Comfortable and clean. Adequate breakfast. Staff were helpfull and professional. If one is prepared to spend a little time getting to the sights by the nearby public transport facilities this hotel provides good value. Dont expect anything other than adequate facilities. Local restaurants are fine for typical Italian cuisine but are not haute cuisine.

we"re comming back !!!!
Linda Gallagher, Derry N.Ireland
We stayed at the Caravel for 5 nights while discovering Rome! at first it seemed far out from the city but it was easliy accessable by bus metro and tram!!. There is a corner shop that stayed open till 10 and the"best ice-cream shop and restraunt just around the corner!! stay away from the local chinness restraunt as the service and food are not to be recomended !! The Caravel maids clean the rooms and changed the beds and towels every day and they were very pleasent !! they also leave free bottled water!! The Caravel staff were polite and efficent there is also air conditioning and afridge and a free safe deposit box in your room!!! There is free drinking water from all the water fountains in Rome so just bring your empty bottle!! the sunday market is not to be missed gr8 for bargains!! and the rest of Rome is breath taken we will be back soon!!! xx

I stayed at the Hotel for one week. While the breakfast was good i couldnt believe how rude the staff were. Spent most of their time on the phone and were very put out if asked about anything. The rooms are very noisy due to the ten lanes of traffic running in front of the hotel. On the day before i came home i asked if i could use the computer to check in on-line but when i tried print the boarding cards i was told that the computer was not connected to a printer. I asked one of the staff if i could do anything about it and was told that "I Could Do What I Liked". I couldnt believe i was spoken to in such a way. I ended up having to phone the airline i used to sort it out. I would not recommend the hotel to anyone and will not use it again.

Excellent value for money. Room was clean & beds made/room tidied/clean towels every day. Price also included air-con, safe, fridge, en-suite shower room & balcony. Breakfast room was smart & food good. Would recommend this hotel to anyone & would return again. Very easy to find & to get to all the sights is also very easy. From Ciampioni Airport, get Terravision shuttle bus o/s depatures building (don't pre-book, cost is 4 euros each way on bus) into Termini Station (city centre). Take Bus 714 (1 euro each) to Hotel which is about 15mins away & right on main road (keep an eye out on right hand side of bus to see hotel & then stop bus). Comparison to taxi which is 35 euros to hotel from airport. From hotel, take bus 715 to Colloseum & 30xpress to the Vatican. Eating out is great in the city. Don't eat or drink in the restaurants overlooking the sights (can be expensive). Walk 5mins around corner to eat in cafe or trattoria off the main thoroughfares. Beer & pizza/pasta for 8 euros each whilst sitting under terrace outside & watch the world go buy. Wish I was back there now writing this.

I think it would be great if they can tell us where to take the bus and when to get off at their hotel description otherwise you may have troublesome experience

Comfortable and Clean
Very clean and presentable, staff are very friendly and respectful (esp Sergio) and most of them can speak good English; 10-15 mins ride to the centre; bus station nearby. Minor glitch though, you still have to pay for internet (£1.50 for 30 mins) and internet is sometimes down. But overall hotel is excellent, I will definitely come back.

Just returned home after attending the Italy V Scotland rugby international. The Hotel Caravel was an excellent place to stay. Staff very helpfull, room clean and comfortable, even the mini bar prices were cheap. Very easy to get to main attractions, bus 714 or metro 15 mins away. I will definitely use this hotel again.

I have just came back from a trip to Rome and stayed in this hotel with my partner. We stayed for a week and found the hotel to be very clean and although some of the staff can be offhand one particular member was extremly helpful and friendly. The reception staff can speak very good english but some of the bar/breakfast staffs english is limited but this was not a problem. The staff seem to react better to you if you at least try and communicate with them in Italian, which we did, and even had a joke about it with the staff by the end of the week. Breakfast is very good quality with loads of things to choose from. This is normally served between 7am-10am. We had, from what I could tell from other rooms, a semi-refurbished room, which consisted of a modern bathroom but there was no door out to the balcony, which would have been better so we could enjoy it as the only way out was to climb through the window! The room is cleaned daily with linen changed twice a week, I think, we made out bed everyday anyway. Although you do get fresh towels every day. The hotel is a good 20min walk from the main attractions but this is not a problem as if you take a left when you step out the door then another left at the traffic lights and walk straight down the road you come to a metro station which costs 1 euro for a one way ticket and 4euros for a daily ticket which also does on the bus services. This proved to be the best way to see the city and meant that we didn't have to eat out in the city centre all the time which can be expensive and sometimes get the impression that some of the restaurants make up the prices as they go along when they realise you are a tourist. To overcome this problems I would recommend gettin the Lonely Planets guide to Rome book before setting of on your journey which offers loads of tips on everything you would ever need to know about Rome including which restaurants are best to eat in. This proved invaluable to us and all the restaurants we tried were fantastic. Overall we found the hotel to be of very good quality for money and intend to come back to stay the next time we visit Rome.

A very pleasant hotel, where most of the renovations are now complete. Rooms are a little basic but good value for the money. All rooms have a balcony, and we were at the front of the hotel, top floor which had fantastic views. The new double glazing meant that traffic could not be heard. Breakfast was adequate, cereals fruits, bread, ham chesse etc. No hot food. If you go to Ciampino, get the shuttle bus to the centre, (6 euros each) and then get the 175 or 160 from the main termini (1 euro each). The bus stops outside the hotel. Do not pay 50 euros for a cab, it should only be 30 from the airport. Overall a very pleasant stay, nice hotel, good staff and would return.
