This hotel is not a family hotel what so ever, the food is repetative and Sharm as a resort is tacky, nothing egyptian about it! Very expensive. Last but not least ALL INCLUSIVE is a good deal for one week but with the repetative food and only local spirits to do drink it gets very boring very quickly but u really can have as much as u like! If your a group of young lads looking to go get away for a week this hotel would be perfetct base! I disagree strongly with this being sold as a family hotel!

Average hotel in Sharm

The Mercure Luna is now known as the 'Luna Sharm' and is an average hotel in Sharm situated halfway between Naama Bay and the Old Town of Sharm. The staff are helpful and speak very good English. The hotel is clean, housekeeping was good but didn't understand that towels left on the floor in the bathroom meant they were dirty and I wanted new ones. Breakfast was interesting: salad stuff, boiled eggs and Egyptian food plus breads and omelettes cooked to order, and small selection of cereal and fruit. They also had some cakes but these were very dry. Filter coffee was extremely weak. (I did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel and cannot comment on this). It is a 25 egyptian pound ride to Naama Bay where the majority of hotels are and a 20 egyptian pound ride to the Old Town. I did not use the pool but there were not enough sun loungers for all the guests at the hotel. The hotel was going to charge me for a 3 hour late check out somewhere between 100 and 150 EGP pounds (£15-40 GBP) which is a rip off! The Luna Sharm is situated with other hotels (like the Ocean Reef and the Creative Mexicana amongst others) a couple of mini supermarkets and a few shops but not a lot else. The new mall Il Mercato (which is still being completed) is down the road a 10 min walk or 10 egyptian pound taxi ride away, and will be useful for those who can't stay away from Western style shops. I would not stay at this hotel because it is too far away from the centre of Sharm. I had friends stay at the Creative Mexicana and this is a much better standard than the Luna Sharm (and they have a better breakfast and 2 swimming pools).
