This hotel is located close to the beach and within walking distance of most facilities. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful, however, we found some of the dining room staff to be less so. The selection of food for breakfast was good as was the quality, but while there was a large selection of food for evening meal we found the quality of meat and fish to be poor. There was entertainment available every evening, however, we chose to leave the hotel 5 nights out of 7 so I cannot comment on the quality of same. Most disappointing for us was the Bedroom/bathroom. The shower continually overflowed into the bedroom and onto the outside walkway, the bathroom door had water damage at the bottom so this obviously was a long standing problem which hadn’t been addressed. The bedroom had a balcony which overlooked the roofs of adjoining businesses and a street, unfortunately this wasn’t very appealing and I believe with a little imagination, paint and possibly some plants this could be addressed. There is a lovely roof bar and terrace which can be used for sunbathing which has a lovely ambience and fantastic views. The ground level pool area and bar was ok but nothing spectacular. Would I recommend this hotel - probably but with some reservations.

The minute we walked in we was greeted and given our room straight away. Very swift service and friendly with lots of information. Our room was on the 3rd floor sea view. The view was a little restricted front facing because of the trees in a neighbouring property but we could see left and right. The balcony is spacious but my friend found the seating very uncomfortable it was plastic type seats. The room was really nice with a biggish tv on the wall but never used it. The beds are comfy. The shower is very powerful on had a flood a couple of times when door was not shut properly. The only thing we could have had in the room that was not in it was a iron and ironing board. The room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The rest of the hotel is modern and all staff very helpful. The first day we was there we went on the roof terrace and decided to get a burger the young man that served us was nice, but after an hours wait in the mid day sun and no sun lotion on went to investigate and it was another person can't remember his name but he was Italian he was so sorry and made us one. First time for sun burn but it was worth it. The roof terrace is really nice but the dip pools are a bit hard to get out of for some people. The restaurant does serve a lot of different food, but it was either more German or Scandinavian and the labels sometimes did not match the food, eg. it was not tuna in the hot plate. We found some weird food and could not work it out. If you see ham rolled up with what looks like cream cheese be prepared it tastes like toothpaste lol. I think more variety of desserts is needed mainly mousse and little cakes and melon, I did not enjoy the hot food so filled on sweet stuff. The Pool bar staff are really good and you can get a nice burger and fries, sandwiches, toasties. They are always smiley and lovely. You pay 10 euros for your pool towel but you get this back at the end of the week and every time you want a clean towel it is 1 euro. Now a special mention to the lifeguard on duty, he is the most cheerful helpful person I have met on a holiday. He is a credit to the hotel. He even helped out one day on pool aerobics it was so funny just watching he was very good, I think he would make a good entertainer. He cleans up around the pool area, he was really helpful to a elderly gentleman on his own and helped him with his suntan lotion so he did not burn, how many people would do that for someone? he really made our stay enjoyable, if the hotel does employee of the month he certainly deserves it. We would go back just for the service he provided. There is a train outside it is 6 euros and really worth the trip it runs on the hour. He stopped at a panoramic view it was amazing. The evening entertainment we only managed a couple of nights and that was free style dancing and the juggler both were really good. The bar serves up until 11pm. Only a few cocktails on all inclusive. A couple of things we would change that is the lights go out on the balcony dead on 11pm so you have to sit in the dark and we like to have a cigarette and chill after a night out and also need to either change the chairs or a cushion is needed. All in all a good holiday nice location for walking along the beach. We may go back again but we are going to our usual hotel for the next few holidays, not sure if it was worth the extra, we are trying out self catering because we think all inclusive doesn't do it for us any longer.

nice hotel, good location

I stayed at this hotel for a week HB basis. The room was very spacious and comfortable with massive balcony. There were sea views. The food in the restaurant was OK for all meals, some better than others but you will not go hungry here. The staff are all very nice and friendly, both at reception and the bar/restaurant. There is a fridge in the room and the hotel provided a free 1.5l bottle of water on arrival. The TV in the room was not getting any reception so no TV for the week! There were ceiling fans in the room though these can get quite noisy. The pool at the hotel is in shade from about 2pm onwards so the pool then is quite cold for swimming. There are plenty of sunbeds and chairs around the pool and palm trees to give shade etc. There was entertainment every night that lasted about 40-45 mins which was quite good. There is a sloarium (sun deck) on roof of hotel which was always very quiet but can get quite windy up there. nice views across towards the dunes of Maspalomas. Lots of supermarkets close by, and beaches only about 10-15 min walk from hotel.
The best thing about my stay was...weather, solarium and proximity to beaches.

Lovely stay and great location

My boyfriend and I have just got back from an 11-night stay at the Marieta. We had a lovely time in Gran Canaria and the hotel was very nice. We had a 2nd floor sea facing room - 4th floor would be best but this was good enough for us. Room isn't cleaned every day but probably 5/7 which was fine and always to a good standard. Bed was 2 singles pushed together which is kind of annoying but think most hotels round there have the same. We had half board and food was good. I'm vegetarian and options were pretty samey, but can't say I wasn't well fed. Did think soft drinks could be free with dinner. Staff were friendly. Pool area was nice and clean. We didn't get involved much in the hotel's entertainment offer but we did see a fun show and other people seemed to enjoy the rest. Hotel was well located - very close to the beach, shopping centres, buses, etc. Only negative I have is that on our last day we had a late flight so wanted to store our luggage - guy on desk was quite dismissive and said we should just leave it by the counter. This didn't sound safe to us so we had to drag them around and subsequently couldn't then spend last day on the beach as planned, but hey ho. Overall, very happy and had a lovely time.
The best thing about my stay was...Not having to worry about eating out

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was a nice size. The only problem was no proper air condition the rooms got very hot. Buffet food was nice but could of had a better selecting for children.
The best thing about my stay was...Near everything.

This was our 4th time at the Marieta and I have to say that although it won't be everyones cup of tea we have always found the hotel in general, good value for money, we stayed for 10 nights H/B 09/10/10 to the 19/10/10 and knew what to expect, we arrived past midnight having missed our connecting fight and found that when we arrived they had saved our evening meal for us, which was a nice touch, also, when we checked out at 0630 we were allowed into the restaurant for a light breakfast of rolls, coffee, pastries etc. The hotel does cater for mostly Germans and Spanish people, who, on the whole, are of our generation or older, but all that means is that you dont get any drunken yobbos waking you up in the early hours, fine by us. The hotel might be in need of a touch up in places, but the rooms are cleaned nearly every day and the towels changed the same. The staff are approachable and generally friendly, if you can, get a seaview room, if not don't worry, but get one on the 3rd floor or higher, cos there's not much of a view below this, all in all this hotel offers good value for money, close to the beach and friendly staff. Dont go expecting the Ritz and you'll be pleasantly suprised. VFM

The hotel was ideally located just one street from the promenade. The food for breakfast and evening meals was everybodies choose, and always came away pleased from the choose. The rooms cleaned on a daily basis, the hotel was spotless. If you dont mind spending time with other people from different european countries then it is well worth it, we was the only English in the hotel on our stay.
The best thing about my stay was...Friendliness and cleanliness
