7/10 Good

Standard and comfortable

We had a room in the back and there is a building under construction just next. It was very noisy and we asked a room in the front. We moved on the second day, since there was nothing available with twin beds upon arrival. The room had balcony on the front Street, was bigger and nicer except the air conditioner did not work and we left the patio door open. Some lights did not work and the hair dryer was always coming off the tube. It was nice and clean. The sheets were too short and our feet were resting on the mattress cover for 2 feet at that end. The staff was very nice and friendly. The bar is small and has entertainment some nights. We were on all inclusive and got the local booze, which means beer on tap that we didn't like and unknown gin and other hard liquors. I do not recommend the "all inclusive" for that reason. You can get quick lunches in the bar or on the front terrasse all day, which is nice. The food was great in the only buffet restaurant. Every meal was delicious and of very good quality. There was always an assortment to please everyone. The staff was just great and efficient...sometimes too much and my bread and butter would be gone as I come back with my starter or main. The location is not in the best area but close to the water front by a 5 minutes walk. It is near the bus station and in the vicinity of a few other little hotels, appartments and restaurants. Tour bus will pick you up in front of the entrance but Valetta is a long bus ride as traffic is heavy at all times. The area seems safe as it is generally in Malta. The price was great, so was the service and the food, so we will probably go back on our next visit to Malta.

The best thing about my stay was...

We loved the food and the staff was very nice

Friendly staff, clean nice room but let itself down in a lot of ways

The serving staff were very friendly and happy to help even though we were all inclusive. Our family room was amazing - two big rooms, two balconies and two nice bathrooms. However, the food was very sub standard (not very hot, not much choice - especially lacking salads) and not very tasty - and I'm not a fussy eater). They didn't make anything fresh and you had to lift big lids to get at everything which was frustrating for everyone. We only found out by chance that you could order sandwiches wraps toasties and baguettes at the cafe and pool bar which were a bit better (this wasn't indicated on the literature). All three of us ended up with slight stomach cramps and the runs on the last day which wasn't good. There were plenty of sun loungers and the pool was quite nice but no activities or music and very windy. There were no good views as just lots of cranes and building work going on. The entertainment the first night was good but the singer the second night wasn't very good. I would not take kids to this hotel - nothing really for them to do and no kids entertainment. The location was quite central but the buildings aren't very attractive and there is nothing really in this area of Malta in the way of beaches. The area was also all a bit too "brits abroad" for me with no obvious sense of another culture (though we were only three days and didn't go on any excursions).

The best thing about my stay was...

The lovely big rooms

Exactly What We Needed

Stayed here recently for the AMP Lost & Found festival over the Bank Holiday weekend. Hotel Santana did the trick for us; a lovely rooftop pool with plenty of space for sunbeds and an efficient pool bar. The breakfast was great to set us up for every day with plenty of hot and cold variety. Booking taxis at reception was quite difficult but I think that was because of the time we went and how busy it was because of the festival as they were very expensive! The room did the trick for the four of us with plenty of clothes storage, a full-length mirror and a small fridge with a good-sized bathroom and powerful shower. However, as the shower was a 'walk-in' style everything did become very wet and damp in there once it had been used. Overall, it was a great find for us as it definitely represented strong value for money and I would return to Hotel Santana if I was to head back for the festival.

Good Hotel

Hotel was clean and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, we had a balcony and a fridge in the room. The bathroom was lovely with a big walk in shower and a reasonable hairdryer, some free toiletries. Breakfast was excellent with lots of choice of cereals, cold meats and cheese, cooked food, all very good.

The best thing about my stay was...

Beautiful big room.

Great place and staff

Upon arrival the reception was flooded, the staff were professional and apologetic and remained very calm and welcoming. The check-in was quick and easy. We had a lovely modern twin room and it was clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfy, bathroom was clean and the cleaning staff were great too. Staff always answered any queries and also suggested some nice restaurants within 10 mins walk. Lots of parking directly outside the hotel for those who rent a car - like we did.

The best thing about my stay was...

The hotel was a great price and situated just a short stroll away from the busy part!

Nice Refurbishment

Booked a comfort room, which had already been refurbished. Not a great view as requested but every other aspect of the hotel was good.

The best thing about my stay was...

Food was vague and if good quality.

Good hotel

Been before thats why we keep coming back room was excellent and the shower was hot and powerful any questions I had the hotel swiftly dealt with the breakfast was good they even slice the bread for you instead of waiting for people to cut their own which can keep you back. The hotel is very handy for the bus station about 3minute walk which is bliss after the bus journeys we made. You can change your English or Scots pounds in several shops very near the hotel. Alexanders is just down from the hotel does a far better exchange than back home but the diy shop around the corner along from the police station is usually higher by a couple of cents and its only another few minutes away

The best thing about my stay was...

Visiting the markets and Valletta and mosta dome. If visiting mosta dome be sure to eat breakfast or lunch at the Olympic cafe a real gem which the locals eat in. Very good grub and very cheap prices dont go anywhere else even the starter portions would fill an adult

Excellent stay in the Santana

Just returned from a 10 night A/I stay at the lovely Santana Hotel in Qawra Malta. We were really pleased with the Hotel. The Staff are excellent and cannot do enough for you (they make this Hotel and are a credit to their employers, particularly Karen at the bar and Anton in the restaurant). The food was excellent with plenty of variety and the puddings were to die for. We will definitely be returning in the future and our only slight negative comment is that the bar area is very small for the size of the Hotel (in winter) and because of the good standard of entertainment and regular visitors from outside the Hotel to watch the entertainment it can get very crowded with lack of seating. This however didn't detract from the holiday and I would certainly recommend this Hotel.

The best thing about my stay was...

The Staff and the standard of food available.
