Very quiet good value 3 star hotel
Juliet, Liverpool UK
This hotel is very quiet, suitable for mature couples looking to relax, quite dated in parts but bar and pool area nice and modern, would recommend all inc option as no where near to eat nearby, food always hot, two mains and two fish available every sitting, fresh soup, cheeses, salads, rice ,cooked meats, chips and bread. There is no entertainment it is VERY quiet and evenings are for relaxing over a cocktail or coffee. Staff are very quiet and unobtrusive they do not bother you but are polite and chatty if you start a conversation, they work very hard. Free mini bus to quateria and villamura, approx 7 euros in a taxi, a big Lidl 15 mins walk away, large market by lidl on wednesdays, 25 min bus ride bus stop to Faro by Lidl, waterpark 10 min car ride away or 30 min walk. Not really a holiday for children or party people. Pool area nice with sunbeds and a hilly sun terrace also a smaller quieter pool with no services at the far end of the resort. Superior room 104 was large with iron, hairdryer and small fridge dated but adequate
The best thing about my stay was...Very relaxed, food was hot with always something to eat.

Good value for money
Very clean value for money hotel . I would say three star is accurate . Family rooms are large with a separate area with curtain for the children - breakfast was good The noise of dogs barking was annoying The food from the pool bar is only served until 3pm which is a little annoying We only used this as a base as we had family in vale do lobo and it served our purpose well
The best thing about my stay was...Pool side was very clean

We had a lovely holiday here. Though it is a fair distance from the nearest town and beaches, it was no problem with a hired car. The rooms were kept clean and ths staff were very friendly and helpful.

Worst holiday ever! what a shame!
janan saher, luton
Just returned from Pinhal Do Sol- and glad to be back. I will start with the good points about this place. Its very clean, you can get free bus tranfers to and from the beach and marina regularly. Its a budget break, you get what you pay for, the food is ok-not much choice. I really felt sorry for the kids as there really isnt anything for them there. No entertainment except karaoke. Me and my sister booked a long weekend (fri-mon) after having a terrible 2 months (i miscarried). She thought i could do with a quiet break. On arrival at 10am we were told our rooms would not be ready until 2pm, we didnt really mind waiting as we were just happy to be there. We went to the bar and smiled at the waitress (jessica) she turned and said ''do not smile at me, i hate smiling'' we laughed at first as we thought that must be her trying to be funny. she then said she didnt like me as i had the same hair colour as her??(odd) and then we asked for some sangria-she added ''i hate you both more now''? we again laughed-with shock??!! i replied-this is a good start-she smirked and said ''hhmmm your new yeah..great! but please do not smile at me''. I was so angry i allowed her to make me feel so rubbish. We went to the pool and at lunchtime she walked passed us in the restaurant and said ''you are still here'' we laughed again-its was such an awkward situation you didnt know what to do? i went to get my lunch and she said to my sister ''i think she has eaten enough'' (im a size 14 and very concious of my weight after everything) -my sister looked horrifed and we immediately went and complained- i was very upset. The receptionist straight away said ''oh this is jessica'' as though she knew instantly who we were talking about. She said she would speak to her. We spent the next day/night out of the hotel as i was so upset and we didnt really make use of the all inclusive we paid for. We decided to return to the bar and restaurant as this was our holiday and no one was going to make us feel bad. When we returned to the bar she said ''oh you'', we ordered our sangria and she added ''i wont make it nice''?? we left and sat with some friends we met there, she came over and said ''i hope i dont see you later because i hate people who make complaints''- i was so embarrassed. Later a waitress came and asked if we wanted drinks then jessica said something in another language and the waitress said ''im sorry she will hate me if i serve you-because you complained about her'' she walked off. I was in total shock- never in my life have i ever experienced anything like this..This experience made my whole weekend awful- i was always feeling awkward-my sister would order drinks and we would always be insulted. This was supposed to be a weekend to make me feel better and i was just so down, i couldnt wait to get home. We spent most of our time outside of the hotel, she overheard us telling some friends we were leaving the following day and she walked past and said ''good''- Our friend said just complain again but we were so fed up and didnt want to give her the reason the treat us any worse. I spoke to other people who had very different experinces and said she was lovely to them, i also spoke to some who had similar experiences to us. Im sure there were more good points about this place but we didnt get to experience them as Jessica made it well and truely horrible for us to want to stay. I dont know how she gets away with, i run a health spa and if any of my staff dared to speak to my clients in that way they would be out the door in a flash. Our bath leaked, you will not find a fridge in your room (as all inclusive i expected at least somewhere to put cold water) we stayed in the converted villa at the end of the resort (we hadnt asked for this?) and walking back down a pitch black pathway for 5-10 min at night is very uncomfortable. We paid for all inclusive and never really made the most of it, i now feel like i could do with a break after that stressful weekend. Im still in shock but to be honest i doubt if anything will change there as she walks around doing this sort of thing all day. I have never complained about anything in my life- I just wish we would of the had the same experience that others had on here, jessica is a bully, rude and because of her i will never return to pinhal do sol nor will i recommend this hotel. Thankyou you Fatima (receptionist) for trying to resolve the issue even though it made things worse. thankyou to the maids for always helping where they can. Mario for his smiles. Room 316-

Nice hotel at a good price
martin weir, derby
Well you get what you pay for here. We sayed half board and had a lovely room (make sure your room is a superior else people staying basic had lots of complaints and were put quite far away from the pool reception etc) Our room had aircon a fridge safe iron ironing board and hairdryer. It was cleaned everyday and overall we would rate the room as 1 lf the best we have stayed in. As for being half board on our voucher it said 1st drink included with your evening meal. Just beware this is not the case and we had a run in over this the 1st night as you have to pay for all drinks accept at breakfast. The hotels minibuses are also hit and miss as they were that busy but you do have to rely on them for getting around as everything is so spread out in portugal. We hired a car and went to albufeira for the day to zoomarine. We also went to the waterpark down the road called aquashow well worth a visit and villamoura marina is a must see with all the posh boats.
The best thing about my stay was...Relaxing

We have just returned after 9 excellent days staying at the Pinhal Do Sol. The accommodation was excellent, very spacious for a family room. The food was first class and the staff were extremely friendly. I highly recommend this Hotel to any family who want a quiet relaxing time. It is also only a 10 minute walk to the water park.

Bardzo fajny hotel. Spokojny, cisza, naprawdę można wypocząć. Bardzo duże pokoje. Wyżywienie bardzo dobre, wspaniały kucharz. Plaża również mało zatłoczona. Na pewno wróciłabym do tego hotelu.

Good accommodation, facilities - food so so
Allan Dearing, Kinross
Good and roomy accommodation. Good facilities for families and couples. Quiet location. Staff friendly and helpful. Minibus service to Quartiera and Vilamoura, but excellent location for airport, beaches, country and golf courses if hiring a car. Food adequate but definitely not haute cuisine. Superb VFM through Alpharooms.
The best thing about my stay was...With a car on doorstep to everywhere.

Great service, friendly staff...
Mrs Julia Waddington, Huddersfield
Ok, let's get things into prospective, this is a budget hotel and therefore you get what you pay for. My husband and I have just returned from a 2 weeks all-inclusive holiay here and cannot praise either the hotel or its staff high enough. Our room was one of the smaller ground floor rooms, but having said that it was more than adequate with comfortable beds, plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. There was also a small bistro table and chairs outside the frenchdoors (leading into the grassed area) which offered a private spot to chill if you wanted. The rooms were made up every day, beds made (sheets changed twice per week) bathroom cleaned and fresh towels daily. The walk to the restaurant and bar wasn't a problem as there is a covered walkway available if it rains. The food at breakfast was excellent, don't think we had the same thing twice as there was lots of choice. The evening meal had also lots of choice, upto five courses if you wanted! although the cooks' insistance on 'vitamina' was sometimes a bit pushy. The only weak point in the meals was perhaps the lunches, these were a bit boring and lacked inspirtion, but having said that they were still fine as a snack. The bar was usually well served (ringing the little bell at quiet times usually brought a member of staff quickly ) Mario had really got his work cut out when the Spanish decended for a long weekend! However he soon returned to his usual sunny self...as did the rest of the stressed staff. The choice of drinks was very good, I like to try different cocktails etc when on holiday and I wasn't disappointed. The entertainement was a bit hit and miss but still pretty good, especially the Karaoke, the girls who ran this worked really hard to involve everyone, not easy with so many nationalities staying there at the time. Although it was too cold to use the pool, it was always kept clean with sunbeds also available. There were also lots of tables and chairs for those who wished to eat/drink outside, both in the sun and the shade. As for the staff, what can I say about their friendliness, hardworking, commintment to making your stay with them as enjoyable as possible. Special mention must go to the Manager, who seemed to be everywhere! One minute behind reception, then driving the free mini-bus to the nearby resorts of Quarteria and Vilamora, or even serving behind the bar. One other staff member who also deserves praise is Christina. She was the best. Always helpful, friendly and willing with a smile on her face, nothing seemed too much trouble for her. This is my second time at this hotel but my husbands first and we have both agreed we would have no problems with staying here again or recommending it to others.
The best thing about my stay was...The friendliness of the staff.

3 star peaceful
Brian bollen, Olhao
This is a nice little place we only stayed one night but enjoyed every minute of it. We were checked in at 13.00hrs which was really nice as you are not supposed to check in until 14.00hrs lovely spacious room with all you would need for a short stay all inclusive, small fridge hair dryer and kettle air-con and balcony. As usual a lot of people have given negative comments about rudenesss absolutely ridiculous it works both ways !!!we couldnt find the staff more helpful and they really worked hard during meal times to clear and bring out new variaties of food. How can you complain about the food in the evening (against my Diet) i had steak and chips even shirley valantine had that every tuesday !!!! Okay the barman was a little bit grumpy chill out how would you like to stand behind that bar with people demanding drinks from every angle whether they needed them or not !! But the all inclusive bar shuts at 22.00 and not at 22.30 as the travel companies state this is written quite clearly on the welcome notes when you arrived.(never seen a bar clear so quickly) We stayed on for abit as we had really enjoyed the karaoke evening and it didnt exactly break the bank 5 euros for 2 large beers. The pool area was very clean although dont expect to use any pool in the Algarve until late April early may trust me on this one i live here all winter. For what we paid in relation to what we ate and drank i can only say cheers !!! If you encounter heavy rain during your stay as we often do you can reach the restuarant and bar by taking the lift to the second floor and walking across the walkway under cover.Guess you have already read about shuttle bus didnt use this so cant comment, but taxis are very cheap to town 5 euros. My advice to all travellers go with and open mind and a few Phas fovors and obrigados wouldnt go amiss !!(please and thankyous)and you will have a great holiday and dont be frightened of asking for something !!!!
The best thing about my stay was...Karaoke night

This Hotel is a 3 star Hotel
Mrs Kay, London
The Room we were allocated was very cold and the heating was not working properly. I complained 6 times before we were moved to another room. The Superior room is spacious but basic. We booked all incluisive which was great but the food was more or less the same every day. Rice and Chips . The staff were friendly and helpful .This hotel is not near the town but the hotel has a shuttle bus which takes you to town. They were an hour late picking us back from town . We opted for a taxi which cost around 5 Euros. This hotel is fine for a few days but not for a week .

Although a little way from the main resort, if you're looking for a quiet, restful holiday, choose Pinha Do Sol. Pay the little extra for the Superior Rooms - so much space and the best hotel beds we've ever slept in! Food is good for evening meal - mains not self service but you can go back for as much as you want. Nice pool, though a little deep for poor swimmers. Minibus to the resort is very convenient and welcome after a day looking at the shops or spent at the marina. 4 star hotel for a 3 star price. Thoroughly recomend.
The best thing about my stay was...Lovely clean, large rooms

Peaceful and Relaxing
We stayed here for 7 nights last week in August. We arrived at the hotel 9.30pm but were promptly invited to an evening meal that we were not expecting due to the time, so very nice. The room was located at the back on the first floor, very big, spacious and plenty of room for all 4 of us, clean, tidy, nice linen and towels, sofa, TV and a kettle (will need to take your own coffee or buy from reception), also a mini fridge for keeping the all important wine cool, along with an air con unit in the room. We were told by other guest the rooms on the ground floor were smaller, no fridge, kettle etc. The room was cleaned, swept, mopped daily and beds made with a change of towels. The pool area although fairly small was clean and adequate, there were approx 25 sun beds which was fine as I think it was coming to the end of school holidays, I don’t think I would have liked it here at peak times as the restaurant small and got very hot and sometimes too busy, you were welcome to eat outside as well. Breakfast was help yourself buffet style with the usual, breads, toasts, rolls, jams, cereals, cakes, yogurts, fruit, a very small hot selection, eggs, beans, sausage, etc not a vast choice but more than adequate. Evening meal started at 7pm with a daily soup, small salad selection, then a hot (served) from a hotplate meal, 2 fish, 2 meat with usually chips or potatoes, we found the food fairly good, there was always something from the 4 main meals offered that was suitable, my children particularly like the lasagne and spag bol (saying it was better than mine-think not!), there were a few deserts to choose from, all in all, limited choice but fine for us. We found the bar prices for soft drinks far too expensive, in most cases more than alcoholic prices, so be warned. There is a small supermarket within a 5 min walk but get precise instructions as no signs and we were just told 2nd right and we had 2 attempts at finding it and then only by chance. Here canned drinks were only 50p so bought here and took back to the hotel. There is a weekly market on a Wednesday at the end of the road, mainly handbags, shoes and belts. The hotel minibus goes to the marina, town and beach several times a day free of charge, we found it reliable and handy as went out for 3 separate days out (if you go to the marina there is a fair sized supermarket there if you want to stock up before your return journey which is at the mini bus drop off/pick up point) There is the aqua park with a 15 min walk, however we did not go. There was a few evenings entertainment, fair but not really brilliant, mainly singers, key board players. There is a great restaurant bar 5 minutes walk, right out the hotel on the left hand side, not much to look at from outside but a warm welcome and great food at fair prices. This is a smallish hotel which we would recommend for peace, quiet and a very relaxing time and we would go back again.
The best thing about my stay was...Small, informal, relaxing hotel, not much for childen though.

Excellent budget break
Barbara John, South Wales
We stayed at the Pinhal do Sol for a long weekend break on a B&B basis. Rooms were excellent size and very clean with linen changed daily. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice pool area, although quite small and I would imagine would be difficult to get a sun lounger when hotel is busy. Hotel is situated a bit further out from main beach area but the hotel provides a minibus several times a day to Quarteira and Villamoura, so was not a problem at all. Breakfast buffet was a bit limited but sufficient, and there's not a lot of room in the restaurant when queueing for food, so was a bit of a free for all. We did eat there one evening (for which we paid 10euros each) and were very disappointed at lackof variety available - would not have enjoyed if paid for all inclusive option. Overall, hotel itself was excellent value for money and as it was only 25 mins from airport, suited our requirements perfectly for a short break in the sun. However, I don't think I would choose it for a longer holiday and would probably choose Villamoura instead where you have the marina and lovely beach facilities within walking distance.
02 May 2010
Excellent quiet location, near Vilamoura and Quarteira. Nice pool, rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast could be better, but overall a nice hotel, and was very cheap. I recommend for those with a car and GPS (finding it without could be difficult).
