great for families
Amanda Stockton, Malaga
The hotel is situated next to a lovely sandy beach with a nice prom, and plenty of free parking in nearby streets the area is very sleepy so quiet at night. The entertainment staff work hard to offer something for everyone to do and the miniclub was really friendly the staff did not speak excellent english but were understandable and desperate to learn more but more inportant was they were friendly and liked kids!!! The restaurant offered plenty of choice the food freshly cooked and salad bar second to none, Some of the food was very spanish but so tasty just dont be afraid to try. The hotel as a whole if being picky was in need of painting but very clean throughout. The family had a great time and left with one teary nine year old having said goodbye to all his new friends.
The best thing about my stay was...The experience as a whole

Loved the Spanishness and quiet of the resort
Anthony Chlopek, Ilkeston
We have stayed at this hotel twice before although it was quite some time ago but we enjoyed the quiet of the resort and decided it would to revisit it. The room was clean and spacious the bathroom needed some work, the shower screen didn't fit properly and therefore there was a puddle on the floor. The food was a bit repetative and some was brought out on many occasions which made a concerned about food poisoning. There wasn't a lot on offer but what was was tasty but could have been warmer. On the Friday a lot of families came for a petanque tournament and the food on offer increased and improved. We were surprised at this as we were told that the hotel was closing for 20 days on the Sunday for refurbishment (there was work being carried out while we were there) although this did not cause us any problems it would have been nice to have been told.
The best thing about my stay was...The peace and quiet of the resort.

good location if self catering
Mrs Brierley, Spain
We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights half board at Easter. The hotel location was ok but the gym was closed on a Saturday afternoon and on the Sunday so we could not use the facilities, also the sauna was an extra cost, and you needed a swimming hat for the use of the indoor pool, all of this was not mentioned. The salad at dinner was great but after that it is downhill, the cooked breakfast was the worst we have ever had in Roquetas the egg was like rubber, the sausages were frankfurters, and the bacon was fatty and really strong tasting. We have stayed in other four star hotels in Roquetas De Mar that are alot better. We will not stay at this hotel in the future, the drinks were also very expensive. Also totally Spanish so not for entertainment for the English. It is near to a habour with bars and a square with music bars and restuarants, which would probably be ok if you are self catering but maybe expensive.
The best thing about my stay was...The room was comfortable location was ok

GOOD 3 STARS HOTEL
STAYED FOR 10 DAYS.EVEN THE WEATHER WAS GREAT +29, NOBODYECLEANED THE POOLS UNTIL 18.05.,CHILDRENS POOL WAS EMPTY.FOOD THE SAME EVERYDAY.NO YOGURTS,FRESH FRUITS.NOBODY SPEEKS IN ENGLISH IN HOTEL AND AROUND IN THIS AREA AND SPANISH GET VERY ANNOED WHEN YOU DONT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND IN SPANISH. WE ASKED BAR STAFF TO PUT EUROVISION FOR US,HE SAID IT FOOTBALL ON NOW(IT WAS ONLY HIM IN A BAR) AND SEND US WITH 3 YEARS OLD CHILD IN A SMOKING ROOM TO WATCH EUROVISION. RECEPSION SPEAK A LITTLE ENGLISH,BUT WOULDNT DO ANY EXTRA FOR YOU,MANAGER IN RECEPTION FAR ALL 10 DAYS SMILED ONLY ONCE,NEVER SAID HELLO WHEN SOMEBODY PASSING.IT'S NOT A BAD HOTEL,NO -I WOULD SAY IT'S QUIET TIPICAL FOR SPANISH HOTELS,IT'S GREAT LOCATION,I JUST DIDNT FEEL LIKE IN 4 STARS HOTEL

2 nights febuary 2009
Katherine Hird, Spain
Good hotel in a great location by the beach in Aguadulce. The room was clean but on the small side when a third bed is put in, great view over the pools & sea. Indoor heated swimming pool is great at this time of year as outdoor pools were closed. Good selection of food for both breakfast & dinner, only problem was not all food was hot. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay & will go again.

Very nice hotel on the seafront. The food was very good, and an extensive breakfast buffet selection. We only had an overnight stop, but were more than happy with the hotel and staff. We would use it again if we are passing through, without hesitation.

HOTEL PORTOMAGNO MAY 2007
BARBARA EARL, WEST MALLING, KENT
22nd May 2007 This was our sixth stay at the hotel since 1987 and the standard has been consistently good. The reception staff were efficient and some spoke English although the staff generally just understand the basics. A simple knowledge of Spanish is essential. We cannot fault the standard and cleanliness of the rooms. The fridge in the room is free and a real bonus. The food is very Spanish but varied and acceptable. Excellent choice for breakfast but someone needs to show the chefs how to cook bacon and the scrambled egg could well double up as a saddle for a matador! The cava also goes down well. When booking always consider a sea view room as the sun shines onto the balcony until well past 6pm and the views are terrific. Lovely walks along the promenade to the harbour and bars - feeding bread to the fish in the harbour is great entertainment. Basically, everyone is friendly both in the hotel and locally. That's why we keep returning - just returned from our third trip in 12 months.
