Beautiful location

In season a lively night time resort with many lovely restaurants to choose from, a bit limited out of season but enough. Some good excursions on offer. The friendly disposition of locals is lovely but not so lovely are the ones who don't take no for an answer, they can be a bit intimidating.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Scenic.

beautiful blend of historical and new

Loved Side. Roman ruins to freely wander through, sitting alongside modern shopping areas, restaurants and dance bars. Relaxing harbour and long beachside walks. West beach is a bit busy and sunbathers are like sardines, East beach a bit quieter and not so jam packed (I prefered the East). Lots of shops selling the ubiquitous 'fake' designer goods, with only very few selling genuine Turkish crafts...such a shame, never the less not a BurgerKing or Macdonalds in sight...thank goodness....in a place like Side it would be good to see continued authentic Turkish goods and food.

The best thing about my stay was ...

mix of Roman history and Turkish life

Pretty resort, not as commercial as many

Architectually outstanding. A pretty resort much more suited to the discerning traveller than those who prefer the "all inclusive" "fish and chips" type of resort.

Side is a lovely town

We stayed about 25/30min walk (or a 5min taxi ride) from Side old town and harbour. Which was great because we wanted a very quite place to stay. The old town is lovely - very lively! there is a main street with dozens of shops and restuarants, all set in the old ruins (free to look around) - the Temple of Apollo looked beautiful in the sunset. The harbour is great to wonder around - they often seemed to have entertainment in the main square, and watching the ice cream sellers was facinating. Would recommend The End Bar and Restuarant (GREAT service), and The Aphrodite. And if you are longing for some great food, I can't recommend getting a taxi or bus out to the Irish Bar (The Shamrock). (Ask the driver to take you too Jennet Market, pronounced Janet Market).

The best thing about my stay was ...

Lovely atmosphere, great ruins in the harbour.

Side a nice little town

Side is nice. People are nice though the salesmen are a little pushy. Do go rafting and see the wonderful views of Köprulu Kanyon. You can book a trip anywhere from Side. Antik Side is a bit more expensive, but the views are amazing.

Huge resort with fantastic beaches and many hotels, restaurants & bars on the promenade. Fantastic history and monuments. We would go back there, but not to the remote area where we were which was a long walk from the centre.
