Nice hotel, with lovely pool area and helpful staff

Had a lovely stay there was five of us travelling and we had 2 rooms. Our 3 friends moved room the next day as there was 2 normal beds and a camp bed and we requested 3 normal beds in the triple room. (there is only 2 rooms in the hotel that have 3 normal beds in a triple room) The rooms are quite spacious and bathrooms are adequate with separate toilet. The rooms only had a large mirror in the bathroom and three small mirrors over the bed not near to any plugs so when there's 3 women all trying to get ready at same time and fighting over mirror space its not easy, so I would suggest taking a small mirror! There was a fridge in the room which was great but when we went to the supermarket to get some supplies (water, beer and nibbles) we was told that we could bring these items into the hotel as we could purchase these from them. We ended up having to pay the hotel 300dhs (£25) to be allowed to keep them and drink them, had a huge discussion with the front desk about this but they weren't backing down and we decided it was still cheaper than buying them from the hotel as they charge £2.50 for a small can £1.50 for a large bottle of water. If you do go to the supermarket to buy these item I suggest not doing a BIG SHOP like we did and make a couple of journeys and hide them in your bag. It was our friends birthday whilst we was there and I decorated her room in banners and gave her a badge to wear and the hotel were very thoughtful and made her a cake and brought it to the room for us (at no extra charge). For breakfast its mainly pastries and bread, cheese, scrambled egg (which was very runny), small sausage and potatoes. There was a small selection of cereal and a big bowl of fruit salad but you have to be up early to get that. All in all had a great time apart from the smuggling of the drinks malarky. The rest of the staff were lovely and very helpful and I would stay at the hotel again if I was to go to Marrakech as it had a lovely big pool and nice gardens and was only 20dhs (£1.60 in a petit taxi which holds max 3 people) to the main souk/square. A taxi from the airport will cost about 200dhs but its cheaper on the way back between 100-150dhs. When you arrive in Marrakech you'll need to change your money in the terminal to get dirhams which is easy enough and just remember that it is a muslim country and a lot of restaurants don't serve alcohol (luckily we had miniature vodkas with us)!!

The best thing about my stay was...

Comfortable beds and nice pool area

Excellent Hotel

This was our second visit to Marrakech, but this time as we had gone to Morocco to hike in the mountains, and stay in Berber houses, we weren't bothered about staying in a riad, when we got back to the city. Couldn't believe our luck when we arrived. Beautiful hotel, very large room, and with a bath to soak our aching limbs in! This is a first class hotel, for the money we paid. Absolutely spotless, with a lovely garden, and pool that you sit beside to have a more than adequate breakfast. It is a walk from the square, but cabs only cost around £2 for the journey.

OK for Marakesh

We had a 3rd floor room facing the pool. Lower floors have very small balconies, and facing outwards would face the car park or side of other hotels. The beds were clean and comfy, cleaned and serviced daily. Staff friendly and helpful. Hot breakfast a bit poor except for hot pancakes and crumpets cooked in front of you, and lots of other choices. Poolside snacks O.K. and evening meals very good but a bit pricey. Restaurants in Marakesh can be a bit pricey too, but you could eat very cheaply in the old town - the nearer you get the cheaper they are, but the less comfortable you might be eating there! Drinks very expensive of -course - go to the big supermarket and buy your own to put in your fridge. Hotel is a little run down and a bit shabby - could do with a bit of money spending on it. The paint on the walls of our balcony had been sploshed all over the floor - such a shame because this was once obviously a very grand building. However, i get the impression that this is probably true of a lot of hotels in Marakesh! We wanted to be out of the chaos of the old town, but it's a little bit too far out - best area would be Hivernage if that's what you wamt. Taxis very cheap though - remeber to barter. Overall, we had a great time and no problems with this hotel. Very quiet hotel which would suit couples a lttle more 'mature' than ourselves.
