Benalmadena Holidays & Hotels

Hotels in Benalmadena

Whatever kind of holiday you’re looking for on your trip to Benalmadena, there’s an accommodation option to suit you. There are vibrant family-friendly resorts, romantic hideaways and cheap budget hotels all within walking distance of the town’s main attractions.

Nestled into the south of Spain, Benalmadena is rich in history, having been inhabited ever since the Bronze Age. Today, it’s a popular tourist location along the Costa del Sol that offers a sprinkle of everything a Spanish holiday town could possibly offer - from charming Andalusian buildings to lively, modern resorts. The beaches are just the very beginning of what Benalmadena has to offer, with temples, outdoor activities, historic monuments, parks, bars and clubs peppered around the town.

Where to stay

The Old Town

For a relaxing stay in a calmer part of town, head to Benalmadena Pueblo. Homely lodges and romantic boutiques are dotted around, giving easy access to Jardines del Muro and the Colomares Monument honoring Christopher Colombus. The old village features narrow streets and white houses topped with red tiles for a traditional Andalusian feel. Because of its location on a hillside, it also offers perfect holiday views out across the entire area.

Arroyo de la Miel

An 8-minute drive inland brings visitors to the picturesque district of Arroyo de la Miel. It features an old village way of life, with a more modern and residential feel while home to plenty of bars and restaurants rustling up a variety of cuisines. Be sure to unwind at the Plaza de Espana which is surrounded by gift shops and little cafes.

Benalmadena Costa

The seafront of Benalmadena is the place to be if you’re wanting to be in the midst of everything - nightlife, restaurants, and beaches. There are a number of budget-friendly apartments to rent for your stay, as well as high-end beachfront resorts for those wanting to roll out of bed and onto a sun lounger.

What to see

While visitors flock to the town for its beautiful beaches, there’s a lot to see if you fancy getting out and about on your holiday. Boat trips leave regularly from Benalmadena’s port area, where you can head out to catch a glimpse of nearby whales and dolphins. If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, swing by the Sea Life Benalmádena and Selwo Marina for a taste of the aquatic. The Selwo Marina features a host of interactive animal programmes with dolphins, sea lions and even penguins!

Those with a head for heights will love heading up to the peak of Mount Calamorro via the Benalmadena cable car. The 15-minute trip takes visitors up to the highest point of Benalmadena, at almost 800 metres altitude above sea level. Once at the top, there are views out across the Costa del Sol and, on good weather days, over to Gibraltar and even to the African Coast.

The beloved Tivoli World amusement park offers over 40 attractions for all members of the family, from high-octane rides to get your heart pumping to the more relaxing Ferris wheel. Themed restaurants are also available on-site, including an Andalusian brewery and a Texas grill.

Benalmadena has a wealth of nightlife options, from bars to discos and clubs. There are two main party areas; the first is Plaza Sol y Mar, otherwise known as 24-hour Square, in the centre of town. With bars, pubs and clubs just a stone’s throw away from each other, there’s plenty of entertainment to keep holiday revelers going until the early hours of the morning.

For dance floors aplenty combined with beautiful sea views, head towards The Marina area. Although this area can be a little pricier, it’s where you’ll find live music at the weekends, as well as a number of excellent cocktail bars.

What to eat

Benalmadena is a cosmopolitan hotspot for cuisine. Owing to its popularity with British tourists, there are a number of British pubs and restaurants dotted around the town, serving up carveries, burgers and fish and chips.

The Puerto Marina area leaves visitors in foodie heaven, however. There are places to suit all cravings and palates, including traditional Spanish restaurants, noodle bars and pizzerias.

Located down by the harbour area, Puerto Marina Shopping is open all-year-round. Despite its small size, it’s well worth swinging by to look at the range of fashion, accessories and gifts available.

For a taste of the local, pop to the street market in the parking lot of Tivoli World on a Friday morning. It runs from 10am until 2pm, and is the place for local produce, clothing, jewelry and toys.

quietest of all the resorts on the Costa Del Sol but the nicest with beautiful beaches. Plenty of bars and restaurants. Just souvenir shops and they all sell the same things. The public bus takes you to the Marina and Malaga, Torromollios, Fuengorola, Marbia all for just a few Euro and all with 20 - 30 minutes and the buses run until 2am Would recommend Torromollios for shopping and lively street entertainment

Amazing Resort

Benalmadena is the place to be for couples and families alike. The beach is fantastic, sandy and with shallow waters. With respect to nightlife, there is something for everyone around the Marina, and its the norm to see families pushing around their pram chairs in the middle of the night. Its soooo lively. There are also discotheques, bars and pubs for couples.

Something for all

For us, Benalmadena offers us what we are looking for in a holiday, rest, relaxation and if we want plenty of things to see and do. We have done so much over the years when visiting the resort, from taking a bus to Mijas and having a donkey ride, to jumping on the train and heading to Malaga and having a try of the many Malaga wines!! Bebnalmadena has the best beaches in Europe and we got a sunbed with sangria for €9 (that was for 2 of us) We noticed on this quick trip how much Arroyo had been cleaned up with lovely flower beds, it looked so clean and there was a great atmosphere.

The best thing about my stay was ...

One of the best things is the beautiful Paloma Park, we love feeding the ducks!!

Everyone was very friendly, good food, excellent transport system (bus and trains) Wonderful attractions in Benalmadena: Marina, Parque de la Paloma. Bioparc Fuengirola (zoo) is also very good. Dolphin cruise with Costasol was superb. Torremolinos is also very nice, very alive. And Malaga is an awesome town, very friendly, manageable, the Picasso Museum is a must. Mijas is different than the others, a beutiful little town. All in all, all cities visited were very nice.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Location in the middle of the Costa del Sol, but everything was very nice
