Located on Turkey’s west coast, the former fishing village of Kusadasi is now a thriving purpose-built resort. A choice of 8 stunning beaches is undoubtedly the main draw, but there’s a little bit of everything here – lush scenery, vibrant nightlife, amazing food, fascinating archaeological sites and sunny weather all year round. Kusadasi is ideal for your beach holiday whether you’re a couple looking for romance, or a family wanting a fun-filled break.
A wealth of activities
There’s plenty to do besides relax on one of the many beaches. Kusadasi hasn’t entirely lost its old-world charm, with plenty of little cobbled streets, bazaars and traditional taverns to look out for, and ancient ruins to explore. Night owls will be delighted by the selection of bars, pubs and clubs on offer. There are also three waterparks within easy reach of the town, perfect if you’ve got kids.
Out and about
Pigeon Island – not really an island but a peninsula connected to the mainland – makes a great destination for a day out. It has a Byzantine castle to explore, and is also where a lot of Kusadasi’s best restaurants and bars are located. In spite of the name, it’s not overrun with pigeons! If you’re prepared to venture further afield, the ruined city of Ephesus is a highly popular archaeological site and can be reached in half an hour.
Things to Do in Kusadasi
On the beach in Kusadasi
Out of the many beaches around Kusadasi, three are worth a special mention. The first is Ladies Beach – named as it was once for women only – which is the largest. It’s popular with windsurfers and is backed by a chic promenade filled with bars and restaurants. Long Beach is best for various water sports and snorkelling, while Kustur Beach is a short dolmus bus ride away, and is perfect if you’re looking for somewhere a bit quieter. All three beaches are great for sunbathing, swimming and admiring the beautiful Turkish scenery.
Eat and drink in Kusadasi
You’re spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out in Kusadasi, with varied restaurants offering everything from traditional Turkish fare to international and fusion cuisine. As it’s a coastal resort, seafood is a particular specialty and can be enjoyed in abundance in the seafront restaurants.
Try some Raki, a locally-made aniseed-flavoured drink, with your seafood dishes.
For some of the best nightlife in town, head to Kaleici, the area just inside the old city walls. There are lots of bars, pubs and discos offering a variety of music styles to suit all tastes. The two “bar streets” are lined with old stone buildings converted into clubs and bars, particularly Turkish and Irish establishments.
Shopping in Kusadasi
Kusadasi is home to numerous markets, boutiques and shopping centres, as well as a choice of bazaars running close to the harbour. The markets are an explosion of sights, sounds and colours, with stalls selling everything from carpets to imitation designer brands to fresh fruit and veg.
Don’t be afraid to haggle for a good price.
Things to see in Kusadasi
At least 2000 years old, the ancient city of Ephesus is great for history lovers. The ruins are better preserved than in Rome itself, and you can visit fascinating sights such as the Great Theatre, the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Hadrian. You can even see what’s left of some ancient public toilets!
It’s well worth paying for a guided tour as the archaeological site is enormous.
An authentic Turkish restaurant serving up local specialties such as fresh wood-fired flatbread, succulent meats and delicious meze. It’s family-run with a friendly, relaxing atmosphere.
Some Where Else
This unusually named Irish pub is a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth it to try one of their excellent cocktails with a view of the sunset. They also serve food, with a mean Sunday roast on the menu!

Our third visit to the Korumar - 4th will be in 2015 for certain!
SCOTT, DORSET UK
WE FIRST STAYED AT THE KORUMAR IN 2002, THEN 2003 AND RETURNED IN 2014 - JUNE. WILL CERTAINLY RETURN IN 2015! SERVICE WAS FIRST CLASS, STAFF SO HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY. ROOM WITH SEA AND POOL VIEW EXCELLENT. THE KORUMAR PROVIDES EVERYTHING ONE WOULD EXPECT FROM A TOP CLASS 5 STAR HOTEL. BUFFET MEALS EXCELLENT. WE ENJOYED THE ALL INCLUSIVE FACILITY - RECOMMENDED. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE FACT THAT THE HOTEL IS LOCATED ON THE TOP OF A HILL. LOVELY WALK INTO TOWN ALONG THE SEA FRONT AND EASY TO CATCH A BUS BACK. No 1 BUSES EVERY FIVE MINUTES AT 2.75 TL EACH AND THEY WILL STOP FOR YOU ANYWHERE. SUCH A RELAXING HOLIDAY. HOTEL AND STAFF FIRST CLASS, VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. THE KORUMAR PROVIDES EVERYTHING ONE WOULD EXPECT AND HOPE FOR IN A FIRST CLASS 5 STAR HOTEL. THE SEA AND POOL VIEW ROOMS ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. DO NOT BE PUT OFF BY THE FACT THAT THE KORUMAR IS ON A HILL OUTSIDE TOWN. IT IS A LOVELY WALK ALONG THE SEA FRONT INTO THE TOWN CENTRE AND CATCHING A No 1 BUS BACK FOR TL 2.75 IS RECOMMENDED. PUT YOUR ARM OUT AND THE DRIVER WILL PICK YOU UP AND DROP YOU RIGHT OUTSIDE THE HOTEL. WE TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE ALL INCLIUSIVE FACILITY WHICH IS RECOMMENDED IF AVAILABLE - SO CONVENIENT AND GOOD VALUE. WE CANNOT FAQULT THIS HOTEL IN ANY WAY, BUT A WORD OF CAUTION WHEN CONSIDERING BOOKING TRIPS. PLEASE REMEMBER REPS (NOT CONNECTED WITH THE HOTEL)F ARE REALLY MORE INTERESTED IN YOUR MONEY THAN THE QUALITY OF THE TRIP. BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL IF BOOKING A BOAT TRIP! WE BELIEVE THE HOTEL COULD IMPROVE THE TRIP AVAILABILITY BY INTRODUCING A MORE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE IN THIS AREA. TO SUMMARISE, A BRILLIANT HOTEL, WITH BRILLIANT STAFF AND FACILITIES - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great Hotel With Fantastic Views
Mrs S.M., Hampshire
The hotel staff were all friendly and could not do enough to help you. Rooms were clean and tidy with lots of space. Meals are buffet style with plenty of choice. Hotel shops somewhat pricey. Plenty of sunbeds and many different places to lay out in the sun and the views are superb. Not much evening entertainment in hotel though. You can walk to town which will take approximately 20 minutes - downhill going and uphill coming back so if you would prefer you can catch a bus outside the hotel. They run every 5 minutes or so. Ayhanusta restaurant/bar on the way to town well worth a visit - its near the marina and one of the cheapest places for beer lol. The town itself sells lots of "designer" (fake) items and you have to be prepared to haggle for a decent price. Everyone tries to get you into their shop which can get a bit wearing at times. All in all a great holiday We first stayed there 2009, returned 2010 and have booked for 2011
The best thing about my stay was...Its so relaxing

We could not have asked for more!!! This is a wonderful Hotel.
E.HANSON, Newport Pagnell
We stayed for 12 nights in the Korumar and were not disappointed. The food was brilliant as too were the staff. We booked a room with a sea view, which was truly magnificent, as we were able to watch the ships coming in and out of Kusadasi. The only negative side to our stay was the fact that Regal Tours left an envelope for us on our arrival whereby their representative a man by the name of Alex would meet us on our first day to advise us on any trips or excursions we wished to go on.This man is dishonest to say the least, we went on a boat trip which was awful, mainly because the food was terrible and the boat itself was both uncomfortable and dirty. The bus trips to Izmir and Pammukella were so uncomfortable with very little room on the bus. We complained to the hotel customer relations lady but she said that they were also fed-up with this Alex.Evidently the company he works for (Regal Tours) have a contract with the Korumar. At the end of the day we do feel that the Korumar really should stop this company leaving envelopes on reception for new arrivals. It is a shame that this man Alex marred what was a wonderful stay.
The best thing about my stay was...The Hotel and its amenities together with the extremely helpful staff
