Great beaches,No highrise hotels,Interesting local shopping

We like Mojacar. It has several miles of beaches of varying types of gravel or sand.Lots of low rise accommodation varying from luxury to low budget.Lots of good eateries with all popular styles of cuisine available.Few(if any) national chains of shops but many local, ranging from "Kiss me Quick" through "Pound (Todo)" shops to quite stylish. There are lots of things to do whatever your age/taste but ,happily,it's not Benidorm (no offence intended) In August it is always packed solid with Spanish visitors and is probably best avoided ! Rest of the time it is quite chilled.Of course,it has superb weather.

an accessible part of spain

friendly little town with something for everyone. plenty of beaches (not stunning) but nice very accessible lots of little bars, eating establishments, shops, banks and a couple of supermarkets. we find the central position in mojacar the best for convenience, we have stayed in the marina mar which is a lovely hotel but to far out of the town

We always enjoy the area

At the time we visited it was very quiet. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to visit and many markets to browse. We also visit friends we have made in Mojacar after many years of visiting and would recommend Mojacar for a peaceful winter break which is the time that we usually visit.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Varied lifestyle.

A little gem!

This was only the third time we have stayed on the beach in Mojácar which we have been visiting regularly since 1984. The beach is OK but for the real charm try to find somewhere to stay up in the old village on top of the hill. We recommend Torre Bahia for a good meal. (Only a short walk from the Puntazo) or up in the village try el Antler where Stuart and Sharon have been turning out consistently good food for many years. Not a place for ravers except in July & August when the nightclubs open on the beach. In June there is a spectacular Fiesta in the village which runs for about 4 days ending in a magnificent procession of Moors and Christians - make sure you have plenty of capacity in your camera!

The best thing about my stay was ...

The old village

Traditional Spanish resort suffering from the recession.

Don't expect Benidorm, much more laid back with some good chirunguitos, atmospheric village and good beach. A bit of Spanish will help immensely.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Spanish Experience if you want it.

Smashing, visit Mojacar village, not to be missed.

Lovely beach town with sufficient bars and restaurants to afford plenty of choice. Long sandy beaches with many of the hotels just across the road. Good shopping centre at the beach front. The village is a 10 minute drive away and although very hilly, it is well worth the walk to the viewing area, the vista is stunning. Many local gift shops with things which are a little bit different, nice for a morning or afternoon out.

Mojacar - chilled out place to be.

If you are looking for a nice relaxing holiday then Mojacar is the place to be in October, cannot comment on the summer months, I am sure it would be very busy but this time of year it is brilliant if you want peace and quiet. The beaches are excellent, the sea is very clear. There is not a lot to do in the town itself, very few shops and bars and restaurants are pretty well spread out along the coast. Our hotel was on the outskirts of Mojacar which could be a problem if you were not able to walk very far as you would need to get the bus, taxi or car to get anywhere. The nearest pub or restaurant to us was a good 10715 min walk away. There was a Parque Commercial with some shops but not many. If you have kids then I would recommend you stay in a hotel that has a kiddies club on the other hand if your kids are happy with the beach then they would be fine, the beaches are gorgeous. Mojacar itself is a very clean place.

Peaceful but shabby

Mojacar beach is a 4 kilometre strip development along the coast. Mojacar town is a kilometre inland (all uphill) but only from the Parque Commercial complex on the beach road. The biggest area of bars and restaurants is at the south end of the beach - 3 kilometres from the town. This area has the best beach. Hotels are scattered all along the beach, so location is important to get the type of holiday you want. Apart from the Spanish holiday rush in August, Mojacar is a quiet resort and is looking a little shabby because of the many empty bars and restaurants and half finished buildings (no longer viable). Given that, Mojacar is not an expensive resort and is very child friendly with some excellent beaches. Also, there are a few discos for teenagers.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Numerous beached and restaurants

Great for an empty beach

Area close to hotel several bars and restaurants. This time of year (November) alot of them closed however there was still plenty of choice. Weather hot and sunny and able to pick my spot on the beach and get a tan.

Pick your season !!

Nice hassle free resort which happened to be mostly closed during our visit ( 1st two weeks in October). Handily placed for golf holiday if you hire a vehicle. Don't play Macenas, worse course I've played in thirty years. Vall de'est, Desert Springs, Marina, Aguillon all worth a visit.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Sunshine and relaxation

English Beach Resort in Spain

As we have visited friends before this Costa Almeria resort is like going to Blackpool, Southend or Skegness but is in Spain with lots of sunshine. If you are looking for culture, museums & Spanish lifestyle keep away !! This resort offers the UK & Irish contigency something home from home it suits some people as there is no language barrier and if you miss fish n chips or just a pint of Guinness or John Smiths then this place is for you. If it's Spanish people , food & flamenco shows then head up the coast or down here you will discover the true parts of Spain

The best thing about my stay was ...

A bus leaves every hour for Malaga & Alicante
