for 2 days, generally taking over the relaxing areas and standing in the way, but i just went elsewhere to avoid them! The Staff were great right the way through, not one of them was curt or unfriendly / helpful. Overall, i thoroughly enjoyed my stay and will go back to Malta, and probably the Soreda.

The best thing about my stay was...

The whole experience
