Clearwater is a city located in the state of Florida, to the west of Tampa and northwest of St. Petersburg and is home to some of America’s most beautiful beaches. It is exactly as it says on the tin – the crystal clear waters of the Gulf of Mexico, dazzling the shores of the soft and sandy Clearwater Beach. Many tourists flock to Clearwater each year, for a peaceful and tranquil break not too far from the hustle and bustle of Orlando and its many theme parks.

Visit Bright House Field, the baseball park home to the Clearwater Threshers, and enjoy the atmosphere of a minor league baseball game. This ballpark is also where the Philadelphia Phillies play their spring training games. There is a children’s play area and a group picnic area at the park as well as a large, high definition score board. The stadium is beautifully lined with palm trees and is a great place to spend quality time with the family.
Go Wild at Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay is a must visit for the ultimate theme park experience, located around 45 minutes east of Clearwater. The park boasts a huge collection of thrilling rollercoaster rides as well as world-class entertainment shows providing fun and excitement for all ages. Busch Gardens also has one of the largest zoos in North America, a state-of-the art home for more than 12,000 animals. Get your adrenaline pumping on SheiKra as you slowly rise up to 200 feet, before you take the plunge down the 90 degree drop, or cool off on the Congo River Rapids. If you are travelling with small children, enjoy some of the smaller rollercoasters, or take in the scenery on the Skyride.

On the Beach in Clearwater
Clearwater Beach is undoubtedly the main attraction of Clearwater, and has been named No. 1 of 25 top beaches in the United States on TripAdvisor’s Top Beaches for 2016. The sound of the turquoise blue waters washing up on the whitewashed shores makes for the perfect day in the Florida sun, topping up your tan whilst the children play in the warm, shallow waters. Rent a cabana or beach umbrella if you prefer to chill out in the shade with a book. Take a walk along the lively palm fringed promenade backing onto the beach or head to Pier 60 fishing pier for a sunset view that is second to none. For a little more peace and tranquillity, as well as all the amenities required for a great family day out, Sand Key is the place for you. There is free parking and a children’s playground.
Free parking is plentiful downtown, so catch a ferry from there to the beach to avoid traffic.
Eat and drink in Clearwater
There is much more to Clearwater than its ocean breezes and sugar-white sands, and the food is certainly a highlight. Whether you choose to savour the family-friendly atmosphere at Frenchy’s, or enjoy some seafood specialities straight from the Gulf on the beachfront, you are sure to find something to suit all tastes. The Grouper fish is a popular catch from the sea and a local favourite, so relax on the beach with an ice cold beer and a Grouper sandwich and watch the world go by.
Be sure to stick around for the beautiful sunset whether it is on a restaurant terrace, a boat deck or from a spot on the beach.
You can find a lively nightlife scene down by the water at Clearwater Beach. There are plenty of bars where music is playing all night. You will find a variety of bars and pubs, and some restaurants turn into trendy haunts after hours where you can dance the night away or relax with a cocktail and watch the sunset before partying to some of the best DJ’s.

Shopping in Clearwater
For the shopaholics amongst us, a visit to Westfield Countryside shopping mall is not one to be missed. The mall is easy to get to, conveniently located at the Intersection of US 19 and Highway 580. Shop ‘til you drop in the show-stopping choice of shops and designer outlets, before enjoying a tasty meal in the huge restaurant quarter or food court. Watch one of the latest movies at the Cobb Theatre or if you have any energy left, skate around on the indoor ice rink. Alternatively, head down to Cleveland Street District in Downtown Clearwater, the perfect place to take a break from the sun and explore the shops and boutiques.

Things to see in Clearwater
The warm Gulf seas are a heaven for dolphins, providing a brilliant opportunity to go dolphin watching. Take a boat trip from the marina and head out into the ocean where you can see the dolphins in their natural habitat, weaving in and out of the waves as they dance on the water, be sure to take some great photographs! Before or after the trip, you must visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. This marine life rescue centre is home to ‘Winter’, the star dolphin in the blockbusters ‘Dolphin Tale’ and ‘Dolphin Tale 2’, which were both filmed here.
Make sure you wear plenty of sun cream when going on the boat trip. The Florida sun can be very intense and it is easy to get carried away watching the dolphins.
A casual dining classic, where you can sit back and relax in a family-friendly atmosphere, and enjoy some delicious seafood. With four quirky restaurants in Clearwater, Frenchy’s is famous for its fresh Grouper sandwich and other fresh fish, straight from the Gulf that same day and at reasonable prices.
