beautiful place shame about the hotel!!

Myself and my husband went on our 30th anniversary to croatia beautiful place wonderful views just pity about the weather. The hotel is very dated but is very clean, I found the reception staff extremely rude, the bar staff very friendly as were the house keepers. The orange tshirt animation team were the best kept us entertained every day well done leo and karla and the rest of them. Now as for the french guests down right rude as were the entertainment didnt cater for any other countries but there own and the guests got red bands where we had orange and they were allowed more drinks than us. Rooms very very small ask for an up grade but they wanted 300 euro that wasnt happening, would recommend the country but stay away from hotel full of french. The best part of our holiday was the wonderful people we met had such a brilliant time with them yous were the best.

The best thing about my stay was...

The sunset the best ever!

Excellent value for money

Our holiday was booked through Archers and was excellent value for money. The only comment regarding our lovely room with a balcony and sea view is that it needed the carpet cleaned or replaced. The buffet style dinner was not to our liking, but probably the only way to feed such a large number of different nationalities and tastes at the cost. The lunch and dinner selections were much the same each day, and you needed to be there early for 'hot' dishes. The staff were sometimes slow to refill dishes. The hotel had a dress code for dinner (notice on board outside restaurant and in rooms) but it was not enforced, some of our fellow diners looked like they should still be on the beach, shorts and t-shirts! The location of the hotel could not be beaten, right on the beach and with a swimming pool and paddling pool, as well as the sea!

The best thing about my stay was...

The scenery!

Average but good

This hotel is 3 star and very very average. But for a holiday done on a budget this hotel was perfect. Clean, tidy, friendly staff, nice food and in a FANTASTIC location with only a 15 minute walk from the restaurants and shops in Cavtat. The breakfast and lunch were lovely but the evening meal let itself down, so we found ourselves eating out every evening at restaurants in Cavtat. The only problem with this hotel was that the first room we were put in was tiny and the view from the balcony was non-existent with just a mountain infront of us. However, we paid extra for a room with a sea view and it was much nicer. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Great hotel - would definately return

Hotel was very nice in an excellent pebbly beach front location a pleasant 10 minute flat stroll to the pretty village of Cavtat. You could see Dubrovnik in the distance with easy access there by boat (leaving next door but one to the hotel approx 60-80 kunas (£7-8) return or by bus from the village (40 kunas) return. Best thing about the hotel was the animation team who were very fun, enthusiastic, encouraging but not intrusive - very polite and very friendly and welcoming to all nationalities. They worked long hours and always with a smile. The activities programme had lots going on. Food was good, lots of choice at breakfast, fresh pancakes and eggs along with continental options and cooked options, cereals, fruit, salads, breads and pastries. Lunch and Dinner were also good, but your typical buffet of salads, pastas, meats and a freshly cooked meat and fish option. Lunchtime Pizzeria was also another nice option. Really pleasant terraces overlooking the sea to enjoy your meals. Self service bar throughout the day worked well and a staffed bar at night. Worst thing about the hotel was our room which we changed after the first night. I would strongly recommend paying for an upgrade to a sea view room (prior to travel as expensive once there), we may have been unlucky but our room was next to the stairwell lobby/lift area and the noise was too much. Thankfully they were able to move us to a garden/sea view room which was so much more pleasant. I would definately stay here again, it was a general 'all rounder' for us. Very Good.

The best thing about my stay was...

The animation team, activities and lovely beach front location in a lovely picturesque village.

Beautiful Cavtat

Just returned from 10 days at Iberostar Epidaurus. Can only say good things about this hotel as the area could not be more perfect. The view that greets you from the terrace is simply stunning. We booked a family room which was a good size and overlooked the gardens and sea view. Okay the bedrooms are a bit dated (but hear they are in process of being renovated) and the long corridors are reminiscent of the film 'The Shining' but these things were easy to overlook. Food was varied and plentiful and all the staff work very hard from restaurant staff thro' to entertainment team and housekeepers. Its a 15-20 min. walk into the village of Cavtat which we did most evenings. Not really a proper path so you have to be careful. We were there in Oct so quite a bit quieter but I can imagine in summer the bars are full. Dubrovnik Old Town is easy to reach by boat or local bus (which was a scary ride round side of mountain) but worth it for scenery. We also did the 3-Island Boat Trip the islands are worth seeing, have to say it did turn into a bit of a booze cruise on return journey as there were 14 of us from Epidaurus, but we had a lot of fun! Met some great people and definitely hope to return to the Epidaurus and Cavtat in the future.

Great location, great value, room with the view was worth the extra

Just back from five nights in Cavtat with my wife for her 40th. We've been to Croatia 3 times before, Dubrovnik twice in 2004 and 2005 and Markaska in 2006. The Epidaurus is a great value hotel with a great location for a relaxing holiday. Looks over it's own private beach and the all inclusive option is highly recommended as Croatia has gotten more expensive in recent years and especially Dubrovnik itself. Cavtat is a small village 10 minutes from the airport, it's quiet and is popular with the yacht set judging by the the several hundred million euro/dollars/pounds of yachts parked at the town marina. The hotel is great value, I paid 400 kuna or 60 euros to upgrade the room for a balcony and sea view which was important for the occasion that was in it, romantic sunsets etc. The food is good and varied and the local beers, spirits and wines included in the all inclusive option are fine. There's a very enthusiastic entertainment team who can be a overly active at times but that came into it's own when it rained on our last day and they did a fantastic job of keeping a couple of hundred bored tourists (mainly French with a smattering of German, British and Irish) entertained. There were also a few good acts brought into the hotel including a fantastic acoustic duo who did classic rock anthems and brought the house down at the poolside bar. It's a 15 minute walk from the town of Cavtat along a coastal path, you can also get the number 10 bus into Dubrovnik from the town or one of the many ferries that do the trip in about an hour. If you over stay your welcome in Dubrovnik and miss the last bus be prepared for the 40 euro cab ride home, taxis are expensive in the Dubrovnik area now but in plentiful supply. The location is beautiful, the hotel is of an acceptable standard, tge food and drink are good, the entertainment is varied though I would be interested to see it in action with children as it was September and there were only a few small children around bit from reading other reviews they do a good job. Overall excellent value but do be sure what kind of room you are getting, saw some of the non balcony, mom sea view rooms and they looked acceptable but I would imagine that if you were not expecting that type of room that it might but a flight downer on things but there are adequate vantage points around the hotel yo catch those sunsets regardless. There is also a private sea sports area in the complex which in sorry o didn't make more use of. Also before I forget my wife got complimentary champagne with her dinner on the night of her birthday along with a small vase of flowers which was a nice touch, WiFi is patchy though and only available in reception for 30 minute stints. We would definitely go back to this hotel.

The best thing about my stay was...

All inclusive option, location/vista, private beach and sea swimming area

Fantastic location and views

Only 5 minutes transfer from airport so grab a taxi as they are a fixed price. We had a side sea view room and the view was very limited due to the trees but then the trees were very welcoming during the lunch time for shade as they had a outside terrace for eating which was very pleasant both in the day and in the evening, but you could still see the sea. We also booked air conditioning but it was not very effective so still very warm. Great service from all the staff. There was a a varied choice of buffet food so you could always get something that you would like. All inclusive was great too as you helped yourself to the Lager, wine and soft drinks. Any shorts you would need to request from the bar but they were very generous with the measures. Entertainment was ok.

The best thing about my stay was...

Great location and staff, eager to please.
