Located on Turkey’s west coast, the former fishing village of Kusadasi is now a thriving purpose-built resort. A choice of 8 stunning beaches is undoubtedly the main draw, but there’s a little bit of everything here – lush scenery, vibrant nightlife, amazing food, fascinating archaeological sites and sunny weather all year round. Kusadasi is ideal for your beach holiday whether you’re a couple looking for romance, or a family wanting a fun-filled break.
A wealth of activities
There’s plenty to do besides relax on one of the many beaches. Kusadasi hasn’t entirely lost its old-world charm, with plenty of little cobbled streets, bazaars and traditional taverns to look out for, and ancient ruins to explore. Night owls will be delighted by the selection of bars, pubs and clubs on offer. There are also three waterparks within easy reach of the town, perfect if you’ve got kids.
Out and about
Pigeon Island – not really an island but a peninsula connected to the mainland – makes a great destination for a day out. It has a Byzantine castle to explore, and is also where a lot of Kusadasi’s best restaurants and bars are located. In spite of the name, it’s not overrun with pigeons! If you’re prepared to venture further afield, the ruined city of Ephesus is a highly popular archaeological site and can be reached in half an hour.
Things to Do in Kusadasi
On the beach in Kusadasi
Out of the many beaches around Kusadasi, three are worth a special mention. The first is Ladies Beach – named as it was once for women only – which is the largest. It’s popular with windsurfers and is backed by a chic promenade filled with bars and restaurants. Long Beach is best for various water sports and snorkelling, while Kustur Beach is a short dolmus bus ride away, and is perfect if you’re looking for somewhere a bit quieter. All three beaches are great for sunbathing, swimming and admiring the beautiful Turkish scenery.
Eat and drink in Kusadasi
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Kusadasi, with varied restaurants offering everything from traditional Turkish fare to international and fusion cuisine. As it’s a coastal resort, seafood is a particular specialty and can be enjoyed in abundance in the seafront restaurants.
Try some Raki, a locally-made aniseed-flavoured drink, with your seafood dishes.
For some of the best nightlife in town, head to Kaleici, the area just inside the old city walls. There are lots of bars, pubs and discos offering a variety of music styles to suit all tastes. The two “bar streets” are lined with old stone buildings converted into clubs and bars, particularly Turkish and Irish establishments.
Shopping in Kusadasi
Kusadasi is home to numerous markets, boutiques and shopping centres, as well as a choice of bazaars running close to the harbour. The markets are an explosion of sights, sounds and colours, with stalls selling everything from carpets to imitation designer brands to fresh fruit and veg.
Don’t be afraid to haggle for a good price.
Things to see in Kusadasi
At least 2000 years old, the ancient city of Ephesus is great for history lovers. The ruins are better preserved than in Rome itself, and you can visit fascinating sights such as the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Hadrian. You can even see what’s left of some ancient public toilets!
It’s well worth paying for a guided tour as the archaeological site is enormous.
An authentic Turkish restaurant serving up local specialties such as fresh wood-fired flatbread, succulent meats and delicious meze. It’s family-run with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere.
Some Where Else
This unusually named Irish pub is a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth it to try one of their excellent cocktails with a view of the sunset. They also serve food, with a mean Sunday roast on the menu!

Was so excited to try a 5* holiday village as we tend to stay in hotels. Points to consider prior to booking 1- they charge you a fee around 10 Turkish lira a day to use the safe in your room 2- kids club - really doesn't exist it's an empty room 3- evening entertainment - very poor and umprofessional 4- food isn't great but ok 5- they only serve local drinks and the bar shuts at midnight 6- no iron or room service Basically we won't be coming back 7- staff are all kids doing work experience - but friendly 8- no food for toddlers or milk after breakfast The good thing is your surrounded by beautiful gardens
The best thing about my stay was...The beautiful gardens

Well since our last visit things have gone down hill some what as in food' staff' attitude everything is a major effort ,as for food there has been a compromise on quality I understand this is a typical Brit winge but I am being honest, the animation team love themselves and I found very annoying, bottom line is this not a luxury hotel and it realy does pain me to write this review as only 12 months ago my stay here was amazing to say the least I hope this helps but there are better hotels in Turkey in the kusadsi area
The best thing about my stay was...The quiet pool

The Kustur Club is a lovely hotel set in lovely gardens, it is like a small village with different types of accommodation. The pool is great with the slides on for a couple of hours morning and afternoon. Excellent food with lots of choice, lovely comfortable rooms which are kept very clean and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. The animation team are amazing and work very hard to make sure everyone has fun and enjoys themselves.

We went to the hotel from 25 April till 5 May. We've had very nice weather, and the hotel was very nice. Everything was very clean, even the public toilets, the rooms were very nice; we had a large room which even had these things keeping insects out of the door and windows. The food was also delicious with a lot of fruit. The only thing which we didn't like was that there were only a small amount of people at the hotel, but, then again we went there before the season actually started.

Review of 'CLUB KUSTUR'

We visited the Kustur Club in August at the height of the school holidays. We booked last minute, booking flights, transfers and accommodation independently and saved a packet . It was an absolute bargain. We were a family of four (ages 40,40, 13 & 15) and all inclusive was ideal for us. The accommodation was immaculate. We had a one bed room apartment, 1 double and 2 proper single beds. The holiday village was spotlessly clean with housekeepers tidying up all day long. The pool was good with two slides to keep the children entertained with a fairly biggish pool and there was always sunbeds somewhere to lie on. The food was also good. Very continental with lots of fresh produce. We did hear some Englsih people complaining but if they want full english breakfasts and englsih food then they should go to Blackpool!!! There was always something to eat and the snacks during the day were delicious. The beach was OK but we prefer the pool although we did have a trip on the free pedaloes. Also the Turkish staff were so friendly and desperate to practise their Englsih on us. In fact they said they would prefer more Englsih to visit. All in all, I could not recommend the Kustur Club enough. Happy holidays.
