Been to the Algarve a few times and I think this was my favourite. Beech was great, free entertainment every evening, locals very freindly. The choice of restaurant is amazing and with prices at either end of the scale just be careful and check before you go in, one just off from the beech was showing a lunch menu however when I sat down I was given the evening menu - wow! In the main the food was great, if you like fresh fish you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Evenings in the square.

Great destination

Have holidayed here approx 10 times, have stayed in other Algarve locations and other countries but always something missing, so always scurry straight back here next time around. Lots of restaurants to choose from ( although “A Vela” is my favourite) . The beach approach area has been modernised in recent years and is now host to some big beach parties and other activities, seems to be an official venue so are well organised, though, not far away, it is peaceful and quiet,so all ages and types can be happy here.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Beaches, restaurants, relaxed atmosphere.

Great resort, great food, clean & friendly

Stayed at the Rocha Brava resort for 12 days in a 2 bed ground floor apartment on a HB basis. Breakfast at the restaurant was buffet style with a choice of both hot & cold food including bacon & scrambled eggs along with a variety of frsh fruit & yogurt. Staff very attentive, especially during the evening meal where 3 courses were served each night. Live music adjacent to the restaurant 3 times a week. A choice of 3 pools with the largest also having a plunge pool & a kids pol too. The pool was cleaned each morning before 8am as well as surrounding area. A quiet resort over all with 2 decent shops & 4 places to eat for lunch as well as a pizzeria opposite the entrance to the resort. A bus takes you to Carvoeiro 3 times a day or 5 euros in a taxi. Worth a visit, especially at night as well as having a great beach. Would recommend hiring a sea kayak to appreciate the multitude of coves & caves along the shore line with some having bats residing inside. Coastal walk is a great way to explore the area with the added bonus of having a light house that lights up the resort at night adding to the experience. The coastal path takes you to a number of beaches nearby if you grow weary of siting by the pool. Tennis courts on site as well as a gym. The gym cost is a bit steep at 7.50E a visit as the equipment needs an upgrade. Highly recommended for families if you like the idea of a quiet holiday with the option of days out, including Slide & Splash & Aqualand.

The best thing about my stay was ...

buzzing at night with a great choice of places to eat.

greatlocation great people

loads to do for all the family. Places to go - DEFINITELY the Indian on Restaurant hill - O Indiano. Great service, amazing food for a good price. Boneca Bar at Algar Seco - amazing location Happy's - very happy man who likes to get you drunk on port - also the food is amazing and huge To go out - Round up Saloon is the place to be - big Will stands outside to give you a friendly welcome. They do karaoke and have live music. The square near the beach has entertainment almost every night and opposite round up there is also music/karaoke provided by mungo's bar. great cocktails at bar havana (6-8 2 for 1) and bar talvez. get a hire car to explore the other beachers - carvoeiro beach is quite crowded and nowhere near as good as some of the others.

something for everyone

A lovely town which never fails to welcome, Carvoeiro boasts a mixture of traditional Portugese architecture with a modern twist. The main pedestrianised area has now been completed next to the beach, offering a fabulous venue and focal point for open-air entertainment & gatherings. The popular beach is well-maintained and has good public loos. Surrounded by cafes, restaurants and bars, Carvoeiro has a very good selection of eateries for all pockets and tastes, from extravagant Italian dining and Portugese Stone steaks, to toasted sandwiches and full English breakfasts. You will mormally pay more the closer you get to the beach, though never more than 2.1/2 euros for a decent coffee with a nice view. Shopping is predictable - the usual blow-up swimming accessories, cheap bracelets, poor taste fridge magnets etc. But there are a few nice clothing shops if you look closely! This is a town for sunworshipping on the beach or eating in favourite restaurant - ours is Happys but don't tell everyone or you wont get a table!

The best thing about my stay was ...

The town has a lovely safe atmosphere in the evening

Carvoeiro is a small hilly resort with many excellent restaurants and bars. Our favourite restaurant is 'A Marisqueira' at the top of Estrada do Farol which you really need to reserve in advance. Next door is the 'Acordeao' bar which is well worth a visit as the staff are always very friendly. Opposite is a very good Italian eatery called 'Villa Medici' and down in the square at the beachfront is a good restaurant called 'Martins Grill' which caters for most tastes.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Not too busy not too quiet!

When we arrived we were told our booking was cancelled, was not informed by Alpharooms.com. The lady at reception has what it takes! She did her magic, and pesto we were upgraded to the Villa side. Fabulous accommodation, just newly renovated and has everything you need, home away from home. Spotless clean. Plenty of room. You have to provide your own toiletries, etc. Great stay overall, nice place to relax and be away from the hassle and bustle of Albufeira. I traveled with my two daughters 17 and 7 years. We had a great time, (Mom and daughters vacation without Dad and the two boys.) Will visit again.
