Be amazing with a few teaks
Very good hotel with really pleasant and helpful staff. Food was very good with plenty of choice, shame that on the odd occasion some food was stone cold which is an area for improvement. Fresh fried eggs would be nice, considering that this is a 4 star hotel. Drinks were free flowing and very good. Small selection of cocktails, Amstel beer and prompt service. There was a pool bar during the day which also has snacks. In the evening there is a nice bar in the lobby, a bar in the entertainment room and self service beer, wine and soft drinks in the restaurant. The waterpark was a nice additional feature and would keep kids occupied. The swimming pool however was FREEZING cold and absolutely not acceptable. It might be cheaper not to heat the pool in winter but why have a pool if it is too cold to use, it was empty except for the odd daredevil diver who was straight out again! Loved our stay tho, apartments are excellent, massive super king size beds and are kept very clean as are the rest of the grounds.

The very nice main building which is being refurbed at the minute gives something of a false impression of the hotel really. Four stars is somewhat flattering for the facilities here. The food is very average and repeated day and night. There is one beer available to all inclusive customers; Amstel. The plastic cups which are provided are thimble sized and have those really annoying lips which cause one to dribble continuously! The beer is horrible! There are other choices available but at a price; that being 4 euros for a 33ml botle of Heineken. Also served in a plastic cup which doesn't hold the full 33ml so you have to sup the rest of the bottle dry as one cannot take the bottle away. The Heineken on tap in the top bar was rancid!! In fairness the bar maid did did forewarn me and pour a little for me to try. Luckily, I just smelled it rather than taste it or I may still have gut rot!! It smelled of farmhouse scrumpy which has been left in a plastic container in the sun for a week or so!!!(Sorry; I'm from Somerset so this is my point of reference!). If she knew that the beer had been off for months, why would noone change it??!! The cocktails on offer come from cartons! Is that worthy of 4 stars? So that's the entire included drinks menu covered. We bought beers from the supermarket and drank those from our own glasses which we also bought. A hollow victory as of course we'd paid through the arse for the all inclusive option but better that than a week of abstenance! The gym: poor and ill-maintained. Just a single pair of matching dumbells. No air con. When it's 38 degrees outside!! A guy sits there all day long looking bored and presumably getting paid so why not squirt the pulleys etc with a bit of lubricant and wipe down the benches etc. There was sweat all over them from previous users yet I never saw another peron in there so I assume it was days old! Again - 4 stars?! The pool area is about half the size it needs to be to provide for the number of guests that the hotel holds. The existing pools are fine for kids and are full of every kind of inflatable known to man and games of football/polo/volley ball going on at all times which is fine but that leaves nowhere at all for adults to swim or bathe in peace. Likewise the bar area is still full of kids at 11pm when, inexplicably, they close. I thought the Europeans knew how to party and kept long hours? Not here. I guess that if you have a family, like shit beer and drinks, think fish fingers is haute cuisine and like kids running around the restaurant and bars at all hours, then give it a go. The apartments are fine and spacious but don't go for rooms 317 to 328 or 247 to 250 inclusive as they are just metres away from the sewage treatment plant on site which adds a somewhat interesting aroma to ones romantic evenings on the terrace! I will spend my £1000 (excluding flights) far more carefully next time round. I have learned that a star rating isn't worth a dime and that Pontins has been franchised and is alive and kicking in The Canaries!!
The best thing about my stay was...Having a hire car to go in search of peace and relaxation.

Ants everywhere in our apartment
Steph , England
Great pools and slides would be better if atleast one of the pools was heated as I went in June and the weather wasn't very nice which ment the pools were too cold for my 1year 8month old and my 6 month old. Lovely food especially Chinese night!! The young dark haired waitress don't know her name she was always happy and helpful. There is only one supermarket so if you wish to go shopping it's a 30min walk, €4 taxi or free bus at certain times if you manage to fit on as it was always busy for us. The worst thing about our holiday was our room. Beautiful to look at all modern however it was full of ants. I complained twice was told that this is common and was only given insect killer spray. So I used this literally sprayed everywhere possible and it did kill them however they kept returning. On the 5th day of our holiday around 9:30pm we noticed that they had managed to get into my babies formula milk container!! The lid was shut and in a bag up on a shelf but still got in. I was furious went down to reception to complain but the supermarket onside was closed at 9:30pm the nearest pharmacy closed at 10pm so I would only get there on time if I took a taxi. A member of staff said that they could give me milk out of the kitchen not knowing babies need formula milk. After raising my voice for everyone to hear the assistant manager then offered to give me a lift but I still had to pay €18.75 for a new tub which I was not happy about.

NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED
Judith, Dublin, Dublin, Ireland
If you like screaming, unruly children and large, loud tattoed men and women, then this is the place for you. Meals in the restaurant were like feeding time in the zoo. Ate out most nights. We WON'T be back!

Been to this hotel 3 times now, love it, this time we had the extra privilege of the water park which is suited to all ages. 3 restaurants with wide selection of food on offer. Some though the bars could do with more than one person serving. Beach is about 20-30min walk or 5mins in a taxi for €3 or even a regular free bus that stops outside hotel.

Nice stay but the weather didn't help~ still only 1 barman
we stayed for second time in May 2014. unfortunately the weather was cloudy all week and very windy so pool activities were limited. The entertainment team tried really hard during the day but it was a little repetitive and needed a bit more thought. The food was nice, always helped by the excellent Chinese restaurant, but could have done with a little more themed content and variety of local dishes. The queues for the bar were silly, only one barman, very small plastic cups and no self serve beer which is fast for all inclusive. entertainment room could do with an overhaul but they put on a few really good shows.
The best thing about my stay was...The food was very good, apartments nice and comfortable

Good hotel, quite isolated evening entertainment disappointing
Arrived to be given a "special offer" which was a stay in a sister hotel with free safe anf wifi?! After a few minutes discussion, turned out they had no room for us, but instead of dealing with us as adults the tall receptionist thought she could fob us off. As you might expect we were not happy about this at all. We went to the other hotel basically because we had no choice but only stayed there 1 night. We loved the rooms at Paradise Island, the hotel is spotless and the entertainment team are relentless in making fun for everyone all day and night. The evening entertainment takes place in an enclosed area next to the pool bar and wasnt big enough or open planned so that everyone could actually see or take part, but again the entertainment staff did all they could. The food was good at the hotel, pretty standard menu for spanish all inclusive, mealtimes were a bit hectic but thats to be expected, the added bonus of the chinese restaurant was great. The hotel is about a 20min walk (if you cut across the gravel paths) to the beach which is just stunning and well worth the trip downhill to get there, the walk back up the hill wasnt pleasant in the heat but a taxi was only about 4euros. There is nothing to do or see around the hotel at all, we like to have a little wander out in the evenings to enjoy a couple of drinks or meal but there is nothing at all unless you head into town.
The best thing about my stay was...Big spacious room with a gorgeous view (eventually!)

Dont believe the bad reviews
I am just back 23rd July to 3rd August with two other families. I read the reviews and was horrified to the degree I tried to change the hotel at the last minute however I was pleasantly surprised. Firstly the water park (Dino Park) is totally finished - its excellent and the kids all loved it (aged 12 - 16) there is a smaller area for ypunger kids which is also excellent. Check in was painless - the staff were friendly and efficient. There were safe keys for every apartment (no waiting list that I had previously read). The apartment was spotless and was cleaned every day as well as a change in towels. All incl - the breakfasts and lunches were fine always something to eat. The dinners were ok again you wouldn't go hungry. It was remote but there was an hourly bus to and from the beach and 3 - 4 Euros in a taxi to the main area at night. It was a 3 star and we got what we paid for. I wouldn't go again BUT if you are going you will have a good time - its not as bad as some people have said on these reviews
The best thing about my stay was...Waterpark, room cleanliness

staff's hard work makes difference
Craig Galloway, Troon
throughly enjoyed our all inclusive easter week. weather was very good, just one cloudy day. Kids club/entertainment was very good and all the staff couldn't have been more courteous - their efforts certainly enhanced our holiday. The night entertainment was a bit hit or miss but with young kids we weren't there for that anyway. Food and drink was decent - only the breakfast was disappointing. room was clean and functional, what you might expect for a three star. new water park being built just now looks like it will pretty good. well away from main pool/hotel area so building work was no problem. Downsides: Location, it's a wee bit set back from front, about a 20-min walk. And ice cream is no longer available all day, contrary to 2012 brochures, only at mealtimes. Some activities - archery, tennis kids playground - closed due to new water park being built

Animation team makes this holiday !
Kerry Peck, Hull
Booked through Alpharooms for a week at Paradise Island over Easter. The check in was very quick and easy , reception staff very friendly. Rooms basic but clean , we had clean towels most days. Pool area very clean and there are two pools to chose from. The smaller one is heated which was good as the larger one was still very cold. Restauraunt was clean and got quite busy but it wasnt a problem , the waiters were very helpfull to find us a table big enough for our group. There was a wide selection of food available and plenty of it. Must say the food was great ( our party had 4 kids and they always found something they liked) . The best part of this holiday was the animation team . Always happy and friendly day and night , they all worked so hard , and there was plenty of activities for both adults and kids . We would love to return in the summer and have already been onto the Alpharooms website , hope nothing changes and it stays so good . Value for money .... 10 / 10
The best thing about my stay was...Weather , animation, good food.

more than exceeded expectations!!
leigh wright, bradford
we arrived on 19th may and were been open minded after reading the reviews and should not have worried at all. food was graet never went hungry yes they was a lot of chicken and pork but its cooked differntly in different sauces etc, fish canarian potatoes pastas rice lots of veg, my children are fussy eaters but didnt go hungry and the desers are delicious. The chinese was also very nice and made a change and they also had mexican and italian nights. we were prepared to eat out but never felt the need to.Now to the annimation team they are what make your holiday they are fantastic, they come round at 10am say good morning to everyone then start the mini club which my kids were there twicwe a day and loved it made lots of friends and were well looked after. Then they were various activities through the day which you could either participate in or not, also they do a volcano walk on a wednesdsy morning which is worth going on.The mini disco starts at 8.30 doors open and is fun to watch my 2 loved dancing away every night we even asked the staff to do us a copy of the songs which they did free of charge, the entertasinment is just the usual family entertainment but is ok and watchable, yes there can be a quewe at the bar but did not let it spoil my night and the 11pm cut off for all inclusive is fine as we were all ready for bed then anyway. This was fantastic holiday and you do have to remember it is a 3 star and is deffinately value for money, as for the location you know how far away you are when you book your holiday so no probs there besides it was only 20 minute walk to town so nice walk down.or room was cleaned 5 times a week and if you needed spare towels in between just ask at reception, yes they were ants but your abroad there going to come in we just got some ant spray from the shop and problem solved. this was a great holiday best ever for the kids and would deffinately go back. annimation team ace!!

Short and Sweet
Mrs S Adams, Costa Teguise Lanzarote
This was booked last minute and as a cheap break. On arrival the reception staff were so friendly, which we thought was a good start. Then it went down hill from there. The food wasn't very nice in the dining room with there never being enough hot food prepared, the dining room staff were not welcoming and were found to be quite unpleasant at times. This didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves but comes under the term "you get what you pay for!"
The best thing about my stay was...It was short and sweet!

This is our fourth visit to this hotel and we at least expected a "Welcome Back" when we booked in - good to live in hope eh!! We lasted visited in Nov 10 and we can say that there have been some good, big changes since then, especially on the cleanliness in the buffet restaurant. Was always good but even this has improved and there is always a "suited and booted" manager in view. My wife had one minor complaint which was brought to the attention of manager and was resolved immediately. This hotel is out of the way, approx 1.5 miles from the middle of Playa Blanca; this is a great walk down into town (approx €2.5 - €3.5 taxi ride one way). Food in the hotel is good and they have theme nights; Italian, Spanish, Mexican and Chinese! Superb salads and loads of different fresh baked breads. Accommodation is spacious but now more than a little dated now. The maids do a superb job and the rooms are spotless, cleaned five times a week. Internet / Wifi: All the accommodation has Wifi but it is very expensive at €10 per day, I cannot imagine too many people paying this for this service. The bar by the reception has free Wifi and paid Internet (€1 per 10 mins - again 2 expensive). The swimming pool is FREEZING! Overall, a nice quiet location, great food, superb staff but rooms need a bit more attention to detail / updating.

Everything we needed
Neil Foreman, Brighton
We have stayed at the Paridise Island before so knew what to expect. We only booked HB this time as did not use everything on the All Inclusive which we booked before. Breakfast was great, everything you would want and as much as you want! Again evening meal was great. Whether you wanted hot or cold there was always a good choice. After returning home a diet was needed as we were having 2 - 3 helpings to 'sample' all the food! Rooms were to a high standard and very clean. The only down side I would say is the limited TV channels, but who goes on holiday to watch TV!
The best thing about my stay was...Not having to spend 50euros a night eating out.

This was our third stay at this complex and I'm afraid that Paradise Island is now Paradise Lost! We (husband and I and three other adults) loved this place because of its charm and laid back atmosphere. We stayed for two weeks but were counting the days till our flight home. The hotel is tired, shabby and in need of a complete refurbishment. Sitting around the pool bar we frequently witnessed peoples chairs falling apart and breaking under them, myself included. My chair simply fell apart and I was dumped onto the ground. The restaurant was a disaster. Frequently running out of plates, cutlery and glasses, causing long queus of irritated people. The food was unbelievably bad. Bland and poorly cooked. Most meat was dangerously undercooked and barely warm. We used to enjoy lazing by the pools, reading, snoozing or chatting. But now the peace is shattered by lound head banging music played for hours on end. During the evening the busy, very small bar was often manned by only one person causing long delays for drinks. Obviously, we will never return.
The best thing about my stay was...The weather
