Great hotel - perfect location for evenings

Upon arrival in rome, at the Termini station, we were a bit concerned, as the taxi driver quoted 40 euro to get to the hotel. However, it turned out to be 12 euro and a 10 minute drive. The hotel is on a very quiet road, and is 100 metres from the number 8 tram line. This gets you into the piazza Venizia in the heart of the city in about 10 minutes. The hotel looks modern, clean and has a boutique feel. We stayed in a standard room on the 6th floor. The room was very big, with a separate bathroom and a kitchen area. A big bonus was having a balcony. The view from the room wasn't the best, as it directly faces an office building. The room was air conditioned and the beds were very comfortable. There is wifi available, which generally worked well. You can obtain a code from reception. However, there is only one code allowed per room. Breakfast is 7-1030. It is a buffet, with a selection of cheese, ham, bacon, sausages, eggs, pastries and fruit. It was very good, if a little limited. The food was tasty and of a good standard. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you enjoy eating out and mixing with the locals, then this hotel's location is a BIG plus. The hotel is two tram stops or 10 minutes walk from the Trastevere area. To find it, take the tram heading into the city centre and go two stops. Here, you will find a huge range of bars and restaurants which cater for locals as well as tourists. These restaurants are situated in a number beautiful little back streets and squares, with a great atmosphere. It's generally cheaper than the tourist traps elsewhere in the city. The best we found was 'Carlo Menta', which was very cheap and with lovely food. I would definitely recommend the hotel, and would stay here again.

The best thing about my stay was...

The location relative to the nightlife.

Good location - close to bars and restaurant

Great location and helpful staff. However, the room wasn't great considering we paid just over £100/night. We had a standard room and that didn't look anything like the rooms on the pictures on their website. Nonetheless, the staff at the reception was very helpful ands nice.

Style over substance

Stayed at this hotel following a cruise out of Rome. The location is excellent if you want to be in the Trastevere area of Rome which is lively, and atmospheric with great bars and restaurants. It is a short walk from the main area but nothing strenuous. The hotel is very modern and you almost feel to be sleeping in a box as the room is sectioned off into areas and not very light as the main bedroom area has no windows. There was a small kitchen area but no utensils/pots or pans so not really usable although there is a small fridge with a minibar in. The fixtures and fittings had seen better days with the bottom falling out some of the drawers and chips off the formica areas of the wall divisions. It was clean and the bed large and comfortable. We had to call maintenance as the mechanism in the bath for releasing the plug would not work (hence bath full of water) but this was dealt with efficiently. The staff were all helpful and friendly. The dining room is again ultra modern and a bit like being in a space pod. The breakfast choice was excellent with good quality food. All in all the hotel was good value for what we paid and I would stay there again but dont expect four star standards and the rooms really do need a refit. Ok for a couple of nights but would not want to stay there for a long period.

easter weekend stay in ripa

enjoyed my stay in this hotel which I choose because I wanted to explore this part of Rome and I was not disappointed as I enjoyed everything about this hotel from its interesting design, cleanliness, friendliness of staff and breakfast. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Review of Ripa Hotel

My boyfriend and I have just got back from a 5 day break in Rome. Having never been to the city before we found booking the hotel one of the most stressful parts of the experience. We eventually settled on the Hotel Ripa, and were very happy with our choice. The hotel is situated ten minutes walk from the centre of Rome. You can also get a tram from outside the Hotel that will get you there in just a couple of minutes. (Very handy!) The hotel is located in a quiet area of Rome, however there are plenty of local restaurants and bars which are very reasonable in price. The hotel itself is very modern and minimilistic in design. Our room was on the first floor, so sadly no balcony. However, it was absolutely spotless and very large. Plus points of the room include a large bathroom, double wardrobe with drawers - we found this was plenty of storage, a desk with two chairs and also a sofa. The room had two large windows which kept it light and airy. Negative points about the room were that the bed was actually two singles pushed together. Also, there was no quilt cover, just a quilt with a sheet either side of it which kept coming off in the night (Very weird!) The hotel breakfast was pretty poor by UK standards. Having paid quite a lot for this hotel we expected to fill ourselves up on breakfast before a busy day of sight seeing. However, the breakfast was really bad - my boyfriend nearly cracked a tooth on the bacon, and most mornings all we ate was a yoghurt each. Front desk staff were friendly, but could have been a bit more informed regarding local attractions, transport links and recommending places to eat. A taxi from the hotel to Rome Ciampino airport cost 45 Euros. This is by far the easiest way to get there, but you can get a bus from Termini for a lot cheaper. Overall however, we loved the hotel, loved the room, and were more than happy with our choice of hotel.

Ripa

Lovely hotel in good location for accessing central Rome (taxis to attractions around 8 euros). Hotel was spacious and staff quite friendly- only 2 down points, firstly our non smoking room smelt of cigarette smoke and secondly the breakfast was poor (we only went for breakfast once during a four days stay!). Nice local area and bars/restaurants cheaper than those in centre.

leausure

good location, easy access to tram and bus. friendly reception; helpful in case of questions; spacious room (in our case), friendly service...it will need a renovation within the next year, yet it is nevertheless a good hotel to stay at in Rome, away from the "touristic" sections of the city

Review of 'RIPA'

My wife and I stayed in the Ripa Hotel in Trastvere, Rome in August 2005.&nbsp;&nbsp;The hotel is quite a contrast to Rome itself, with it's interior being minimilistic and contemporary.&nbsp;&nbsp; The hotel itself is very clean and the maid service is quite efficient.&nbsp;&nbsp; The location of the hotel is a little of the beaten track but the city centre is a brisk 10 minute walk or a 2 minute tram ride away.<br />We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as we wanted to experience Rome, but what I did see of the bar tarriff made me believe eating in would be quite expensive.<br />The rooms are modern and well laid out and the only gripe I had was the lack of storage space - it can be quite annoying living out of the suitcase.<br />I would recommend the ripa for weekend breaks but not for a week like we spent there.
