Calella Holidays & Hotels

Hotels in Calella

Located just 50 km north of Barcelona, the lively resort of Calella is a popular tourist destination with lots of fantastic places to stay. Large hotel complexes line the shoreline, where families can enjoy an all-inclusive stay. With self-catering apartments and even low cost hotels providing a cheaper alternative, there’s a place for everyone under the Spanish sun.

Where to stay

One of the three golden beaches of Calella, Garbi beach offers a picturesque setting for a sunny holiday. Enjoy the water sports on offer including jet-skiing and banana boats, relax on a comfortable sun-lounger or grab some ice cream from a vendor on the promenade. With lots of hotels and accommodation all within walking distance, you’re sure to enjoy this little ray of sunshine.

Les Roques

Another beautiful Calella beach is that of Les Roques. The golden sands and deep blue sea look like they’re straight form a postcard. Plus, there’s lots to do for kids. With organised beach games and bouncy castles, it’s a haven for families. Enjoy plenty of relaxation on the sunbeds, access to water sports or just a splash in the Mediterranean.

Gran Playa

With its Blue Flag status, you can expect clean water and pristine sand. There’s a massive inflatable pier complete with trampolines and waterslides which will provide hours of fun for people of all ages. With lots of amenities including snack shops and showers, you’ll be able to spend an entire day in the sun soaking up the rays. There’s little wonder this is the perfect base for your Spanish getaway.

What to see

The old town showcase the best of Spanish architecture. Alleys snake through, all lined with whitewashed houses that take you to the town’s historic centre. It’s a great place to stroll with your loved one – one of our most popular choices for couples’ holidays. Also, you can get some great pictures while appreciating beautiful old churches and courtyards.

If you happen to visit in peak season when it’s extra hot, you can take the very adorable mini train which will take you to all the hot spots (and cool cafes too), without having to break a sweat.

The Pinya de Rosa botanical gardens are serene and beautiful; the perfect place to appreciate nature at its finest. Enjoy the fresh air, lush greenery and vibrant colours of the Mediterranean blooms.

Many hotels in the area offer in-house entertainment, and Calella is packed full of bars, pubs and restaurants, where you can eat, drink and be merry. The old town is great for an authentic Spanish fiesta with many family-owned bars which serve up some wonderful local wine and will always offer a warm welcome.

If it’s a party you’re after, head off to one of the major nightclubs that hosts themed nights, including foam parties and play loud dance music well into the early hours of the morning.

For a middle ground, there are many pubs that stay open until 2 am, often playing live music or karaoke, so you’re still guaranteed a fun night.

What to eat

Plenty of tapas bars and restaurants serve delicious local cuisine and provide an authentic atmosphere. Enjoy some nibbles with a glass of cava in the late afternoon and tuck into some traditional Spanish classic come dinnertime. The regional paella is packed full of flavour with fresh mussels, prawns and calamari - a must-have on your Calella holiday. For those less adventurous, or on a budget, there are loads of fast-food places as well as chain restaurants serving international cuisine.

Calella is a popular Spanish tourist resort which means there are plenty of places to go shopping. Small, local boutiques can be found on the side streets of the city centre, with bigger outlet malls further afield, that stock larger chains and well-known brands. There are beach shacks that sell all the holiday essentials and plenty of supermarkets where those on a self-catering holiday can stock up on food, drink and other necessary supplies.
