Hotel Info

Overview

The five-star Ikos Oceania is just across the road from a 350-metre-long sandy beach, so you can expect sweeping views over the Aegean Sea. The hotel is in a good spot for getting out and about, as well – it’s less than a 20-minute walk from Nea Moudania’s pretty harbour, and a string of tavernas and bars.

The hotel’s secret weapon is its infinity pool, which looks out to sea and is framed by greenery, loungers and pergolas. There’s also a separate pool for little ones, and an indoor one, too. Elsewhere, you’ll find a spa, which offers up treatments like the Queen Bee Body Treatment with royal jelly and honey, and the Relaxing Ocean Oil Bath.

As for dining, expect a mixture of pan-global dishes in the buffet restaurant. You can also go down the gourmet road – there are Asian, Italian and Greek à la carte eateries to choose from.

10/10 Amazing

Great hotel and service

All inclusive at Ikos Oceania with my little one (9 months) was great value for money. The infinity pool, private beach, food and drink choices plus the staff were all fabulous. I would definitely go back again.

The best thing about my stay was...

Infinity pool, beach bar and friendliness of the staff

Superb hotel!

Just back from a seven day holiday at the Oceania Club and cannot wait to return. The room, view, food and most of all the service were all second to none. See you in October!

Nice Hotel - A few issues that need addressing!

We booked this hotel on the reviews it had received from trip advisor. Good Bits - On arriving to the hotel the reception staff greeted us outside and were really helpful and friendly. We upgraded to a suite which was amazing and overlooked the sea and was in the block closest to the sea and right next to the pool area. Definitely worth paying the extra as you get a separate bedroom and living area. Bad Bits - We always stay in 5 star properties and have never had a situation where men cannot wear tailored shorts in restaurants (esp not the buffet). My partner went to walk into the buffet and was refused entry as he did not have trousers on. We explained to them that he had not bought any trousers with him (apart from jeans that he travelled in) and they advised that he would have to wear these to dinner and then go back to the suite to change!! I could not believe that there were girls/women walking around in the buffet with skirts/shorts that barely covered their bottoms and he was not allowed to wear a smart pair of shorts. They told us this was to keep up dress standards and yet would have allowed him to enter the restaurant with tracksuit bottoms on!! On another night we ordered a drink at the bar and then made our way to the buffet and was again refused entry because spirits are not allowed in the restaurant - the reason being is that they don't have enough glasses around the hotel to cater for people to drink spirits in the hotel - its a 5 star hotel - ORDER SOME MORE GLASSES!! You had the choice of red or white wine, beer or soft drink - I don't need to tell you that the wine was not pleasant and therefore we drank lemonade with our dinner every night - which just isn't the same as a nice gin and tonic! We have always enjoyed the fact that you can sit outside and watch entertainment in the evening whilst you are on holiday (a perk of having the nice weather). There was no entertainment outside whatsoever - everything was in the lobby bar and I have to say that compared to other hotels we have been to it was not great! It was a real let down and we were back to the suite by 10.30pm most nights. We took a walk outside one night - big mistake - there is absolutely nothing within walking distance to this hotel, its a run down residential area! If you are going to venture out DO NOT go into New Moudania - this is also a residential area and is not very clean or tidy. We did go to Sani for an afternoon and the other hotels in the chain are amazing but are based around a marina which brings a high cost for food or drink (but it is a lovely setting and the food was great). The main swimming pool is NOT heated and is absolutely freezing - our friends children were actually shivering when trying to get in the pool and everyone was complaining about it. Its a shame as its a lovely pool and would have been nice in the 30 degree heat to be able to have a dip without turning blue ha ha ha! On the whole we had a nice holiday - but we wont be returning, its a real shame as the issues that need sorting could be sorted really easily but somehow I don't think they will as there are many repeat 'much older' guests who, when we spoken to the General Manager advised us complain when there are any changes made!

The best thing about my stay was...

Room was lovely and service was really good

Food and service excellent

Just stayed here with my husband and kids 11, 13 and 15 for 10 nights. We have stayed in many all inclusive hotels before but the food in the Oceania is definitely the best. Every day, in all of the restaurants, it was fresh, delicious and well presented and the service was great. All the staff in all areas of the hotels were friendly and attentive. You could always get sunbeds around the pool even after coming down after breakfast at about 10.30 am! The beach was clean and sea clear and a drinks service (waitresses came around) available all day. The small town of Nea Moudania is about 10/15 mins walk away - there isn't much there and it isn't the prettiest town to visit but it's OK for quick trip to get presents for the kids' friends. I would say about a third of visitors were British and then a mixture of other countries. The entertainment team seeemd to be mostly British. There is entertainment throughout the day but not too much eg music quiz round the pool, the usual aqua aerobics and a waterpolo game. There wasn't too much going on in the evenings - the odd show and musician in the lobby. There was a pool party one evening when everyone is allowed in the pool from 9p-11 pm - which the kids loved. You can also borrow DVDs from Reception to watch in your room - which was good for the kids if they'd had too much sun. So, overall, it's a great hotel. We liked the: food, staff, cleanliness, "civilised clientele", no rowdiness(!) (I'm getting fussy in my old age), beach, sea, only about 50 mins from Thessaloniki airport, relaxed atmosphere, wasn't overcrowded, nice pool. It's not really a place where you wander around outside the hotel to look for cute tavernas around every corner (although there are a few) and get the real feel of Greece, it's more like an international hotel where you stay in the hotel and make the most of their lovely facilities. We didn't use the Spa, kids club, bikes, tennis courts etc - we just wanted to chill by the pool for 10 days! We had hired a car and went out to find a lovely beach one day - Afitos - about half an hour away. That's it really - hope you find this useful. We would recommended this hotel and we would book it again although we like to try out different places every year.

The best thing about my stay was...

Food and really great staff
