The staff are friendly & helpful.rooms are cleaned & fresh towels left everyday.our room was a great size & the balcony was massive, if we,d had 2 sun loungers it would have been fantastic! Now the bad bits......the NOISE!!...the hotel has a policy of no noise after 12.....was NEVER applied.....used mostly by Germans & Dutch who were mostly in groups of 6+ & VERY LOUD, ALL DAY & NIGHT!!....I had to get up a couple of nights to tell them to 'shut up!', they always seemed to be shouting & drunk! Ok through the day or evening BUT EVERY NIGHT?!...at ALL NIGHT?!....one night we were getting ready to go out & our door was opened by another 'guest',so drunk he didn't know where his room was! I heard a few other guests complaining about the noise through the night as well,so we weren't the only ones being disturbed by it. I was also under the impression there was a swimming pool at the hotel, however there isn't & we aren't beach goers, there is a roof top terrace but it's not in use, a few loungers & parasols up here would be great. Really disappointed with our stay. To sum it up its cheap, basic accommodation, basic but adequate breakfast, staff ok,clean, tiny bathroom (1/2 size bath) & everything crammed into a tiny space, compared to the size of the room. Very doubtful if we,Il be back.
The best thing about my stay was...Close to promenade & beach

Hotel is very close to beach, only 20 mins by bus from airport and easy to reach Palma and beyond if weather lets you down. Accommodation is basic but clean and breakfast is simple cold buffet. There are two great local restaurants 25 yds away. I have stayed here 4 times and it is good value for money and open all year. Staff are a little cold but who cares?
The best thing about my stay was...Location and price

Our 6th or 7th stay at the Playa Sol
Mr T Magee, Runcorn, Cheshire, England
As usual we were made welcome. The staff, without exception, were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely room (which we specifically asked for); they were cleaned daily and clean towels were provided daily. The buffet breakfast was, as usual, excellent. For value for money the Playa Sol takes some beating.
The best thing about my stay was...The friendly atmosphere which made us feel at home

Playa Sol is very good basic accommodation, excellent value for money, very clean and comfortable in a convenient and quieter location. Not too near the more unpleasant touristy bit but close enough to stroll there if you want to, and to the beach too. The staff are not really very friendly and helpful but then I did witness another guest being quite rude so I suppose they have reason to be circumspect, but I would certainly recommend Playa Sol if you are looking for a place to stay and are fairly self sufficient!

We stayed for the 6th time (or 7th) between Feb 18th and 27th and, as always, found the hotel great value for money. As usual it was spotlessly clean, the breakfast selection was first-class and the staff always friendly and helpful.

This is only a small family hotel but I was amazed how clean it was. I must praise the staff you would not find a speck of dust. I would recommend this place.

Ondina hotel review
Hotel and rooms were clean, food was tasty, for dinner it was two main courses, one of fish and one of meat, lots of salad and deserts. The pool was very small, but the sea is near the hotel, so it was not a big problem. The only bad thing was young german tourist, we stayed one week and on all nights was horrible noise.

Although this was a 2 star hotel i was very impressed. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was very clean. I would recomend this hotel to anyone on a short stay who wants to go out and explore the island. However, i wouldn"t recomend it for children as it is on a main road and on the back streets of the town, but for us it was a nice break and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Alpha Rooms.<br /><br />Yours thankfully<br />Mrs Karen Jacques

I can only endorse the views of Leanne Parry (09/08/2005) and Donna Mansfield (28/06/2005) with regard to the hotel. Me and my friend Tommo booked the hotel for the fortnight Oct 8th to Oct 22nd, including a balcony. We were expecting no more than reasonable basic meals for the money we paid for half board. We were wrong the meals were of a very high standard and plentiful. I would recommend that anybody visiting the hotel take a kettle and possibly radio/cd player because there are no tv or tea making facilities. The only fault is the thin mattresses and hard boards which make up the beds. Bogarts and Beachcomber bars are well worth visiting. If you like hill walking see Nicky in Bogarts he will tell you of some of the good walks around the island. Thanks to Alpharooms for organising the room and everything went without a hitch with the booking etc. Excellent value for money.

Review of 'ONDINA'
We stayed at the Ondina from Oct 8th to 15th and found the hotel more than adequate for our needs. The downstairs lobby is clean and spacious with a bar that is open until midnight - although not many people were drinking there. <br /><br />The food was acceptable, with a good variety of cereals, breads, meats etc at breakfast. Evening buffet consisted of soup, salads and a limited selection of hot meals - choice wasn't huge but what we got was always good. There was a decent selection of desserts to finish off.<br /><br />The rooms are very basic but they are cleaned daily, ideal for just taking a shower and sleeping in.<br /><br />The hotel is situated about 5 mins walk from the beach front, which is an excellent walk with plenty of refreshment stops along the way, the beach is clean and good for swimming.

Opted for the Ondina for a cheap break instead of Butlins, looked at reviews before I booked so had a reasonable insight into the area and hotel. Upon arriving the reception looked very nice but having got our room key my impression changed. We were stuck on the 5th floor with a small very small patio. The noise was alarming and my two children were very frightened. In the morning was asked to be moved which we were into a better room right by the pool. The food is catered for German guests but if you like salad and pasta like me you have struck gold. The beach and sea was fab I even had a dip which was a shock to my children. The resort was lovely at night but again catered for Germans with the majority of them being very rude. One good thing, we were not jumped upon to enter the bars and resturants as we probably stuck out (football shirts and caps). If you want a lovely beach holiday then Arenal was great but not for kids, as for the Ondina, again not for kids but was clean with maid service every day but the whole of Arenal is German based with hardly an Englishman insight. But you know the saying - 'you only get what you pay for'.

The Ondina hotel is nearby to the airport making the taxi journey quite painless (costing 18 - 20 euros ), on arrival to the hotel i was pleasantly surprised to find the reception looking so smart and modern. The receptionist spoke good english and was friendly. The room we had was quite large with 4 single beds and a reasonably new cot, it also had 2 balconies, although dont expect to see a lot from your balcony as it is very built up around the hotel. The rooms are dated and very basic but were cleaned by the daily maid service. The pool is small and always shaded so we gave it a miss. Food is reasonable with a varied selection in the evening complimented by a salad cart, but as nice as the restaurant is there is far too many guests to be seated there. Restaurant staff were friendly and helpful unlike the rest of the hotel guests who were rude and ignorant (this hotel is predominantly occupied by Germans 99% as is the rest of the resort). Beach is nice, and there are a few good restaurants along the seafront but be wary of pickpockets who do operate in teams along the main road. There are 3 good english bars close by to the hotel which all show live sporting events and serve a decent breakfast! These are 'The Hole In The Wall, Beachcomber Bar and The Queen Vic'<br />To sum the package up, the hotel is good value for money but the resort is very lacking in entertainment for the Brits (which is very important when taking young children), beach good, shops- average, bars and restaurants ok.

Review of 'ONDINA'
We enjoyed our holiday so much. Hotel is very nice, rooms are simple, comfortable bed, desk, wardrobe, some chairs and nice bathroom, but what else do you need on your vacation? important thing is that is very clean (housekeeper comes to your room every day, you get every day everything what you need, clean towels etc...). The Restaurant (after the modernization) is nice with very good food (breakfast & dinners) air conditoned. Few times we had to wait long time to get the table, there was more people than tables. Staff was OK. Very close to the beach. We had room with the balcony. We saw that some of them are with not so nice view, so we were very lucky. In front of our balcony there was a disco with loud music but only untill 11 - sometimes 12pm. So I can recommend this hotel because is cheap and for this money I think is very dificult to find the hotel like ONDINA. Thank You.
