Costa Brava Overview
The Costa Brava is an incredibly diverse area of mainland Spain. Situated in the north east of Spain, the rugged coast runs from Blanes in the south all the way up to the French border. The rise of tourism in the last 50 years has seen rapid development in resorts such as Lloret de Mar and Blanes. These pockets of coastal development are more than balanced by areas of outstanding natural beauty and unspoilt villages and towns.
Dive deep into the Mediterranean
The impressive coast is the draw for tourists from across Europe and is a favourite destination for Barcelona locals seeking to escape the city in the summer. The Blue Flag beaches and long coastal paths offer an idyllic alternative to the larger, busier resorts of southern Spain. Off shore the beautiful Medes Island Nature Reserve is a spectacular destination for diving and snorkelling enthusiasts.
A surreal destination
The area is rich in culture and has a proud Catalonian history. Salvador Dali called the picturesque Cadaques his home and you can explore the cobbled streets that inspired him. There are three museums in the area celebrating the man and his work. You should take the time to explore ancient roman ruins and local architecture that are dotted across the Costa Brava.
