Fantastic holiday destination. Easy access, well connected. The beach is clean, with swallow water and full of small fishes hence one can do some snorkeling. It is very close to one of the largest prehistoric sites of the island (Torres d'el Galmes) which is fantastic to visit (although hiring a car is required, and note there is no petrol station in Son Bou, the closest is in Alaior). Son Bou itself is a lovely place, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. There are some walking routes nearby if you want to enjoy a more rural experience.

Silient Son bou

If its a quiet, chilled holiday you are looking for, then Son Bou is great. There is several nice places to eat and a couple of family freindly bars. However, the main attraction for us was the beautiful white beach and shallow waters, ideal for the kids. Tip - invest in a beach brolley and air beds as the hire of two beds and an umberella is 17€/day

Fabulous Beach

Son Bou is a small resort and can be quiet but is generally lively enough. It has enough shops, bars and places to eat to suit most people. The beach is fantastic and must be what most people got here for.

BEAUTIFUL BEACH, LOVELY PEACEFUL RESORT
MRS S CRAGG, MANSFIELD, NOTTS
SON BOU HAS ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES ON THE ISLAND. THE RESORT AND THE PROPERTIES ARE WELL LOOKED AFTER AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED. THE RESORT HAS ENOUGH BARS AND RESTAURANTS TO GIVE PEOPLE SOME VARIETY OVER A WEEKS STAY. THE RESORT OFFERS FAMILY HOTELS, AND A WIDE CHOICE OF SELF CATERING ACCOMMODATION. THE RESORT IS NOT TOO LIVELY AND WILL NOT APPEAL TO THE YOUNGER MARKET OF TRAVELLERS, BUT WILL APPEAL TO THOSE FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN.

Good restuarants and bars
Eric Bartholomew, Berkshire
This is our 2nd time to Son Bou and once again it didn't disappoint, there are a good choice of resturants and bars with a choice of entertainment, we had fabulous weather for the time of year and the beach is brilliant but expensive if you want to hire a sunbed and umbrella every day. There are enough shops to browse round but also quite expensive, there is a good bus service into Mahon 2 euros 35 one way, and takes about 20 mins. The Kit Kat English bar is good for quiz nights with Clive and Lucy, and there is a good bowling alley, and Casa Andres is the best restuarant.

A bit on the quiet side.

Granted we were visiting in September so the busiest part of the season was over but we found the island a little limited overall. Son Bou itself is pretty, exceptionally clean and the beach is beautiful. Highlights were the two beach restaurants/bars that sit right on the beach and offer stunning views of Menorca's beautiful sunsets whilst at the same time providing good food via attentive and friendly staff. Se Garces (green flags) is the best for an evening meal, while it's sister bar (pink flags) a short walk along the beach from it, is ideal for relaxing and enjoying a few cocktails in the sun. We're a newly married couple in our late 20s / early 30s and last year, visited Rhodes for our summer break - we felt Rhodes had more of what we were looking for. Lively stunning little market seaside towns, amazing archeological ancient sites that cost next to nothing or nothing at all to see, great water parks, hidden gem restaurants and bars looking over old Greek towns and mountainscapes, various places to visit, some with more nightlife than others... in comparison Menorca was just that little bit too small. It has one main road that runs through it and around 3 or 4 good places to visit. Our favourite by far was Ciutadella. It's a beautiful bustling harbour town. The restaurants on the waterfront are wonderful and the food was absolutely delicious. There are some lovely streets to wander through filled with cafe bars and restaurants and the odd church or cathedral around corners. It's around a 40 min drive from Son Bou without public transport links though. All in all, Son Bou is lovely, clean and small. A great place for a relaxing "do nothing" break but if you're a little more into exploring the culture and seeing sights I'd advise staying nearer Ciutadella on the other side of the island.

We only went to Son Bou once - to the beach - but had to go back to the hotel after a few hours because it was too hot and we had no shade. From what we saw there seemed to be a good number of bars/restaurants and shops selling souvenirs. There was a reasonably good supermarket for all your essential supplies. Had it not been so hot we would have happily stayed at the beach but sunbed rental seemed expensive (34 euros for 4 per day).

Reasonable amount of things to do.
Colin Martin, Bedfont
The area of Son Bou is a concentration of rental apartments and hotel resorts with a small complex of shops, bars and restaurants as the main focal point. Ideal for small families with young children, or mature adults the overall appeal is pretty limited and a week would be a maximum recommendation for stay. There is a delightful beach nearby, and some bars and hotels offer some nightly entertainment. The area seems pretty dated and quiet with a car necessary to travel to the main city or other attractions, as well as bus service daytime.
