Dubai Holidays & Hotels

Hotels in Dubai

Glitzy all inclusive and majestic family friendly resorts are what Dubai is all about. The UAE city caters for all types of holidaymakers, whether you’re after a relaxing beach break away from the hustle and bustle, or whether you’re after a futuristic hotel in the middle of all the action.

Dubai is a city that doesn’t do things by halves: from its man-made islands to its grand shopping centres, everything is geared towards making your holiday the trip of a lifetime. And with a thriving nightlife scene, stunning beaches and world-famous sights, your trip to Dubai is sure to be memorable.

Where to stay

The Palm Jumeirah

A man-made island built to look like a palm tree, the Palm Jumeirah is home to some of the city’s most exclusive and luxurious hotels. Many of them feature shops, family-friendly waterparks, restaurants and more, making it easy to enjoy your whole holiday without even leaving the resort! But if you do, you’ll be just metres away from some of the most stunning beaches in Dubai, where it’s possible to sunbathe or take part in some adventurous watersports.

Dubai Marina

Close to the beach and some of Dubai’s most iconic sights, the Dubai Marina area offers the best of both worlds. It’s got a handful of big-name chain resorts, many of which have direct access to the white sands of the beach. Between valuable beach time and strolls around the Dubai Marina, you’ll also be close to golf courses, dozens of international restaurants and various shopping centres including the Marina Mall.

Al Barsha 1

Being a little away from the city centre and the beach, Al Barsha is perfect for budget conscious travellers. Al Barsha 1 has got a whole host of cheaper chain hotels, as well as apartments that offer a stylish home-from-home. Although it’s a short drive from the city centre and the beach, Al Barsha 1 is the perfect location for shopaholics, with Mall of the Emirates being right on the doorstep.

What to see

Dubai is a city where virtually anything is possible. One minute you could be trying your hand at skiing indoors on real snow at Ski Dubai, and the next you could be topping up your tan on one of the beautiful nearby beaches. It’s a place for one-of-a-kind experiences and memorable moments, ensuring your holiday is one you’ll never forget. One of the most popular attractions is the Burj Khalifa, otherwise known as the world’s tallest building. The 160-storey skyscraper offers striking views out across Dubai from its observation deck, although it’s not one for the faint-hearted!

Kids are spoilt for choice when it comes to entertainment too. As well as a Legoland® Dubai, there’s also the IMG Worlds of Adventure, an indoor amusement park that features thrilling rides split across different zones. The whole family can get involved with the fun at one of Dubai’s many water parks - there’s the Aquaventure Waterpark at Atlantis, The Palm, which has jaw-dropping slides through shark-filled lagoons. And then there’s Wild Wadi water park close to Jumeirah Beach, which has a range of aquatic roller coasters and multiple slides.

Much like its resorts, Dubai goes all out with its nightlife. After-dark opportunities include raucous nightclubs and hotel bars, as well as pool and beach parties to make the most of the sun. The area around Al Fahidi Street is a good place to start your night, as there are a handful of big clubs just metres away from each other, many of which roll on until the very early hours of the next morning. Drinking is only allowed in hotels and some licensed venues.

What to eat

Dubai really does cater for all tastes, and that’s evident from the number of international chains it has dotted around the city. It’s got a Nando’s, a Cheesecake Factory and a handful of Starbucks coffee shops, meaning you don’t have to look too far to feel at home whilst on holiday here. For something special, Dubai goes all out with luxury fine dining, although it’s also possible to get a feel for the Dubai way of life on a budget. Dates are a staple of the local diet and can be picked up in markets across the city, while luqaimats are perfect for a mid-afternoon snack. They’re delicious hot dumplings which are served with a sticky date sauce and sesame seeds, with fresh batches regularly made at Dubai’s many cafes.

When holidaying in Dubai you are spoilt for choice when it comes to shopping. There are two sides to the shopping experience in Dubai, though: firstly, there’s the luxurious high-end stores in shopping centres such as The Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates. And then there are the array of stalls within the souks, selling cheap souvenirs, textiles and clothes. Haggling is encouraged in the souks, and is also part of all the fun.
