6/10 Good

Go to Roda, not to the Oasis

The Roda Oasis is a modern, well built hotel. The rooms are small but clean, the staff helpful and the resort of Roda is a pleasant place to stay. However, the experience is spoilt by the approach and attitude of the owners. Essentially, they are only really happy if your are spending money and they charge for just about everything. They publish that they charge for the fridge, 5Euro a day, they charge for the air-con, 7Euro a day, for kettles. These are pre known and thus one can budget for them. However they do not tell you that they charge 15Euro to rent a kettle for two weeks, six bottles of water, which retail at 1.60Euro will cost you 10Euro. I understand the food was of an acceptable standard. I cannot comment as we did not eat there apart from breakfast, which consisted of diluted orange juice, two slices of toasted bread, a slice of cheese and a slice of meat and weak tasteless coffee. They could not even supply my wife, who cannot eat bread or cheese, with one piece of fruit for breakfast and so she went without. Finally, where any bar or restaurant that has wi-fi facilities will happily give you the appropriate password, our two hosts will charge you. This is pure greed. We chose to use the Roda Oasis as purely a place to sleep and have a shower. We refused to spend any time in the hotel. If you go to the Roda Oasis, be prepared to have to spend the extra on all the locally bought 'extras' which other hotels provide as part of the package. The better alternative would be to go elsewhere.

The best thing about my stay was...

The weather
