For people on a budget
Room was quite better than expected. Reception area amd lobby needs a upgrade. Furniture is old.
The best thing about my stay was...Close to markets

The hotel was lovely, rooms better than i expected, comfy beds , plenty of hot water, nice balcony. Food was good, but not much choice, although the breakfast was lovely. Drinks for an all-inclusive hotel was pathetic, cheap horrible lager, watered down vodka, & they are all served in baby glasses.
The best thing about my stay was...The rooms, & the breakfast.

The hotel was basic but very clean and tidy. The staff struggled with speaking English but were willing to learn. They were all very polite, helpful and friendly. No task was too great ot small for them. Located on the bus route and not too far to walk down to the beach or the "old town".
The best thing about my stay was...The friendly staff, and the clean rooms.

Where can I start? Above poor is to flattering, I would say don't go there. The lease holder/manager, Ramazan is not in control of his family staff, in particular his brother at the bar taking money for drinks and then putting it through to reception for the guest to pay again, other guests were also complaining about that, he was also sleeping on a bar stool at the bar at 10am, he also has a hygiene problem in the fact of wearing the same clothes for a number of days and wiping the sweat from his hair and face plus touching himself in the lower region of the body, then serving drinks and being in the kitchen without washing his hands, the female relative that was doing breakfast was again wearing the same clothes for many days and had the same dirty stained apron on for the 12 days we were there, breakfast on the eighth day, no cups, no tea no eggs at 9.10am, told finished, picking up leaves with her hands and then going into the kitchen an handling food and not washing her hands let alone the not changing her clothes, we went out for breakfast, spoke to Ramazan, promised to pay and sidestepped us until the last day and hid in a room until we left, both he, his brother, Joseph I believe plus staff had had a huge party with young girl guests which seemed to be different girls every night taken to rooms every night, is that what you expect from the management let alone the staff as an example, you could see from the bar naked girls jumping on the bed at the party, at reception 90% of the time only Turkish speaking staff, many different countries were there, the pool was not being cleaned and had to be closed as two guests got an infection and had to go to hospital when they returned.to UK, no boubt that will come out ina review, the hotel is as regards to health is a risk and also a serious risk of getting ripped off at the bar. I will be asking for a full refund as it was rubbish, we even had to move rooms as the shower flooded the room and it was apparent that there was overbooking as people were turning up and had to be put in a hotel which was filthy, no bar and an empty pool. I reiterate, all I herd all week were complaints and the manager every day did not turn up until 4pm at the earliest and then sat at the bar drinking and courting the young female guests who later disappeared with him. My partner has been going to Selge since 2009 and is appalled as I am as to what is going on.

really enjoyed it
Mrs Irene Winrow, Wigan Lancs
A budget hotel with a big heart, staff very kind, the free beach shuttle bus with sunbeds also free was a bonus, all you had to do was buy drinks fron the beach bar, basic clean accommodation, really good restaurant close by called Flying horse, greart food and good price, easy to get about with the Dolmus mini buses .
The best thing about my stay was...The markets at Side ( lovely place) and manavgat market,

Wonderful value in excellent hotel
George and Louie, Le Dorat, France
Having just returned from a week in Side for a family wedding, we wanted to give our impressions of the Selge Hotel. We were a party of five adults. When our friends were told how little we had paid for our reservation, they expected the worst (we paid around 24 UKP per person for a week's stay, including breakfast.) They couldn't have been more wrong! Rooms are certainly basic, but very clean. Beds comfortable, pleanty of hot water, handy balcony overlooking the swimmning pool. Staff and management uniformly excellent, service was friendly and prompt, the waiters and restaurant staff deserve an extra 'thank you' for their attentiveness and politeness. The restaurant (our table was by the pool) was first-class. - a wide range of dishes, uniformly of good quality, and around half the price one would pay in the main tourist area of the town (we tried that once, but were disappoointed.) To challenge a few negative points that have been raised in other reviews: Yes, the street outside does play host to a number of 'ladies of the night' in the evenings. They don't bother anyone, and simply do their job. Indeed, it made an interesting specator sport for our party when we adjourned to the bar after dinner. The breakfast is a Turkish breakfast, and we found it excellent, despite the comments of one or two other reviewers. Olives, meat, cheeses, water melon, fruit juices, bread and preserves, tea and coffee. Oh and LOTS of boiled eggs! Yes, if you are overlooking the pool, you will experience some music playing till around 1 am from the bar and restaurant area. It never bothered us, and the balcony door cuts the noise down to a very low level. Air conditioning is extra, certainly, and, trust me, you will need it. But at around 20 UKP for the week, we didn't feel the cost was excessive, considering the initial price we paid for the stay. Contrary to the experiences of some other visitors, we had no problems with either hot water (copious) or language - all the staff spoke at least basic English, and many of them were fluent. Our rooms were clean, as had been mentioned, and serviced daily. We really had none of the negative experiences that seem to have been encountered by a few other visitors. Sole negative point - the television in the bar adjoining the restaurant is turned on for EVERY possible football match, and this we did find annoying, especially as perhaps only one person was actually watching it. But the ever-helpful staff were very happy to turn the volume down to an acceptable level when we asked. We appreciate that the hotel has to cater to football fans, as, if they don't, these may make their way (and spend their money) in another establishment that DOES offer this facility. The wedding we were attending was held in the Side Prenses, a five-star establishment, which, in our view, couldn't hold a candle to the Selge. Large and impersonal, reminiscent of a marble-clad Butlins. The self-service restaurant there was, we thought, the mosty beautifully decorated canteen we had ever encountered. The food was inferior, too, frequently cold and generally unappetising. And the bar closed at midnight on the day of the wedding!!! We were happy to return to the Selge for a late-night drink! All in all, a delightful experience and one we would happily repeat. Maybe next year....
The best thing about my stay was...Hard to say, but the friendly and helpful staff has to be the best point of all.

Five stars are not enough - In Side for a wedding with only a few days to explore the area
Paul and Cathie, Le Dorat, France
We visited a five star hotel but thought Selge Hotel was better in every way! All the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The meals were excellent with place settings almost impossible to beat anywhere. Super clean and spacious swimming pool. Will not give any more praise in case we are able to go next year - availability may go down and prices up!
The best thing about my stay was...The friendliness of the staff.

2 weeks bed and breakfast
David Wilson, Carlisle
Hotel was fine, staff friendly maybe a little pushy at times, didn't really want you to leave the hotel to go anywhere else. Menu was quite good and the pool was quite large with a toddlers pool fenced off for safety which was good. One drawback with the hotel it was out of the old town of Side, you needed to catch a bus down to the town, the town was very pretty with lots of ruins to look at.
The best thing about my stay was...we were able to book a 3 day trip to Cappadocia which was amazing

Wasn't the best place to stay, wouldn't be back
Jennifer Guzeloglu, Belfast, northern Ireland
Arrived in the early hours (about 3am) owner was looking to charge us for day before air conditioning, plenty of stairs up to hotel and to rooms, no lift, wouldn't suit anyone with walking difficulties, I was 7 months pregnant, hubby had to carry 2 suitcases up the stairs to the top floor, no offer of help from staff on reception. Only about 25 sunbeds, hotel was fully booked and not enough sunbeds for guests, had to be up about 6am to put your towel down or you didn't get a sunbed, hubby complained to the owner and his response was the sunbeds kept breaking, and he wasn't buying anymore, and to sit on the chairs until a sunbed became available, sunbeds don't become available until late afternoon when sun is near gone. Prostitutes walking up and down past the hotel at night looking for business from passing vehicles. Breakfast is Turkish breakfast only, olives, cucumber, tomatoes, cheese, watermelon, boiled eggs, bread, jam, one morning there was no eggs left, owners response was guests taking about 4 eggs each and there wasn't enough, didn't make any more eggs for rest of guests that morning. Turkish night was 20tl was told they usually do a BBQ, all we got was chicken diner and salad, and then melon, can get a chicken doner for about 5tl. Belly dancer was really good and kept everyone entertained and involved everyone.
The best thing about my stay was...Enjoyed the belly dancer at the Turkish night and other dancers. Staff at the hotel were lovely, just the owner didn't want to know, staff made the holiday better, Mehmet, Ismail, Ramazan. And others.

Excellent Budget choice Hotel
Jeremy Havard, Blackburn
Great time as on my last visit, It is not luxurious by any means but is clean, and a friendly family run place. Be aware if you have walking difficulties it is not the place simply because of stairs leading to most facilities but able bodied customers won't have any problems. The on site restaurant is good with cheap beer with speciality nights most evenings including "Turkish" for just 25 TL (£9 pp) with full buffet service & entertainment. Maid service is trustworthy and efficient. The few surrounding Restaurants/Bars are excellent, the Flying Horse virtually next door is a great choice for food and a friendly welcome. All in all a great, clean, well run basic hotel. Will definitely return.
The best thing about my stay was...Great food, great beer and a friendly crowd all round

The hotel was ok. The staff were very nice and helpful. It was a bit far from the sea but they have service to the beach so you can easily go and come back. But they have a very nice swimming pool in the hotel as well. The breakfast could be a bit more variable but all in all we were very satisfied. Good quality for the price we payed which actually was very cheap (65 euros/2 people 7 nights B&B).
The best thing about my stay was...Helpful staff and the Dolphin beach which was very nice

Cheap and cheerful!
Jon Elstar, London
You get what you pay for but it is OK. The staff are friendly, the rooms reasonably clean if you don't look under the bed! The pool is large and deep and there are plenty of sunbeds. The food is remarkably good (although breakfast is very average) and very reasonably priced, The is a dolmus passes right by the door to take you to the wonderful ruins and a courtesy bus to take you to the long beach, where there are beach cafes and sunbeds that are free if you eat and drink there. Side id a large tourist spot but it is easy enough to get away and do your own thing if that is what you want.

I will never go back to that hotel
the hotel it self, is located by a busy road which I didn't mind, however prostitutes are there everyday, doing there work, on the corner! Running into the hotel when the police come, the staff am very friendly, however the manager allows the prostitutes to come into the hotel and is very friendly with them, our first room- lock was broken, no air con, single beds, very basic, the view was facing a dark alley, and a horr house! The second room was over looking the pool was a great room, maids were great and very trust worthy, ants all over our breakfast, in the buffet room, so we went else where, I'f u go to this hotel do not use tab because they will charge u extra for beer etc, lots of screaming at night in corridor! I'f u going with friends as girls I wouldn't go to this hotel! With couples should be okay, but be very careful and do not trust anyone! The tourists were great and very lively! Everything else was great! Music, friendly environment!

Was very dubious about booking this hotel as it was so cheap, but decided to give it a go. It turned out to be one of the best holidays we have had. Ok the rooms are basic, air conditioning and safe is extra but what can you expect for the price. Ate in the restaurant a couple of evenings and found the food excellent, especially the Turkish nights, drinks are very reasonably priced. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful, especially Ken, who was invaluable for local advice. Spent three very enjoyable days at the relax beach, again food and drinks good. Got a bit lost walking to Side, but worth the effort, a typical Turkish town with the addition of the ruins and a nice harbour. Good food at the Sultan Ay nearby, very pleasant staff and again prices good. Didn't try the more English style places, prefer more local food such as the Butchers restaurant at the back of the hotel, excllent wrap at Durum. Don't let any of the negative reviews put you off visiting the Selge, would go again tomorrow if the price was right. Booked the flight, transfer and hotel through Alpharooms and was very impressed with their service, would definately recommend. Room Tip: If you are booking independently can be cheaper to book an extra night rather than pay the £15 for keeping the room for a late flight
The best thing about my stay was...Enjoyed everything

Best Holiday So Far
Had a great time! The staff were all lovely, the music was never too loud and we stayed in a pool side room. The food was lovely and everything was cheap! Was back for 5 days and re-booked to go back for another 2 weeks! As for the prostitutes, they dont do you any harm and its just amusing to watch them run away when the police come. Very cheap area, loved the Red Lion Pub too staff all lovely there too! Room cleaned daily and bedding changed every couple of days. Bus shuttles to the beach for free, great reps too! Great Holiday! :)
The best thing about my stay was...Everything! We loved it!
