Rawai
An important factor to considering when booking a holiday in Rawai is the beach here isn’t really suitable for sunbathing or swimming due to the boat trips that depart from here. For beach lovers however, there is good snorkeling off Laem Phromthep. The beach was once the most popular tourist beach in Phuket but the development of Patong, Kata and Karon beach have left Rawai a bit behind. There are however a lot of exciting things to see and do in the area and it’s a good base for exploring Phuket as a whole.

She sells sea shells on the sea shore...
Rawai is home to Phuket’s Seashell Museum which has been established for over 30 years. The museum is home to over 2000 species and highlights include rare golden pearls, the only discovered left handed Noble Volute and a collection of fossils thought to date back 380 million years. There is also a gorgeous gift shop in the museum which is great for picking up gifts which include a selection of shells, jewellery and pearls.
Let’s Get Physical
For those who are interesting in boxing or getting fit why not try a trip to the Muay Thai Camp but be warned this is anything but a relaxing holiday. People travel from all over the world to the camp for a range of many reasons which includes anything from total detox and colon cleansing weeks to Marathon training. Prices are cheap and the cost for a week starts at approximately £65.00.
Phromthep Cape
The town of Alcúdia and Puerto Alcudia offers lots of shopping opportunities, selling local crafts, jewellery, leather goods, souvenirs, cosmetics, fashion and well priced alcohol and tobacco. The markets are great for leather goods, such as belts and handbags and the Big Banana Shopping Centre in the harbour is ideal for alcoholic bargains, as well as Supermarket Colber in Pere Mas i Reus, close to the Bellevue complex. Other shops of interest include Chess, for t-shirts, clothes and unusual gifts and Agata, selling fascinating mineral stones. Fashionistas will also enjoy browsing the high fashion boutiques in the harbour.
