Cheap Holidays to Bali
The island of Bali is Indonesia’s number one tourist attraction, and it’s easy to see why. The beaches are everything you could ask for, with pristine white sand, tropical temperatures and excellent surfing and snorkelling. Bali has so much more to offer than just sun, sea and sand, though. It’s a place of awe-inspiring beauty, with lush terraced rice fields, dramatic volcanoes, hidden stone temples and dense jungles. It’s an explorer’s dream, and attracts everyone from backpackers to families and honeymooners. Known as the ‘Island of the Gods’, Bali is also a deeply spiritual place, with colourful Hindu festivals and religious processions a common sight throughout the year.
Visit a spiritual sanctuary
Ubud is the centre of culture and spirituality in Bali. It’s a fascinating place with a laid-back personality, nestled amongst rice paddies, lotus ponds and green forests. Even if you’re not staying here it’s a must-visit, especially if you’re into culture, crafts and history. It’s packed with museums, arts and crafts stalls and amazing restaurants and cafés. It’s also the home of the sacred monkey forest, where you can see Indonesia’s macaque monkeys and visit the temples.
Relax on the east coast
The easy-going resort of Sanur in the east is perfect for families. There’s a good selection of local restaurants and bars, and a gorgeous white sand beach with shallow water and gentle waves – ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Although it was the first tourist resort in Bali, Sanur’s culture is relatively unspoilt. A nearby attraction is Pura Blanjong temple, which is built from coral and dates back to the 10th century. Sanur is also in a good location for day-tripping to Ubud and Bali’s southern resorts.
A holiday paradise in Nusa Dua
Nusa Dua, a peninsula in the south of the island, is Bali’s resident all-inclusive haven. It’s purpose-built for tourists and has some of the most luxurious hotels around, as well as an upmarket shopping centre and an 18-hole golf course. Exceptionally well-kept, the beaches and gardens are beautiful. It’s the place to stay if you want pure relaxation and luxury.
