Brussels

Brussels

Belgium’s capital city, Brussels is a sophisticated city with a lively atmosphere. It hits the headlines more often for its modern role as capital of the European Community, but its historical centre will appeal to the short break visitor. The Flemish quarter contains the most well known sites including the stunning Grand Place and the surrounding cobbled streets where you will find Belgium’s famous mascot, the Mannekin Pis. During the day you can stop at one of the many pavement cafes to sample the famous beers or head to Avenue Louise for excellent shopping. In the summer months, Sunday mornings can be spent browsing around the flower market in the Grand Place or the antiques at the Place du Grand Sablon. Brussels has plenty to do at night – try the many theatres, cinemas, concerts, jazz clubs and discos.

2/10 Okay

11 October 2015

service slow and room is cold

The reception people is not professional at all, very long waiting time. The room floor is not clean and also the room is cold as well. The quilt is a thin blanket, air conditioner is a working antique, it is very noisy when it start working , sounds like a vacuum cleaner or hair dryer, and it is not warm at all. The location is ok as it close to MIDI station. However no one want to wake up in the middle of the night because of the cold.

The best thing about my stay was...

Close to Midi station

Pay for what you get

Not the best location but also not the worst, I suggest taking a taxi to the city centre when dark as the location of the hotel can get a little scary when dark, staff at the hotel was no problem and rather helpful, rooms are very basic but yet the price is very cheap, strange aroma around the hotel, location is fairly good and the bathrooms are nice and clean.

Nice Rooms - fantastic food

We had a nice (simple) room. The hotel is very hard to find, we arrived late at night due to flight delays and found the instructions hard to follow - lucky for us a couple walking along were staying there. The staff when we arrived were fantastic, despite the late hour and the restaurant closing we were able to go and have a meal - would totally recommend the food in their restaurant!

On the downside, the area is not the best and although only a ten to fifteen minute walk to the centre it is through a bad area and not very safe. Also the staff on during the night were great.

Review of 'USTEL'

Hotel was very clean, bedrooms cleaned daily, very quiet. Close to eurostar terminal and close to the centre of Brussels. Good breakfast every morning.

Review of 'USTEL'

A very early flight from Dublin meant an early arrival at Ustel. We were greeted by a poker-faced local who grunted and pointed at the sign which told us we must wait until 3pm before we could check-in. After wandering the streets and sampling the local beers we returned and received a much warmer reception from another member of staff. We were pleasantly surprised upon entering our room; it was clean, modern and quiet. The Breakfast buffet was traditional, plentiful and very tasty; however we did not venture into the restaurant for an evening meal. Ustel is well located and it did not take much more than a ten minute walk to get right into the heart of Brussels. Ustel did not break the bank and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced break.
