NOT all inclusive!
Mrs T, Hayling Island
All the staff, with the exception of one young woman on reception, were very friendly & helpful, especially Cyril, the Duty Manager who found us an acceptable room on the second day of our stay as we hadn't slept the first night because of the noise - even though we had specifically requested a room in a quiet area.. We were disappointed that all inclusive did NOT include the safe in the room, the sauna, bottled water, the snacks (only previous meal's leftovers) including fruit salads etc. etc. The meals were very repetitive - in fact there seemed to be continuous recycling: leftover items from one meal chopped up & mixed with something for the next. The meals were always cold & the only hot plates were to be found in the children's section! If you like fish, you would probably love to experience all the different shapes & sizes but as meat eaters, there was very little choice. The catering was obviously aimed at all nationalities other than English. The hotel was very clean & the pool was fine, although we had to buy an umbrella as there were not nearly enough to go round. The entertainment was very poor: seemingly aimed exclusively for the local Spanish who found a line dance for every 'tune/song'. The transfer company they use ensure that you arrive as late as possible & leave as early as they can make it: we arrived at the airport at 3.40pm & got to the hotel at 7.20pm & on departure day we were picked up at 2.50pm for our 7.35pm flight!
The best thing about my stay was...The friendly staff

first time at H.top Pineda Palace, would go again
Amanda Dizen, Gillingham
Lovely Hotel and nice rooms. Clean and relaxed place to stay. More for older people than children. Entertainment lacking as just disco with the D.J Putting on music that he liked to dance to. Nice local shops. Very near train station. Lovely clean beach. Some bar staff rude. Other bar staff lovely.

Not too bad
Louise Fox, Skegness
Hotel bedrooms lovely. Food lovely, lots of choice. Evening entertainment was outside on a little stage. Very good entertainment when the reps were working but 2 nights they wasn't it was a singer all night or a keyboard and drum player. Nothing for the kids. Swimming pool very small on the roof, very disappointing. Card system to get drinks. Quite annoying because you have to take you glass back to get another drink and return glass at the end to get your card back. Pinedar De Mar resort is lovely,, will defiantly go back. Lovely beach and bars on the beach at night.

Lovely break in the sun
Elizabeth Leek, Cardiff
I travelled to the Pineda Palace for three nights with my daughter (17) and my friend for an early summer break. The hotel was very clean, rooms were adequate size for three people in single beds and all communal areas were presented very well. The pool on the roof of the building was small with a separate children's splash pool, but had lovely views of the beach. The bar at the pool was not always open necessitating a trip down to the ground floor level at times to get drinks. The hotel is nicely situated in a quiet resort which does not seem to attract the multiple stag/hen parties you are likely to encounter on your flight to Costa Brava. The beach is directly opposite - accessed via a subway under the road. There is a train track between the road and the beach with frequent running trains but this does not cause any problem with noise. We stayed all inclusive at the Pineda Palace and found the food lovely. I am vegetarian and as with most foreign hotels there was only limited choice for me on some days but I was always able to find something to eat and really enjoyed what I had. There was a slight issue with labelling of the food, as it was not always clear whether there was meat/fish in a dish which meant either taking a chance or giving it a miss altogether. The hotel entertainment was not great but was limited to fairly late on in the evening so could be avoided or just put up with. On the whole, we had a great time and I would recommend the hotel for families, couples and groups of friends looking for a quiet relaxing break.

H. Top - very bad advertisement for Spanish Tourist Industry
Graeme Sutherland, Ayr, Scotland
Arrived at Pineda Palace to find it boarded up with a note explaining all bookings transferred to either the Amaika or Calella Palace, both hotels situated in Calella which we had already passed through on the train. Had to purchase additional train tickets to get back to Calella where we went to the Amaika which was also boarded up with a note saying all reservations were transferred to the Calella Palace. Calella Palace was open with 1 Receptionist on duty - no apology on explaing our situation - no offer of recompense of additional travel costs, which would have been avoided if H. Top had the courtesy to tell us that the hotel was closed. As it was only a one stay this was extremely infuriating. I have stayed in the Amaika five times previously and have never known it to close. Doubt if I would ever use this hotel chain again and would advise anyone who has booked an H Top hotel to check that their hotel is actually going to be open.
The best thing about my stay was...Going back to Barcelona where the hotels we were staying in were customer friendly( the Expo & H10 Itaca hotels)

hotel not bad but the bar staff aren't the most friendly and sometimes quite rude
Michael Whiles, Preston
6 of us arrived at the hoyel for a 3 night break only to be told there was no room until the day after and that we would have to be moved to a sister hotel in callela and then return to the pineda palace the day after, although we received an upgrade to all inclusive gold this wasn't a good start to the short break. Once at our original destination the day after, we had to wait another 3 hours to check in after already checking in at the sister hotel the day before. the rooms were quite good though and the restaurant was very well run and the staff in the restaurant where friendly. My all inclusive card (not band) had to be recharged 6 times in 2 days extremely frustrating especially in the bar where the staff weren't at all friendly maybe because no cash means no tips
The best thing about my stay was...good value for money, good location for a quiet holiday if you can skirt over the down points

10 day holiday.
Patricia Turvey, Gwent
The hotel is fine and value for money. The food is good and plentyfull. Nice pool on the roof with stunning views. The reception staff were very helpful as was the manager in charge of the dining room. The rest of the dining room staff looked and acted as if they didn't want to be there. As others have reviewed, some of the rooms look straight at a brick wall, not very nice. Our room was a nice size with bath and 2 showers.
The best thing about my stay was...The position of the hotel, on the front and near the station.
