Stayed at this hotel for 1 night before joining a cruise. The lady on reception can speak 5 languages and was so helpful and knowledgeable. We asked for information on the best ways to get around Venice and how to get to the cruise terminal. She put us I a studio which was not part of the hotel as my mum and Aunty cannot manage the stairs. Good continental breakfast. Would recommend this hotel just by the Guglie water bus stop so easy to get to
The best thing about my stay was ...
Great local knowledeg from the lady on reception and a ground floor room

Just returned from 3 nights at the Hesperia. Would recommend as very friendly family-run hotel. Everything we wanted: welcoming, clean, comfortable and with a good breakfast! Many thanks!

Quaint little hotel with the advantage of being away from the bustle of the main thoroughfares. Not especially impressive from the outside and the inside is, perhaps, in need of a little TLC, we nevertheless thoroughly enjoyed our 4 nights here. Staff were multilingual , very helpful and interested in what we we were doing and where we were going. Continental breakfast was more than adequate with the best coffee of the entire holiday. The room on the front was a good size and spotlessly clean. Whilst all rooms appear to have a "private" bathroom, beware that it may not be in or adjacent to your room. Ours was three doors down the hall and very well appointed but this could lead to some embarrassing moments between bedroom and bathroom wearing only a smile and a towel! Venice is not a city, it is an experience and whilst we did the normal sights, the real enjoyment came from getting lost in the backstreets of Venice whilst looking for the little churches, the Ghetto and restaurants. Whilst eating in the popular areas was expensive, the Menu Touristica at the restaurants provided a cheaper alternative. The real value meals were to be enjoyed in the non-tourist areas. We chose the hotel by chance, based on price and previous reviews. We were pleased with the quiet location which was not a problem as Venice covers a very small area and was easily accessable in full on foot. There is a vaporetto stop opposite the hotel which also makes moving around the city very easy for those unable or unwilling to walk. We no longer evaluate hotels by reference to their "star "status (Hesperia = 2*) but instead look at value for money. In our opinion, the Hesperia provided us with excellent value for money and a very pleasant base for our stay in Venice.

Little hotel in a pleasant and a bit less touristy area of Venice. A few minutes away from the train station. A vaporetto stop on the other side of the Cannaregio canal at the entrance of the Ghetto. Warm welcome and very friendly multilingual staff. Very clean room and adequate breakfast. I would really recommend this hotel for people who prefer to be somewhat away from the crowds of the San marco sestier.

Review of 'HESPERIA'
KEN NEEDHAM, Cockermouth Cumbria
Friendly, clean, extremely good value for money considering it is on the Venice island in the Canneregio region. From the outside looks quite unimpressive but the interior is fine and the people are not stand offish at all.The room was adequately sized, well appointed bathroom with shower, bidet, hair dryer complimentary soap etc.Very quiet at night in our side room but sounds of boats and barges on the canal could be heard on the front in the mornings. The single beds we had were a litle narrow but very comfortable. Breakfasts are the usual very good coffee accompanied with croissants, cereals, bread rolls, processed cheese, yoghurts. If wanted you could pay extra for ham and orange juice at a reasonable charge. We found the position at the top left hand corner of the island no inconvenience at all as it was close to some very good trattoria, osterias and more expensive ristorantes for eating at night.Far better value than anywhere nearer to S.Marco Square. We heartily reccommend Casin dei Nobili in the Dorsoduro for wonderful food at moderate prices. Find it if you can but get in early, the locals love it!We stayed for three nights and enjoyed every second of our visit. March is an extremely good month to be a tourist as it is not too crowded and uncomfortable being jostled by thousands of other tourists as apparently it is in later months. We were blessed with unbroken sunshine for the whole of our stay but the magnificence of Venice would have shone through,I am certain, whatever the weather.Make a'' must do'' thing to do, the secret itinerary tour of the Doge's Palace.Absolutely fascinating.I could go on for many thousands of words about the galleries, museums, the wonderful architecture, the maze of streets etc. Just go and get lost in the history of the place and stay at the Hesperia which will in no way distact from the magical experience.

Pleasant find in Venice

The Hesperia is a nice hotel located near the train station. It is very convenient for travellers because of its location. The staff were pleasant and the price was reasonable. The breakfast was very good.
The airconditioning didn't work in the room--but thankfully we didn't need it. However, it forced us to open the windows which made the room very noisy in the morning--(and we did get a few mosquito bites). There is a "Tabacchi" store below the hotel which opens up early and is very noisy to awake to!
If the windows are closed these things probably would not be a problem. Overall--the place was fine.
