UPs & Downs but happy ending
Alona J, Dublin, Ireland
We had quite high expectations about this hotel and having mixed opinions. We stayed 3 nights in the beginning of December on HB basis. On the positive: hotel location and views - amazing, no comments!! hotel outside area is well maintained and manicured, beautiful! hotel stuff is friendly. hotel food is nice but not great - high quality ingredients are used but not always cooked at best. I loved fresh smoothies in the mornings, grilled fish and wide variety of deserts. Also, we arrived early and were allowed to check in straight away - which was highly appreciated. On the negative: at the time of check in, the reception girl read loud our room preferences: " non smoking, sea - view," smiled and gave us the key. We got to the room and, surprise, surprise - we got the view on the car park, not the sea. I should mention that we did not pay for the view, but that was pity as hotel was not even at 50% capacity and she did not mention about upgrade. Our room was "refurbished' but needed love as few bits were done by cowboy builder for sure (i will try to upload few pictures later). 110 EUR per nigh HB is not that cheap, so I was REALLY UPSET. Next morning we discovered ants in our room, we contacted the reception. They promised to clean it IMMEDIATELY, but it was done 6 hours later. Room had strong smell after. When we woke up next morning, the ants were not only on the floor, but i found many more in my bed... I freaked out and went to complain. The manager offered me a new room which was MUCH nicer and with the view. It was the room I wanted to come back. If i were to judge the hotel based on my first room experience - I would never ever come back, but seen the other I might reconsider. It worth to mention that there are a LOT of mosquitoes (probably because of the flooded area/beach), so take lots of repellents! Also, there was something wrong the phone in the room, so we found that somebody was in our room, with beds moved (we were not aware about the malfunctioning). The second time I found 2 maintenance guys sitting on my bed chatting and "working" which was not great either as this hotel ranks itself as 4 stars. The moral of the story, if you book the simple room (but not necessary pay cheap) - you may not wish to come back to this place. Hotel is great if you want to unwind, enjoy walking along the beach, love swimming and water sport and/or have romantic time together.
The best thing about my stay was...Sea, Beach & Hotel outdoors

Our second time here, will definitely come back. Location is amazing for it's beautiful beaches. Anyone interested in sports, kiting, windsurfing or just relaxing on a white sandy beach and green blue sea - that's the place to go. Plenty choice of food, hotel very clean, staff friendly. You can walk to Costa Calma (3km)or rent a car and go to Moro Jable for a day - nice town with little more action if that's what you're looking for.
The best thing about my stay was...Great location, great food, good service

Had an amazing 5 nights here. Was upgraded to a room with sea and desert and pool views on The Level (9th floor). Views were spectacular. Food was delicious and plenty of choice. Service was impeccable throughout. Handy on site mini market at decent prices. Plenty of sun loungers, loads going on in the day and evening. Loved it!!

Enjoyed every minute
Louise Wardle, Tenerife, Spain
Stayed at the hotel for 4 night, service at check in was fast and friendly. The room was very spacious and the views fantastic. The whole holiday experience was very enjoyable if you want peace and quite, there is some entertainment in the hotel which was ok. The only criticism I have is the food, it was sufficient but not very hot.
The best thing about my stay was...Relaxation

Best 4* accomm on island
Gerry Ellis, Lichfield
Having just returned from Melia Gorriones which is south of the island, I can say that the hotel was beautiful. My expectations were met and beyond. The only one bad thing I have to say is that you have 1 hour of entertainment in the evening. There is nothing around as you are completely issolated within a 4kilometre distance. The food was excellend but I knew with the hotel being mainly German and Skandinadian (where they have very high standards) it would not disappoint. If you do stay at this hotel, I would go All Inclusive as the drinks are expensive. If you do stay Half Board, then water from the pool bar is FREE. I can say that I will not return to Fuertevenura, but not because of the accommodation, I feel the island is undeveloped and too barron (roads, hills and mountains - I felt I was in the desert).
The best thing about my stay was...Room with a sea view, food and drink on tap

Family / Kiteboarding holiday
Vitaly, Latvia, Riga
Very nice position, there is nothing around you except wide sandy beaches and the sea! Plenty of space in the rooms, nice staff, good food. when it is windy there is a problem to find a quiet place for the baby, wind gets everywhere. Generally very positive memories and it was our 2nd stay in this hotel and next time we go to Fuertaventura we stay there again, mostly because of the location and kiting!

Nice Hotel, could be better
john de fretes, rotterdam, the netherlands
We stayed in the Casas del Mar section of the hotel for 11 nights of windsurfing vacation in april 2009. The room with seaview was beautifull with the best beds you can get in a hotel, breakfast is even to critical guests like us exellent because of wide variety and high quality. Unfortunately dinner was of less quality than we expected from a 4 star hotel. Why only 3 stars? : the hotel is upgraded a few years ago, but the architects did not bother to make some practical solutions. This means that you have to walk up and down many stairs everyday (four to five levels) to get from room to reception and restaurant. Not al lot of fun on arrival an departure day. Worst of all there are hardly any lifts or alternatives so prepare on a heavy carrying job with suitcases! Internet acces was hardly impossibel, the wifi area worked only 3 out off 11 days! Most important .... windsurfing was great!!

Beautiful hotel with excellent service
I stayed for a week half board in the 'Casas del Mar' section of the hotel. The room was amazing, the view spectacular! The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The food was brilliant, there was so much choice. Breakfast was excellent, and both restaurants by the pool provided tasty lunches. The hotel bars were stunning. My friend and I were the only people still around after 10pm most nights but we did find some friendly staff. The beach is so vast, you feel like you're on the moon and the hotel leads directly onto the beach so you don't have far to go. If you prefer to be near the pool there are plenty of sunbeds and different areas to sunbathe such as the 'platforms' down to the beach which were complete sun traps. Bliss! There isn't much around but that is the beauty of this place, it is like you are in an oasis of beauty rather than a resort. You can take a great walk into Costa Calma along the beach where there are more shops and restaurants. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough, if you want a party holiday then it isn't for you, but if you want relaxation, excellent food and amazing surroundings then book now.
