Loving London!!

This our 2nd weekend visit to this area of London - and it will not be our last! Vibrant, colourful, quirky, bustling, exciting, historic - and friendly!!! There is so much to see and do here without the need to ever cross the river!! Don't miss Borough Market, take a walk along the riverside in either direction to visit some of the best sights in London - or simply stroll around at leisure to get a real taste of all that the area has to offer! Southwark is really easy to access on the Tube (from Paddington for example, take Bakerloo line to Elephant & Castle, then go two stops on Northern line to London Bridge Station - simples!!)

The best thing about my stay was ...

Such a lot to do and see (on foot!), without having to leave the area!

A hidden Gem!

When we first stepped onto the street at London Bridge tube, we were a little wary - not the most picturesque areas of London! However, we soon found our way onto the riverside promenade - and changed our minds very quickly about our choice of location! Great walks/views along the Thames, Borough Market - hidden away under the railway arches - is a food lovers paradise, and a must to visit!! Southwark Cathederal provised a tranquil, but interesting escape from the bustle of the market. Access to all that London has to offer could not be easier (by bus, tube or even on foot!!), whilst providing a quiet refuge to return to at the end of a long day sightseeing! Great plce to stay, and we will definitely be making this our London base on future visits to the Capital!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Masses to see and do within walking distance, great access to rest of city!

pretty decent area

Great location, near the Thames, lots of restaurants, markets, pubs, places of interest (the Clink museum etc), there's clubs and easy access back into central london. A great place to be located.

The best thing about my stay was ...

so much to see and do near the Thames

Don't take a wrong turn from Elephant & Castle Tube

I turned the wrong way trying to find my hotel and ended up on the Newington Estate by mistake. I'm fairly streetwise, but it was a bit disconcerting as there were gangs hanging round. The Elephant & Castle Shopping center is being demolished I think. The area is run down on the whole but I think they are regenerating. I wouldn't stay there again though - I'd rather pay more money for a B&B that is central.

The best thing about my stay was ...

I only stayed in a B&B there for one night, so can't comment.
