Located on Turkey’s west coast, the former fishing village of Kusadasi is now a thriving purpose-built resort. A choice of 8 stunning beaches is undoubtedly the main draw, but there’s a little bit of everything here – lush scenery, vibrant nightlife, amazing food, fascinating archaeological sites and sunny weather all year round. Kusadasi is ideal for your beach holiday whether you’re a couple looking for romance, or a family wanting a fun-filled break.
A wealth of activities
There’s plenty to do besides relax on one of the many beaches. Kusadasi hasn’t entirely lost its old-world charm, with plenty of little cobbled streets, bazaars and traditional taverns to look out for, and ancient ruins to explore. Night owls will be delighted by the selection of bars, pubs and clubs on offer. There are also three waterparks within easy reach of the town, perfect if you’ve got kids.
Out and about
Pigeon Island – not really an island but a peninsula connected to the mainland – makes a great destination for a day out. It has a Byzantine castle to explore, and is also where a lot of Kusadasi’s best restaurants and bars are located. In spite of the name, it’s not overrun with pigeons! If you’re prepared to venture further afield, the ruined city of Ephesus is a highly popular archaeological site and can be reached in half an hour.
Things to Do in Kusadasi
On the beach in Kusadasi
Out of the many beaches around Kusadasi, three are worth a special mention. The first is Ladies Beach – named as it was once for women only – which is the largest. It’s popular with windsurfers and is backed by a chic promenade filled with bars and restaurants. Long Beach is best for various water sports and snorkelling, while Kustur Beach is a short dolmus bus ride away, and is perfect if you’re looking for somewhere a bit quieter. All three beaches are great for sunbathing, swimming and admiring the beautiful Turkish scenery.
Eat and drink in Kusadasi
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Kusadasi, with varied restaurants offering everything from traditional Turkish fare to international and fusion cuisine. As it’s a coastal resort, seafood is a particular specialty and can be enjoyed in abundance in the seafront restaurants.
Try some Raki, a locally-made aniseed-flavoured drink, with your seafood dishes.
For some of the best nightlife in town, head to Kaleici, the area just inside the old city walls. There are lots of bars, pubs and discos offering a variety of music styles to suit all tastes. The two “bar streets” are lined with old stone buildings converted into clubs and bars, particularly Turkish and Irish establishments.
Shopping in Kusadasi
Kusadasi is home to numerous markets, boutiques and shopping centres, as well as a choice of bazaars running close to the harbour. The markets are an explosion of sights, sounds and colours, with stalls selling everything from carpets to imitation designer brands to fresh fruit and veg.
Don’t be afraid to haggle for a good price.
Things to see in Kusadasi
At least 2000 years old, the ancient city of Ephesus is great for history lovers. The ruins are better preserved than in Rome itself, and you can visit fascinating sights such as the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Hadrian. You can even see what’s left of some ancient public toilets!
It’s well worth paying for a guided tour as the archaeological site is enormous.
An authentic Turkish restaurant serving up local specialties such as fresh wood-fired flatbread, succulent meats and delicious meze. It’s family-run with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere.
Some Where Else
This unusually named Irish pub is a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth it to try one of their excellent cocktails with a view of the sunset. They also serve food, with a mean Sunday roast on the menu!

5/10 food - chicken is a king, food taste ok but after few days you think is nothing to eat (breakfasts are not so special if you do no, t like eggs), 5/10 drinks - poor choice for all inclusive some times drinks are strong , some you feel like you drink just water, 8/10 staff - always helpful, 6/10 - animators team, they trying to be nice but I hate when they kick and hit in head each other, maybe different culture. 6/10 swimming pool - area good for swimming but water quality and afternoon temperature need to be improved (probably not change since hotel open).
The best thing about my stay was...10/10 rooms and bathrooms are super clean. Towels change everyday.

3/4 star quality Food. Good Swimming Pool area. Always found spare pool-side beds. But.. there was limited or no water (cold or hot) for 4 nights we stayed -between 6pm and 8 pm when need to shower/shave. We complained each evening but problem was not resolved. Complained at our exit from hotel too for this to be registered.
The best thing about my stay was...swimming pool size and setup.

No place I'd rather be
My stay in the Palmin was nothing less than amazing, with being all inclusive it felt like I was in a chilled out bubble for a week, hanging out in the hotel by the gorgeous pools and taking part in daily activities ESP Zumba with the 100% amazing entertainment staff, followed by trips to hotel spa, so glamorous. The evening then was spent resting in our spacious room with glorious views, and our evening meal I in the dining room where everyone gathers like a huge family with so much food everything you could imagine and is absolutely tops with presentation. The evening show and the live music is the perfect ending to each night. Last but not least the staff are out of this world so helpful, very attentful to there job and could not make you feel comfortable during your stay. Pure Amazing is the Palmin
The best thing about my stay was...The entertainment staff made our holiday

Needs Updating, Staff are wonderfull
I stayed in the Palmin when it first opened in 2002 and I was looking forward to my return visit, However I was slightly disappointed at the state of repair of some parts of the hotel. The shower in bedroom was useless and sprayed water all over the place, Some towels had holes and were frayed, However the indoor pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi and wellness centre were exceptional, and well worth a visit. Dirty cutlery and plates in restaurant, But, the Staff were brilliant, and couldn't do enough for you, The entertainment staff were great at getting everyone involved, and lots to do throughout the day (Yoga, Aerobics, Zumba, Darts ect), evening entertainment was good and varied (I really enjoyed the Kenyan Acrobats). Also the food wasn't great, But it never is for all inclusive, The dolmus service stops outside the hotel which is great for getting to Kusadasai centre, and only costs 2.25lira (less than €1.00). If there was a bit of a refurb done this hotel would be brilliant, and I would definitely go back.
The best thing about my stay was...The Staff - So friendly and helpfull
