Santa Eulalia Overview

The third largest resort in Ibiza, Santa Eulalia is an increasingly popular destination for people looking for a relaxed, sophisticated holiday. The resort centre is an idyllic place to spend time. The lush gardens, ornate fountains and impressive marina provide a great back drop for a holiday. The beach is broad and gently curving with lovely clear and safe water.
Santa Eulalia is the place to come for food lovers. There are some great local restaurant in and around the old town. Look out for Calle San Vicente, the ‘Street of Restaurants’. The road is closed to vehicles in the evening and becomes an avenue of places to eat with tables and chairs sprawled across the road as locals and tourists tuck in.

Palm tree lined promenade

The impressive resort of Santa Eulalia lies on the south east coast of Ibiza, approximately 9 miles from Ibiza Town. There are town beautiful beaches, a sparkling marina and Ibiza’s only river, the Rio de Santa Eulalia, flows into the Mediterranean to the west of the resort centre. The heavily pedestrianised centre of the resort makes Santa Eulalia an easy place to get around. The palm tree lined promenade runs the length of the resort and is great for an early morning run or stroll.

Ancient Roman Bridge

The main beach is a gently shelving strip of sand that runs from the marina down to the Punta d’en Castello complete with ornamental fountain and look out post. Beyond this point is the Mariner’s Beach, longer but quieter with hotels overlooking the soft white sand. At the far end of this beach is the point where the Rio de Santa Eulalia’s journey ends as it meets the warm Mediterranean. It is possible to follow the path of this river back inland as far as a beautiful and ancient Roman bridge. From here it is a short walk back to the resort centre.

Explore the coastline

The town is full of places to eat and drink and has a special street that comes alive at night with places to eat. The marina is a dazzling addition to the Santa Eulalia seafront and provides not only a safe haven for luxury yachts but also for hungry and thirsty holidaymakers. You can explore the coastline by boat with trips to nearby town and islands running from the marina daily. Nearby towns to explore include the ancient and iconic Ibiza Town to the west as well as the picturesque Portinatx in the north.

Things to do in Santa Eulalia

On the beach in Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia Beach is a well located beach with excellent facilities and entertainment on offer. The beach is about 300 metres long with the marina sitting at the far end providing some shelter. The promenade behind the beach is lined with cafes, bars and restaurants. There are watersports on offer and lifeguards in the summer.  Beyond the Punta d’en Castello is the Mariner’s Beach, connected via the Passeig Maritim. This beach is a close walk to the resort centre and offers the same range of facilities including loungers and parasols. At the far end of the beach lies the mouth of the Rio de Santa Eulalia. There is a tiny little fishing harbour that marks the end of the beach. It is possible to walk up alongside the river and cross into neighbouring Siesta.

Top Tip:

Set up camp towards the marina and enjoy a nice lunchtime treat overlooking the yachts moored in the picture book harbour.

Eat and drink in Santa Eulalia

The centre of the resort is packed with places to enjoy lunch, an evening meal or just a few drinks and maybe some tapas. The ‘Street of Restaurants’, Carrer de Sant Vincent, runs between the streets of Sant Llorens and Sa Bastida. In the height of summer the street is closed to cars and is basically wall to wall eateries. A nice alternative is the area around the marina with some lovely restaurants overlooking the floating luxury. The sea front is also dotted with great restaurants bars offering picture book views of the surrounding coast.

Top Tip:

For a treat, try the Nikki Beach resort, east of Santa Eulalia. Great food, incredible scenery and perfect luxury.

Santa Eulalia nightlife

Santa Eulalia does not attempt to compete with Ibiza Town or Playa d’en Bossa. Nights are more laid back with families taking centre stage in most venues. Live music is popular and there are several places in and around the town offering great entertainment and the chance to sing along. The marina has a good selection of bars that run into the early hours with Guarana the pick of the bunch. This smart venue has two regular club nights and has a relaxed outdoor terrace if the pace is too hot for you indoors. A sophisticated alternative to the buzz of the town is the rooftop at Agua de Ibiza, around the bay beyond the marina. Order a cocktail and enjoy a special meal with a spectacular view.

Top Tip:

If you need a bit more life consider a trip down the coast to the clubbing hotspot of Ibiza Town.

Shopping in Santa Eulalia

Santa Eulalia is a working town meaning there is a practical range of shops available beyond the usual beach front stores selling beach balls and sun cream. The broad Passeig de s’Alamera has a pedestrianised, palm tree lined, centre leading up into the town. There are regular market stalls as well as a wide range of permanent stores selling everything from jewellery to real estate. The hippy market in nearby Es Canar is a popular day trip. Open every Wednesday, there are over 500 stalls selling a mixture of local goods including jewellery and clothing.

Things to see in Santa Eulalia

Explore the surrounding coast and countryside during your visit. The stunning island of Ibiza is waiting to be discovered. A firm family favourite is the small tourist train that runs from the marina most day of the week. It will wind through the surrounding hills and pine forests before stopping for refreshments in idyllic Cala Boix. The return journey brings you along the glorious coast. Alternatively, head off shore and explore the coast and surrounding islands. There are regular boat trips to nearby Formentera, a picturesque island of beaches and pine forests.

Top Tip:

For a slice of history, head south to Ibiza Town and explore the ancient Dalt Vila complete with hilltop church.

We Recommend

Sa Carboneria

Meat lovers should check in here as soon as they arrive in Santa Eulalia. Sa Carboneria is beyond the ‘Street of Restaurants’ tucked away on Carrer Isidor Macabich. Seek it out and try and grab a table in the beautifully lit courtyard. It may be worth reserving.

Liquido Cocktail Bar

A great place for a relaxing drink day and night. The views across the marina are incredible from the terrace. Good cocktail menu and friendly service.

Santa Eulalia Flower Festival – May

This incredible festival is actually a celebration of a miracle that occurred when a hilltop church collapsed, sliding down the hill into the sea. Amazingly nobody was killed. From that point onwards locals have flocked to Santa Eulalia on their horse and cart to celebrate this miracle. Expect to see brightly decorated carts complete with amazing floral displays. The area is busy with celebrations including music, dancing, food and drink.

Very clean resort, plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. Nice beaches. Good options for getting around, folr example taxis, buses to all areas and the boats on the marina also take you to Cala Longa, Ibiza Town etc. You can go on the main public boats or there are some people hiring boats for private hire if you want to make a day of it.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Good for families and couples, very clean.

An excellent resort with a great choice of bars and restaurants. The prom is one of the best I know and the beach is clean and spacious. Central point for travelling to other parts of the island

Well maintained resort, family friendly with polite friendly people

, London

I found the resort to be friendly, calming and pleasantly relaxing. The beach was clean and well maintained, the shops were with walking distance from where I stayed. The weather was gorgeous coupled with a clean sea water.

The best thing about my stay was ...

It is a very friendly resort and family assisting.

San Eulalia

, Telford

We usually stay in Cala LLonga which is really nice but a bit quiet. San Eulalia has much more going on without being too 'blackpool-y'. There are plenty of shops, some with the usual nick nacks & some 'proper' shops. There are lots of restaurants, bars & cafes. The beach is nice & a walk around the harbour to see all the boats is a must.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Lively without being too commercialised.

10/10 Amazing

Very clean and shopping was geat!

, Halesowen

We found the area to be very clean. We have been regular visitors to mainland Spain and nothing comes close to how clean Santa Eulalis was. Shopping was pretty good, especially for shoes. The resort offered an array of bars and resturants catering for all tastes, and even the fussiest will find something to eat! The beach was also very clean and offered water sports. We were very surprised to see very few 'lucky lucky' sellers and you were not hassled to go into restuarants. We would definately return to Santa Eulalia in the very near future!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Cleanliness and hardly any 'lucky lucky' sellers!

Santa Eulalia - an Ibizan gem

, Sheffield

When my partner first talked about going to Ibiza in 2007, I thought no way! However, Santa Eulalia is one of the best places I've stayed at, and we've been back at least once a year since 2007. It's a great town, and as it is a working town it still has a Spanish feel. There are great beaches and a long promenade to walk, sit and people watch on. The harbour is picturesque. There are many many restaurants in the resort - around the harbour, on the sea front and also in town. On 'Restaurant Street' you will find an abundance of different types of restaurants. Our favourite places to eat are Kathmandu (Indian - huge naan breads and gorgeous rice) The Gallery (beautifully presented food - burgers, steaks, pasta, yummy cheesecake), Daffer's (3 courses for 15.50 Euros - a large selection of choices) and Chicho's (Wood burning stove - great pizzas and rosemary and onion bread) There is also a selection of shops - clothes, shoes, perfume, jewellery, souvenirs etc. Don't forget to visit the Pacha shop too. If you fancy a trip out, there are buses to all the other resorts, Ibiza town is 30 minutes away and 2 Euros each way. There is also the ferry boats to other resorts.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The whole package

10/10 Amazing

great for families & couples

is not a rowdy here we go resort. It is a classy resort with nice bars and good restaurants particularly in the "restaurant street" about 5 streets back from the prom. The prom is lovely and perfect for strolling and people watching.

Perfect location for a relaxing holiday

, Liverpool/Merseyside

Santa Eulalia is only small but has lots of really nice eating places, a few shops but not an area for shoppers. The harbour is lovely to stroll along with lots of cafe bars to stop for drinks. The beach is small but clean. I didnt go with children but it doesnt look as if there is much for children (maybe I just wasnt looking).

10/10 Amazing

Nice Relaxing resort.

, Irvine Scotland.

Plenty of restaurants bars etc. What I like about Santa Eulalia is that there are no disco or karaoke bars. Nice to sit and have a meal and a drink on the marina.

The best thing about my stay was ...

10/10 Amazing

Lovely clean place, nice beach, friendly and good food.

, Scarborough, UK

A smaller, quieter town on Ibiza, very laid back and relaxing. Good shops, lovely clean beach, sea front and marina all good. Restaurant street caters for good food and there are plenty of cafes. A must visit, and a real alternative to the hustle and bustle of Ibiza town and San Antoni.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Quiet, relaxing and clean.

10/10 Amazing

We love Santa Eulalia. Nice beach front, marina and loads of lovely places to eat and drink!

, Cheshire

It's a lovely little resort but plenty to do (marina, beach front, walkway down from Town Hall, restaurant's street). We have been several times for a short break and would have no hesitation going back or recommending to family and friends.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Quiet, but lots of different areas to sit, eat and drink and watch the world go by!

10/10 Amazing

Lovely resort which retains its Spanish charm

, Tamworth

Really loved this resort. The weather was lovely, which always helps, but the best thing about it is the fact it retains is Spanish charm. There are English bars and restaurants available, for those who want it, but for those that do, there are many lovely bars and restaurants offering great food at reasonable prices. The larger supermarkets such as Eroski are so much cheaper than the mini markets, thats its worth going a little out of your way to do a larger shop. A lot of bars and restaurants are closed at this time of year, but there are still plenty open, to have enough option. There is a local bus that runs from the airport to the centre of Santa Eulalia, but at this time of year, you will need to catch a bus from the airport (Route 10) to the centre of Ibiza town (Eivissa), and then change on to another bus (Route 13) that takes you to Santa Eulalia (Santa Eularia del Rio). The price is currently around a total of 5 Euro per person, each way, but saves a lot of money, as transfers are expensive. Lovely resort, cant wait to go back during the summer months.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The fact it retains its Spanish charm, and the ridiculously cheap supermarkets.

10/10 Amazing
