Alcudia Holidays & Hotels

Hotels in Alcudia

Nestled in the north east of the island of Mallorca, Alcudia is a popular family resort that attracts thousands of tourists every year for its beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Its traditional medieval town is home to cheap cosy villas, one-of-a-kind boutique hotels, and luxury spa resorts.

There are many sides to Alcudia, with ancient ruins sitting alongside a buzzing tourist scene that’s full of traditional restaurants and bars. Whatever you’re after from your holiday, Alcudia is ready to tick all the boxes!

Where to stay

Puerto de Alcudia

To the north of Alcudia is the port area, popular with young families and couples looking for a beach holiday to remember. As such, it’s got a wealth of apartments, villas and large-scale resorts to suit all budgets and tastes. Playa de Alcudia, with its calm waters and white beach, is where you’ll find visitors sunbathing or trying their hand at various watersports. Meanwhile, the nearby large water park Hidropark offers family-friendly fun in the shape of adrenaline-pumping rides, mini golf and trampolines.

Bellevue area

The Bellevue area is particularly popular with those looking to get the most out of the Alcudia nightlife. It’s a short walk from the beach, but it’s mainly centered around the main strip in town, Avenue Pere Mas i Reus. There are plenty of budget-friendly accommodation options for every holiday type here, as well as bars, clubs and restaurants to keep partiers going until the early hours.

Playa Muro

Playa Muro is based just outside of Alcudia, but it’s a firm favourite for those wanting a quieter area to relax and unwind in. The beautifully clean, white sandy beach is the main draw, and many of the large resorts are barely more than a few minutes’ walk away.

What to see

Thousands flock to Alcudia every year for a visit to its stunning beaches, but those who don’t take some time to visit the Old Town are missing a trick. Restored medieval walls wrap themselves around the old town, providing an opportunity for history buffs and photo takers looking for that enviable holiday snap. Take a stroll along the winding narrow streets (or even along the top of the old walls themselves), and you’ll stumble upon traditional cafes, street markets, the former bullfighting ring, and quaint little shops.

Another unique spot in Alcudia includes the Roman Remains of Pollentia, a city founded by the Romans in 123 BC. Swing by the site to see the ruins of the city, including its large theatre.

From Irish pubs to karaoke and live entertainment, Alcudia has an impressive nightlife scene that could rival fellow Majorcan resort Magaluf. Most of the bars and clubs are centred around Avenue Pere Mas i Reus, where there’s enough buzzing nightclubs to keep holiday-goers entertained into the early hours.

The Banana Disco Complex sits over in the Port d’Alcudia area and gets particularly lively at the weekends. That’s when people from all over Majorca descend upon the mix of clubs and bars for a weekend to remember! As well as the big nightclubs, there are also a number of places to get your Spanish salsa and Latin dance moves out.

What to eat

Foodies in search of a traditional Spanish meal will not be disappointed in Alcudia an find something for everyone, where there are a number of inexpensive and high-end eateries to suit all budgets. Expect tapas and fresh fish to be a staple of most restaurants’ menus. There are also a number of fine dining opportunities for those really wanting a meal to remember.

As well as local cuisine, the area also has steak houses, pizzerias and Chinese restaurants. Whatever your stomach wants, it’ll most likely find in Alcudia!

The best place to pick up gifts and holiday souvenirs is in the small traditional shops in the town centre. And don’t miss the open-air market in the old town which takes place every Tuesday and Sunday. Against the backdrop of cobbled streets and charming buildings, stallholders sell bags, leather belts, clothing, soaps, pottery and more. Get ready for a spot of haggling!

Both big international brands and souvenirs can also be found in Port d’Alcudia, where dozens of shops are scattered along the modern promenade.

Great for families

Alcudia has beautiful safe and clean beaches. The old town is lovely. The marina has some fantastic boats and bars/restaurants. There's plenty of play areas for the kids and lots to do. It is one of the few places I have been where I would definitely go again. I did however, find it expensive. I was shocked at the price of just about everything (although prices vary widely so do shop around.)

simply the best

Just go, you have plenty of space on the beach , the water is warm, and there are different types of water sports (can some-one please tell me what the big orange and black boat is called? as we couldn't find out.) Take a trip up to the market it's on a sunday and tuesday and goes in and out all the streets it's big. There is a nice lot of gifty type shops that you can wander in and out, plenty of eating 'out' places too, bars everywhere also.

Really great range of good restaurants

Great beach, fantastic range of fine restaurants, even if some were a bit more expensive than other locations. Shopping was only ok, with plentiful supply of the usual resort/souvenir/beachwear outlets but not a lot more. Great variety of walks - the beach, the canal and lake area etc so no excuses for avoiding exercise. The historic area of old Alcudia well worth a visit, only 20 minutes leisurely stroll from the port.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Not a 'pub' destination. There are enough pubs, but not too many.

harbour end a delight

We stayed in puerto de alcudia not far from the harbour. This end of the town is lovely and very picturesque. I would not wish to stay at the other end of the resort as a large part of it resembles a British resort such as Skegness.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The location, nice resort, good access to other resorts

Alcudia Aug 2010

Alcudia has everything, it is very family friendly and the beach is perfect for small children. there are two parts to Alcudia, the port and the town, but in both areas you will find many bars restaurants and even disco'.we went to Cheers Bar which allows children in until midnight then adults only untill 5am, this gets very busy then, also Bells is another good place for young adults who like to party. We ate in many restaurants and had great food in all of them, the best place we found for both cost and quality was Funny Bunny's Bar run by a funny guy called Paco! Alcudia is the place people return to every year, I have been going there every year for the last 5 yrs and have made some great friend who welcome us back every year.

The best thing about my stay was ...

It is fun, lively and has everything you need for a great holiday or short stay.
