The Costa Blanca’s boldest resort
Benidorm is bold, brash and buzzing – just the way its thousands of returning visitors like it. Situated on the sun-soaked Costa Blanca, Benidorm is a high-rise, high-attitude haven for holidaymakers who like their holiday lively and loud. This larger than life destination is well-known for its beaches, bars and dedicated following of international tourists.
From bars to beaches
Benidorm comes alive after dark with comedians, cabaret, drag queens and clowns. Night-owls will find the majority of bars and pubs located in The Square, which is perfectly placed in Benidorm’s town centre. Keep the party going until sunrise on the ‘Top Road’, where you’ll find a cluster of super clubs and big name DJs. Daytime bliss can be found on Benidorm’s two stunning sweeps of beach, Levante to the east and Poniente to the west. Both have clean, soft sand and clear, safe water.
Places to eat, shop and see
Benidorm’s choice of restaurants and cafes is impressive; food ranges from Sunday roasts to gourmet gastronomy, from traditional Spanish tapas to McDonalds. Wander into the Old Town for more traditional eateries and a real taste of Benidorm’s authentic Spanish culture. With cobbled streets and a maze of shops and restaurants, the Old Town is a charming break from the electric atmosphere of modern Benidorm. A variety of waterparks, theme parks and nature reserves lie just outside the town centre. Venture further afield to Alicante (50 minutes by car) for streets lined with shops and a pretty port overlooked by a castle.
Things to do in Benidorm
On the beach in Benidorm
With over 1.2 miles of golden sand, Levante Beach is the perfect place for a day spent by the sea. Pick a spot, settle in the sunshine and relax, safe in the knowledge that there are key facilities such as toilets, showers and shops close by.
Sunbeds can be pricey so pack some beach towels to lie on.
Eat and drink in Benidorm
Benidorm Old Town is a world away from the bright lights and noise of its modern counterpart. The charming, traditional restaurants found here serve delicious tapas and fresh fish. Pull up a chair on the cobbled streets and enjoy an authentic Spanish dish whilst watching the world pass by.
Tapas are small, tasty dishes usually ordered in 4s or 5s; they’re the perfect size for sharing and for trying different things.
After drinks in The Square, hail a taxi and head to the epic Top Road. If you’re in the mood for dancing then this row of super-clubs will see you through to dawn – most of them are open until 8am. Penelopes and KU Benidorm have been going for years and come highly recommended.
Buying drinks in The Square will be cheaper than in the Top Road clubs themselves.
Shopping in Benidorm
Benidorm’s indoor market is situated on Calle Girona; it’s open every day other than Sunday and is especially popular with tourists, selling a variety of British goods. Exchange holiday money at Sheila’s or find your ideal holiday read at Browse Awhile Bookstore.
Cast members from ITV’s Benidorm are said to shop here whilst filming nearby.
Things to see in Benidorm
Aqualandia was Spain’s first water park and has earned a well-deserved reputation as being fun, safe and clean. There are water rides to suit every age and swimming level, from ‘infantile’ to ‘radical’ attractions. Exciting, relaxing and a great way to cool down on a hot day in the Spanish sun.
Keep the cost of the trip down by bringing your own food and drink, which can be enjoyed in pretty picnic areas.
Amigos Restaurant and Roof Terrace
Amigos Restaurant and Roof Terrace has rave reviews online, with customers praising the friendly staff, excellent food and charming atmosphere. Try the delicious Sangria, said to be the best in Benidorm, or the steak, which is cooked to perfection every time.
On Plaza Constiucion 4, is reasonably priced with fresh cocktails and a fun atmosphere. Take a seat in the sun on the terrace, Mojito in hand, and watch life in Benidorm Old Town pass you by. The owners will make you feel so welcome one visit won’t be enough.
Romeria del Corpus
The Romeria del Corpus is a traditional Andalusian fiesta that happens every year in June. It’s a vibrant, 3 day long festival which sees participants dress in colourful costume and perform dances. There’s usually a fairground and horse processions too.
Aqualandia in Benidorm
A must-visit destination for the family. This thrilling water park is home to a great range of slides and pools. There are some nice grassy areas to relax and eat. Try to buy tickets in advance.

We had room 602 which had a huge balcony, perfect location, yet quiet at night. Plenty of choice at food buffet, if you have a good look first at what is on offer, very tasty and fresh. Staff at reception very helpful. I would return.

Hotel Cimbel March 2016
First impressions - reception, bar and pool area clean and tidy. On exiting the lift the corridors looked very tired - the carpet was worn and needed replacing. On entering our room it was a great size clean and tidy with a good sized bathroom - the laminate floor was loose by the bathroom floor but other than that the room was great with daily maid service providing clean towels daily. The view was excellent as we overlooked the beach so the only noise at night was the sea! The breakfast buffet offered a good selection of hot and cold food including a good selection of fresh fruits, cooked meats, cheeses and pastries. The hot breakfast was a selection of eggs (boiled, fried or scrambled) bacon, a selection of sausages grilled tomatoes and beans. something for everyone.
The best thing about my stay was...A great central location close to the beach and a short walk to the old town or if you prefer the British bars in the new town

The location and hotel look great but the rooms are in need of complete renovation, the beds are very hard, water was coming through the bathroom ceiling for days and reception said they couldn't do anything..none of the reception staff ever seemed happy, most of the food seemed to be cooked in water, bacon, sausage etc. The cleaners must have had their cupboard right next to the room, very noisy! I've lived in the area for some time and decided to book a more Spanish style hotel, Ive stayed in various Benidorm hotels over the years but this is one of the worst!
The best thing about my stay was...The location

Christmas at the Cimbel
Chrissysue, Leeds, West Yorkshire
This was our 3rd Christmas at the Cimbel, although it is 4 years since we last stayed. The Christmas atmosphere was almost non existent with only one Christmas tree near the entrance and a small nativity scene near the entrance to the dining room, other than that you wouldn't have known it was Christmas. As in the past there are far more Spanish and other Europeans than British staying at the hotel which is one of the reasons we like to stay at this hotel. The hotel is still very clean and the lady who cleaned our room was very obliging as was the member of staff on reception who sorted out our safe with new batteries when we couldn't get it to work when we arrived. Don't visit this hotel if you want a lively holiday but do stay if you like a more relaxed atmosphere.
The best thing about my stay was...The location and the sound and sight of the sea

This was our third trip to Beni in as many years. Having walked along the front last year we decided that the location of The Cimbel was ideal for what we required. It was right on the beach and midway between The Old and New Towns meaning that during our weeks stay we had the best of both (Beni) worlds. Half the time we spent in the Old Town soaking up the ambience and mixing with mostly Spanish holiday makers. The other half of the week we spent in The New Town taking the advantage of the free entertainment where nearly everyone there was British. The Hotel was extremely clean and the service excellent would definitely return.

The best thing about my stay was...Ubicación frente al mar y alrededores.

We have been using this hotel for numerous years now, staying here at least three times per year. The staff from reception, bar, waiters and maids are always curteous and very helpfull. We see that they have introduced a policy now that you can not reserve tables and sun beds, which we feel is very good and best for everyone. Couple of downsides, firstley there appears no English TV Channels and secondley and we feel very important, Food. The breakfast supposedley hot food items seems to be constantley cold, also the evening meals are luke warm because obviousley they have been plated up and left to stand.
The best thing about my stay was...Definately the rooms with balconys faceing the beach. Location, Location, Location.

Great Hotel, Fantastic Location
Phil W, Lytham St Annes
This is a great hotel I have stayed here before about 4 years ago and pleased to say it is still as good as then. I was a little worried as I read a couple of bad reviews about food etc, I found the food to be very good although a couple of times it could have done with being a little warmer. The dinner was good 4 courses reasonable choice and all presented nicely by friendly waiters and the head waiter was very helpful and made us feel welcome. The rooms are comfortable and spacious and are cleaned and made up every day as you would expect from a 4 star, all the staff including the cleaners were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent right on the beach and a short walk to the old town or to the lively nightlife around what they call english square. Wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again and that goes for the other five friends who were with me. But I will say this if you want english food at dinner and bacon and eggs for brekkie every morning then perhaps it's not for you.
The best thing about my stay was...Location, Location, Location and Sun every day.
