Antalya - Turkey at its best

Antalya is special because of the warmth and hospitality of its citizens. Turkish hospitality : genuine, gentle, wide smiles. The food was amazing. The prices superb. Amazing archaeological museum and sites near by. Safe, and a spotless - clean city. I constantly felt embraced by the kindness of the locals. Only the Antalyans know how to receive their guests; as guests and not mere Tourists to be exploited for their Euro. I shall return.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The warmth of genuine Turkish hospitality. Turks know how to make you feel welcome.

Large modern city. Excellent infrastructure.

Antalya is a large modern city with excellent scenery on the coast and a historical picturesque harbor. Supr place for shopping for clothes and jewellery. Some restaurants don't have menus in english which can be a problem and English is no widely understood and can cause peoblems.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Shopping and scenery.

Great city

A very busy city (almost 1.000.000 habitants). But if you stay on the sea side, it is very beautifull with an authentic tramway (very cheap), a beautiful and touristic old city (Kaleici) with a lot of restaurants and bars and a marbelous harbour to make boat trips, for exemple to the Kundu waterfall. Lots of busses, so you don't need a car.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Kaleici (old town)

Antalya is a wonderful city it has the new side and the old town ,good modern shopping and old town shops and markets.Good eating areas in both the new and old parts, the harbour, hadrians gate, waterfalls and the old and the ultra ultra modern trams.More expensive in a large city but you expect that, all in all a great city on the coast and well worth taking the time to go and enjoy.

fascinating place

The Old Town of Kaleici has a beautiful harbour and plenty of places to eat, drink, and shop. Boat trips aplenty. small private beach costing £3 per person but with free sunbeds/umbrellas once there. Stunning views from various restaurants set above the harbour. Salesmen still drive you crazy but otherwise Turkish people are very friendly and are not the hard anti-west types I've been led to believe. Some shops even have signs saying we won't interrupt your browsing but not many. A different shopping culture I suppose but just don't be intimidated
