Hotel Info

Overview

The Royal Scots Club, founded in 1919 as a tribute to those who fell in The Great War, is proud of its heritage and is situated in one of Edinburgh's finest Georgian Streets in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town. Courtesy, personal service and warm hospitality guarantee an enjoyable stay and the charming and relaxed ambiance of the hotel guarantees a comfortable stay for guests. The Royal Scots Club is open for non-members offering a great range of facilities, including conference and banqueting suites, with catering for up to 120 guests, some with magnificent tranquil views over Queen Street Gardens. Guests can relax in one of the twenty bedrooms, each individually designed and traditionally furnished with comfort in mind, providing modern facilities, including private en-suite facilities with luxury toiletries, hospitality trays, iron and board, cable television, DDI telephones and wi-fi internet access, with some boasting scenic views over the rooftops to Fife, or to private gardens to the front. Guests can enjoy the restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner, where, due to long tradition, the Club does have a dress code; Gentlemen are expected to wear a jacket and tie for lunch between Monday and Friday and at weekends an open necked shirt, worn without a jacket is acceptable. A jacket and tie is required for dinner Monday to Thursday and on other evenings, smart but casual attire is acceptable. Ladies are expected to conform to an equivalent standard of dress at all times. The Royal Scots Club, more personal than a hotel, is the perfect base to relish the culture and character of Scotland’s capital city.

Great place to stay

Arrived for the last week of the Fringe. Welcoming and friendly staff who were very helpful. Lovely room with 4 poster and loads of space and enough drawer and cupboard facilities for a fortnight! Quiet, relaxing public rooms with very comfy sofas and best of all, a ban on mobile phones - peaceful breakfast and drinks in the bar!

The best thing about my stay was...

everything about the place, especially the friendly helpful staff

Stayed May 2009

Nice hotel excellent location for central Edinburgh, friendly staff. Problem parking close to hotel £2 per hour speak to traffic wardens, there are plenty of them about and they will advise you the streets to park in not too far away £4.30 for 9 hours and free at certain times. Was led to believe there were pool and gym facilities, these have been removed from the ground floor. Wasn't a major issue and would stay there again. Tom and Vicki West Midlands.

excellent location

Following a late decision to attend the edinburgh festival we were limited in our choice of hotel and ended up making a reservation at the royal scots club through necessity rather than choice. However after our stay I am very glad that we did. The hotel was an ideal location for exploring the various venues of the festival. The staff were very friendly and the room was of a good standard with a well-sized bathroom. The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice for all tastes. Prices within the hotel were reasonable. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Review of 'Royal Scots Club'

Really nice location if you would like to do most of your sightseeing on foot and you have only a day or two. Room and bath fine. Breakfast good. Nice to have use of gym (in same building.) Staff friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

Only snag - they do host weddings/parties, and one evening we had not yet locked our door and we were visited by a very pickled party guest trying to use our bathroom.
