Stayed for 4 nights, end if April. Check in was speedy, room was great, beds both double, 2 large wardrobes, usual draws for storage. Flat screen TV (not used much) bathroom was fine, with towels and complimentary shower gel, and toothbrush. clean and tidy, rooms serviced every day. Food was perfectly acceptable, although breakfast was a little repetitive. Service at bar was OK, not a fan of only getting a half a beer at a time, and once you hand over your card, every time you return to the bar, you must have a glass. The bar staff could do with an injection of humour, and politeness, don't think they smiled once. Plenty pubs and clubs within walking distance, beach is about a ten minute walk. Acid test is would I go back, yes, as the positives outweigh the negatives.
The best thing about my stay was...Room

Stayed for 4 nights April 2016. Room nice and spacious, however was facing hill side at back of hotel, so no veiw. No sun on balcony. Sun does not get on pool area till well after lunch and rooftop pool closed so could not make use of the bbeautiful weather we had. Food was good, plenty of variety. Very frustrating all inclusive having to hand cards in for drink and only getting card back when you take glass back. probably to save on waiters cleaning tables. also no pint glasses for beer. Hotel reception very helpful, but cleaning of roos leave a bit to be desired. (cocktail stick on floor when i arrived still there when i left).
The best thing about my stay was...Weather and food.

Stayed here mid November 15 Were impressed by speed of reception staff Very good and very friendly Were on all inclusive stay were glad we did The food was great and even the drinks served were good Quality not just local as in many AI hotels Well the Vodka could have been bought in a British store And the wife likes Cava so we were covered OK The rooms were a good size with two double beds and 5 English TV channels Safe fridge and car parking could be hired if need be And the weather was great for that time of year, There was entertainment every evening, or you could go into town if you preferred. The town of Calella was very nice and busy for that time of year. all in all a great little break

We have to beg them to get some towers in the morning , cleaning?! no!!! They will clean your room when you go! Hope so!!"tSwimming pool " was so small , just for children, staff at the reception are like you stay there for free! Not nice people! So disappointed !!! So disappointed !!! this hotel is really nice and food is fine but thin walls let it down badly. we were only there for three days but we never got our room cleaned once. we had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper which although not a big deal was unacceptable for a four star hotel. however everything else was really quite good which is why I still score it quite high. we were full board so I can't comment on the drinks.
The best thing about my stay was...rooms and staff

Stayed at this hotel from 22nd July for 4 nights, rooms nice and clean my and my husband had 2 king size beds in our room, towels changed every day, we paid a little extra for the gold all inclusive and it was well worth it, all the spirits were makes ie jäger, Bacardi the larger was heiniken in bottles as to Amstel on draft, all cocktails were included instead of just the cocktail of the day, proper glass bottles of coke or Pepsi as to divine fizzy drinks, cava and champagne cocktails and sangria, plenty to choose from, food was ok same as most all inclusive hotels, busy at meal times, only down side was the lifts were rubbish but we tended to use the single lift the goes up the outside of the hotel this was a lot quicker, roof top terrace was lovely, adults only 3 jacuzzis and views are beautiful and to top it off bar man up there was very friendly, not far to the beach, shops and bars, would stay at this hotel again.
The best thing about my stay was...Roof top terrace

What a holiday
Mrs Hughes, England
Just got back from Holiday staying in the H Top Hotel Calella Palace Hotel but is was more like staying in a Youth Hostel at one point at least 200 ,16 to 18 year olds there not what I expected from a four Star Hotel, food was brilliant but will not be going to this Hotel every again my advise to anyone make sure it is not over run by Youths as this will spoil your holiday the people who stayed at the same time as us were also displease with the situation.
The best thing about my stay was...The Food was very good

Youth Hostel or Hotel
Gerry Serpell-Morrisf, Luton UK
The Calella Palace Hotel; My wife and I have just spent three weeks at this hotel. Our package holiday promised us a four star hotel on the Costa Brava but did not reveal the actual hotel until our final documents arrived a week before departure when I was then able to see the reviews on the internet. In view of the very reasonable price of the holiday and the fact that very few hotels are open at this time of the year in this region I am not criticising my tour company but I do feel some things need to be stated about the hotel. Firstly in no way believe it is a four star! Nothing about it merits this description except for the excellent amount of available hot water which never failed. If the building had been built with more acceptable soundproofing it would be comfortable enough. The rooms are of reasonable size with balconies and have nice bathrooms with a proper bathtub. However there are no facilities for making tea or coffee and if you wish to use the safe in the wardrobe you will have to pay 28 euros per week! In order to cope with the huge numbers of guests the restaurant runs two sittings – one at 7pm and one at 8pm. The food is presented nicely and there was always plenty of it but if you stay more than one week do not expect much variety. Also at breakfast time you may get scrambled egg once a week. All of the staff, including the bar staff, we found to be extremely pleasant and helpful and admirably tolerant of some unbelievably rude and ungrateful guests. Evening entertainment is very limited largely consisting of a disco catering mostly for Spanish and youthful guests, and the same reptile show, Brazil show and Flamenco show every week. There is nothing on offer with the older British guest in mind at all, unless you want to spend the evening up to 11 pm consuming free local drinks. There is no free Wi-Fi. If you require it for your own laptop it costs 5 euros for 24 hours etc. Machines in the foyer provide access for 1 euro for fifteen minutes. The real problem with this hotel is revealed if you get noisy neighbours on either side of you, above you, or across the corridor. This is extremely likely as every few days or so huge parties of school and college students aged between twelve and eighteen arrived from all over Europe. They can arrive at any time, including the evening, when they are excited and high and the noise as they move into their rooms is appalling. Even worse can be the nights when after dinner they seem to disappear only to return again at some time after midnight when the corridor noise, laughter, conversation and banging of doors can go on until after two in the morning. Spanish and Italian groups were the worst with seemingly no supervision from teaching staff. Bringing hotel staff up to the floor at 2am did achieve results on one occasion. The students seem to have had no preparation by staff as to how they should behave in a hotel. Very little, if any empathy with older guests or anyone else attempting to sleep on the same floor, was observed. We had so much trouble that for our final two nights the hotel changed our room. I would not know what happens here as the season progresses but one can only guess what it would be like to have a young family in a nearby room, maybe with a crying baby. To sum up I can only say that this is not a hotel for anyone over 55 or indeed, of any age, if you wish to get enough sleep at night. The management need to decide whether they are running a youth hostel or a hotel. At the moment they are doing neither properly.
The best thing about my stay was...Mostly very nice staff in all departments - especially restaurant

noisy all round. no respect for others
sarah best, weston super mare
Hotel was very, very, noisy. Room was clean just enough room. A lot of students there and other Spanish holiday makers who apparently didn't like the English. If you love your sleep avoid like the plague. People fighting in the bar. Police called, ambulance. People shouting and swearing all night long. No relaxation at all. The only good point was the location of the hotel and the hotel bar was quite good. Swimming pool too overcrowded.the restaurant was pleasant. Food was always cold. Had to reheat meal in microwave. Very repetitive. Restaurant manager pleasant.
The best thing about my stay was...going to barcelona
