Ronda is a spiritual and historical destination with architecture that dates back to before the 15th century. The town itself is located high in the mountains of the Serrania de Ronda,on either side of the river Guadalevin which cuts its way through the deep ravine below. Aside from the usual bars and restaurants, there are a number of traditional shops to browse on the Calle Nueva pedestrian street.
Who should go?
Ronda is suited to visitors eager for culinary and scenic delights rather than commercial centres or adventure. There is little to entertain children but plenty of historical and cultural points of interest for anyone fascinated by the town’s past.
Ronda sits perched atop a platform of rock so the views from the town are spectacular. There are lots of churches and museums to explore and three natural parks close by.
