End of season!

Very nice location, well situated.Sadly, because we stayed the last week of the season, the hotel and staff were clearly 'winding down'! Probably in the height of the season it would be more lively and accommodating, but at this time of year, everything is tired - including the food. I wouldn't stay here at this time of year again, maybe not at all.

The best thing about my stay was...

The location, the views and the proximity to the airport.

Avoid Late Season!

This is a nice hotel where the food is quite good. The choice of drinks however, can be fairly limited. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel views are superb. The down side is that as we stayed the last week of the season, the staff couldn't wait to get rid of us, and the last 3 days it felt like the hotel was closing in on you, with more and more areas being closed down. Although we were not being picked up until 16.00, they refused to supply any form of refreshment after 14.00. When I questioned this I was simply told that 14.00 was shut down time and we would just have to sit and wait for our transport. I suggested a rebate may be in order but was rather abruptly told that my stay was over!

The best thing about my stay was...

The location and setting where wonderful.

Making the best of it...

We were well looked after by the hotel, despite complications with our booking. We had booked to play tennis at the tennis centre but we had to move hotels - the Albatros staff arranged for a minibus to take us to and from the other hotel each day so that we could continue with our tennis holiday. I have stayed at the Albatros before, and would still recommend it.

The best thing about my stay was...

The staff went out of their way to accomodate us.

4th Time There

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at this hotel in Cavtat which we love. The hotel is scrupulously clean and in a wonderful location. The food is plentiful with lots of choice although when it was run by Iberostar there was more choice at breakfast - for example, more fresh fruit, cartons of yogurt, beans and mushrooms. Not a big deal - just an observation. No problem getting a lounger or umbrella. Swimming pool and kids pools great with sea swimming on beach just across the road. Views and sunsets are amazing. The activity and entertainment staff are some of the nicest young people you could meet. They work well as a team and are friendly without being intrusive, offer a full programme of activities for all ages, put on very professional shows and are wonderful with the children at their nightly mini disco. Cavtat itself is a little gem in the Adriatic with its lovely wee coffee shop, restaurants and cafe bars, some of which are quite trendy. There is a nice ambience and biz but very civilised and prices are very reasonable. It is also scrupulously clean and the Croatians are lovely people, always eager to please. Some stunning 4 and 5 tier cruisers come into the bay - just like Monte Carlo. I have recommended Croatia to many people and they have all enjoyed it and gone back again and again. We have now been 10 times - sometimes in Porec in the north, Makaska in the centre and Cavtat in the south. All are very beautiful and not expensive. It is refreshing to find a destination that is still unspoiled.

The best thing about my stay was...

Location of hotel, activity staff and beautiful Cavtat

Great location, great stay!

We didn’t really know what to expect as this was our first time in Croatia, but we were delighted with what we found. The hotel itself was in a stunning location, right down on the beach looking out onto the most stunning mountainous bay. It is only about ten minutes in the taxi for the airport transfer – so planes go overhead now and again, but it’s really not intrusive and the short transfer makes the journey much more bearable. The hotel itself was absolutely spotless. The rooms were really comfortable, we had a king size double and were given fresh towels and bottles of water every day as part of the maid service. The food was very enjoyable – the choice was almost too wide – the usual was available, grilled meats and fish, tons of salads, fresh breads and lovely cakes and fruit for pudding. I agree with previous reviews, it could become “samey” if you weren’t careful to pick different things every day instead of a little bit of everything. The all-inclusive drinks were remarkably okay! The entertainment was really good – a live act on every night after dinner – including a guitar duo of Marko and Ian who really were superb, plus some traditional Croatian folk performers one night. During the day, the ‘animation team’ provided all sorts, including pistol shooting, archery, aqua fit and yoga etc – all free! The team were fab because they engaged with everyone really positively but they weren’t intrusive. I was particularly impressed with Oz, he made a point of remembering everyone’s names (and managed to do so for the whole week!) and came over and had a laugh with us every night – teaching us Croatian etc with the patience of a saint, well done Oz! The resort was stunning, a twenty minute stroll round the shore road to a traditional wee resort with about a dozen bars and restaurants – and views to die for. We found all the bar staff friendly and helpful and again, the premises were all clean and well looked after. The number 10 bus takes you into Dubrovnik for about £2.40 each way – about 45 mins – and there you can explore the old town – amazing, really beautiful, loads to see from various stages in history. We returned by water taxi, took about an hour, about £6 each and it dropped us off on the hotel pontoon, fantastic! We took a tour to Monte Negro one day with Mike’s tours (his wee shop/ stall is just round the corner from the bus station in Cavtat.) The trip was lovely, and our guide Ivan was fantastic – knowledgeable, enthusiastic and his English was superb! Quite expensive but well worth it! Overall, the hotel was great – be warned, it’s not exactly young and lively, a good proportion of guests were of retiral age, but hey ho, it was so quiet at night, you could hear a pin drop, which meant we all got a great night’s sleep. Overall, it was a brilliant holiday and we would definitely return - if the hotel maintains its standards and service under the new ownership, we would love to go back!

The best thing about my stay was...

Spotless hotel in great location

A really good holiday with everything we could want

Very clean and comfortable hotel, the air conditioning was a must as the temperature hit 38C. The hotel itself is a little dated, built in the 60's but it felt of good quality and the standard of accommodation and food was very good. We would definitely go back to the Iberostar Albatros again.

Denied a basic staple of life in 30 degrees heat!

This hotel is great for families but as a Mother (86) and daughter (60) travelling together it was not really suitable - too large and too . Issues: 1 the hotel would not supply drinking water unless we paid for it at £1.50 a bottle! In the heat we experienced this was ludicrous! A family of four would have been bankrupt by the end of a week. The nearest supermarket was a 15min walk away so they had a captive market at the hotel. 2 There was always a scramble for outside tables at dinner which could have been solved by having more smaller tables for 2 - tables for 4 were laid up for 2 so space was always limited. 3 If you weren't at the pool by 7.30am you didn't get a sunbed as no-one prevented non- guests from using the hotel facilites! Evening entertainment was good and the dining room staff were lovely, but I wouldn't return.

The best thing about my stay was...

The sunset every evening right in front of the dining terrace.
