Fantastic Hotel (full and honest review)
Tracy and Dean, UK
We are a family of 4, and booked the 2 bedroom all inclusive plus package. We were checked in swiftly and any queries were dealt with efficiently and in a professional, friendly manner. We were taken to our room within minutes. Our room (501) was close to reception and right next to the al fresco dining area. The room and beds were decorated with fresh flowers and there was a complimentary bottle of wine. The tea and coffee making facilities were sufficient for our needs and both bedrooms had a hairdryer and TV. The clever design of a cupboard to hide crockery, cutlery, glassware, sink and refrigerator was something we haven't seen before and worked well. The bathroom was clean, spacious and had complimentary bathroom products. The rear bedroom had french doors opened out on to one of the 3 swimming pools. There is a table and chairs right outside the room sharing a space with the room next door. The space although small, is enough to sit comfortably. In front of this space are the rows of sun loungers and parasols which surround the pool. Again, this area is a perfect size. The room itself was clean and very well equipped with local art displayed on the walls. Plenty of space, draws and storage. The beds are very comfortable and the room is sound proofed really well. The air conditioner worked well and was very quiet. The safety deposit box carries a charge and so does the wifi. This is explained on the website. The grounds and gardens are very well maintained and kept spotless. The dining areas are very well presented but can get very busy. The staff quickly attend to you and arrange a table if you can't find one suitable. There are a few resident cats which are friendly and no bother at all. The food is lovely. Always fresh, organic and very tasty. There's something for everyone with many choices at all three meal times in the main restaurant. The range of food available is outstanding. The breakfast choices had everything you could imagine, lunch a little lighter and the evening dinner had even more choice. Starters, mains and deserts with salads and pasta, breads, soups, side dishes and incredible, artistically presented, trays of specialist salads. The chef is a genius. We have all gained weight since being there for only one week. If I had to find a fault here, it would simply be that the main servery can get quite crowded and can be pretty manic and stressful, as people are walking in different directions, into one another whilst carrying plates of food and holding drinks. We tried to opt for the quieter times, but that is not always possible. The all inclusive plus package includes a 7 course Gala Dinner served next to the beach. I can honestly say, the food was spectacular. This time of year does not have the pool bar open which also serves snacks, but the Beach Side bar serves a lovely range of salads and snack options for the lazy afternoons. As it's a small hotel, you don't have to walk far to anything. This doesn't mean the resort is cramped. It's very well spaced out in lovely surroundings. The gym room is small and has limited equipment, but sufficient for holiday use. Although the weight training machine is worn and broken. There is a small dance studio room and a beautician's salon and spa on site also. All the staff are welcoming, friendly, professional and can't do enough to ensure you have a fabulous stay. Kosmas, the chef and his restaurant staff are attentive, patient and helpful. True assets to the hotel. Our son had his 12th birthday whilst we were there. Kosmas, Chef and the waiting staff surprised him with a beautiful birthday cake and a brilliant rendition of 'Happy Birthday'. The Beach Side Bar is clean, spacious and serves a wide range of drinks and cocktails. Make sure you check what is included in the all inclusive options as sometimes this can be misleading. A few other guests we spoke to weren't aware they could also get the cocktail of the day. All inclusive finishes at 22.45 and the bar remains open until 1am. The entertainment program is varied and rotated bi weekly. We had great fun every evening. Here is where i should mention the jewel in the crown. Tony the Beach Side Bar Bartender. He is fabulous! Entertaining, knowledgeable and extremely hardworking. Nothing is too much trouble and he makes the best cocktails in Malia! The beach is lovely. Clean, with plenty of sunbeds and amenities. The sea is shallow and water sports are on offer with special deals for High Beach guests. Some are included in the A.I plus package. For the people who wish to party Malia style...the bars and clubs are only a short walk away. For those who prefer the old town, and more traditional style tavernas, this is also within easy reach. There are plenty of trips and excursions available and the shopping areas are great. We can't wait to return.
The best thing about my stay was ...
All the staff, The amazing food, The wonderful atmosphere.
