Resort Info

Hua Hin

Life's A Beach
Hua Hin is Thailand's oldest beach town resort, situated on the west coast of Thailand and 200 km from Bangkok, offering the best beach getaway for the city's elite, as it is the best and closest beach to Bangkok, and fast becoming one of Thailand’s most cosmopolitan towns. With welcoming locals, a very nice centre and 5 km of pristine beaches, it is ideal and great for combining a beach holiday when visiting Bangkok without having to fly, as it is a few hours by taxi or express bus from Bangkok, with the train taking longer.
Hua Hin enjoys some of the peninsula’s driest weather and even in the rainy season (July to Oct) it is 28 degrees with cooler evenings, more afternoon cloud and only the occasional shower, lasting not more than 10 to 20 minutes. There don’t seem to be the heavy rains found further north or south of the island.
A favourite with families and older travelers, it is aimed more towards Thai domestic tourism and is relatively serene and relaxed, lacking the busy bustle of resorts like Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok, without the hassle and racy nightlife of overflowing bars, making it a great place to visit. It has a little of everything and is easy to get away from town life to nature, with its many villages, farms, fishing villages and National parks.

Best Of Both Worlds
There are lots of spas and massage shops to indulge in, or instead you can fill your time with snorkeling, National wildlife parks, horseback riding on the beach or a round of golf at the various world class golf courses. Markets, interesting shops, temples and historic sites are plentiful and with the new shopping mall offering a multiplex cinema and bowling alley, there are enough options to keep everyone entertained.
The town has 2 main streets, the main road, Damnem Kasem Boulevard, leads straight to Hua Hin beach from the train station and Southern Petchkasem Highway passes through the town, with markets, shops and restaurants on either side.
There is a plethora of interesting things to see and do and events include the Hua Hin and Cha Am Golf Festival and the world famous Kings Cup Elephant Polo Tournament, with a series of parties surrounding the event.
PlernWan Hua Hin is worth visiting and Hua Hin’s biggest attraction as Thailand’s first eco village, recapturing the classic charm of old Hua Hin, with open lawns, museum and villages based on the Hua Hin of the past. All for free!
Hua Hin fishing pier is ideal for enjoying panoramic views of Hua Hin and watching the fishing boats come in with their daily catches, whilst Khao Takiab (Chopstick Mountain) can be seen from Hua Hin beach, with its 20 metre statue of Lord Buddha and Wat Khao Lad temple at the top, but beware of the cheeky monkeys so keep your belongings safe!

A Royal Affair
Being the Summer residence for the Thailand Royal family, tourist development has not boomed and so retains Hua Hin's heritage as a Royal town; Hua Hin train station is one of the oldest in Thailand and The Royal Waiting Room used to welcome the King and his court when visiting the town. Maruekatayawan Palace stands on Hua Hin beachfront and is the oldest and most attractive Royal palaces in Thailand. Beside Hua Hin beach, Klai Kangwon Palace sits proudly as the summer palace for His Majesty and Queen Rampai Phanee, with a beautiful collection of shells in the shell museum.

Cuisine to Feast Your Eyes On
The cosmopolitan restaurant scene is great to explore, where Thai food and the freshest seafood imaginable are very good and cheap as chips. Enjoy the rustic seafood restaurants on Hua Hin fishing pier, with restaurants set on the pier, or relish the culinary charms of the hot and busy night markets; the best in Thailand, awash with colour, intriguing aromas and excitement to the senses. Thai pride for their food is obvious with stunning presentation, and recommendations include SuSaMas, Lets Sea and the SeaView or combine entertainment while you eat at Sasi Restaurant, offering a dinner theatre, with a set menu and cabaret show not to be missed.

After Dark
Hua Hin is home to the Songkran Festival and Hua Hin Jazz Festival and there are plenty of bars to frequent, most within a few blocks of the centre of town. Some can get quite loud later at night, but afternoons and early evenings are family friendly. Show off your vocal cords at the numerous karaoke bars, or shrinking violets can sit back and enjoy live rock music often played in bars. For culture vultures, some of the main hotels provide classical Thai dance and music shows, or for something a little more exotic, try not to miss out on a cabaret show. Nightclubs can also be found, with the most popular found at the Hilton Hotel, although there are others around town, these cater more for Thai clientele, with Westerners still welcome.
