Sidari is located on the northern coast of the Greek island of Corfu approximately one hour north of Corfu Town. The Blue Flag beach and lively night life keep visitors from all over Europe coming back for more. The eroding coastline has created some very distinctive coves and inlets along the Sidari shore with the Canal d’Amour the most famous. The resort centre is built along the main stretch of beach between the small harbour in the east and this most famous of rocky outcrops to the west.

Buzzing nightlife

Sidari beach is split into three parts with the main beach, a central long stretch of sand with calm and shallow waters, making it the ideal swimming spot for families with small children. Sidari is also well known for its buzzing nightlife with many cafes, bars, clubs and tavernas serving both Greek and International cuisine. There are also many shops that stay open until the early hours. The local water park is perfect for the whole family and only a short distance from Sidari.

Explore the coastline

If lounging around on the beach all day isn’t your scene, take the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and stroll along the cliffs or find quaint unspoilt villages inland. Nearby Peroulades is a beautiful old village with a small but perfectly formed beach. Beyond Peroulades, the coast is heavily forested with occasional beaches punctuating the scented pine.

Things to do in Sidari

On the beach in Sidari

The beautiful Blue Flag beach is one of the nicest beaches on the northern coast of Corfu. The broad, sandy beach runs in a gentle curve from the old harbour, jutting out into the Ionian Sea, round to the natural outcrop of the Canal d’Amour to the west. The main beach is lined with loungers and parasols as well as places to eat and drink. Water sports are the order of the day and you will be spoilt for choice in Sidari. The rocky area to the north of the main beach is a natural wonder with the soft sand stone eroding over the years to form rocky inlets and natural diving ledges. This area is very popular as an alternative to the soft sand of the main beach.

Top Tip:

Folklore suggests that couples who successfully navigate the narrow inlet of the Canal d’Amour together will eventually marry. Try it if you dare.

Eat and drink in Sidari

Sidari is extremely popular with European holidaymakers and the range of places to eat and drink throughout the day reflects this. There are some lovely tavernas along the sea front and a range of good authentic Greek cafes and small bars but the majority of the options have a more international flavour. The harbour end of the resort is very busy with the main street, from the cross roads, running west along the length of the beach. It is lined with small Greek tavernas as well as take away restaurants, bars and international options. Most places are open late into the evening. Alternatively, you can try the area around the Canal d’Amour to the west. This area is slightly quieter and you are more likely to find a good authentic meal.

Top Tip:

Try Peroulades for a treat. The cliff top restaurant on the beach is worth the short trip.

Sidari nightlife

The main strip in Sidari is the focus of the late night fun. The bars are busy from 10pm through to the early hours with some staying open until the last reveller chooses to leave. You will find a wide range of live music with tribute acts particularly popular. Sidari also manages to attract some of the best DJs and live acts throughout the summer months. If you are in Sidari with your family but want to stay out late, don’t worry. The resort retains a nice family feel and a lot of the bars welcome families with play area to keep the kids happy.

Shopping in Sidari

The majority of the tourist area is a mix of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. The shops are largely aimed at holidaymakers as you would imagine. Holiday essentials and souvenirs seem to flow into the street from every other outlet. There are some local mini markets and banks for anybody considering self-catering. The real attraction of this area is the late night shopping culture that exists. It is a pleasure to stroll the streets once the sun has gone down – the cooler air and twinkling lights give the area a different feel. Look out for the local artisan stores specialising in local gold and silver jewellery as well as ceramics and handmade local lace products. For a grander shopping experience, take the bus to Corfu Town and explore the street of the old town.

Things to see in Sidari

You should visit the Canal d’Amour and test out the romantic legend. The water is amazing and the natural erosion has created some incredible coves and great little natural shelves for diving. To further discover the wonder of this coastline, take a sunset cruise around to the west coast with boats leaving from Sidari harbour. Across to the east lies the former fishing village of Kassiopi, now a beautiful holiday resort built around the picture perfect harbour and bay. For a full day out, get the local bus to Corfu Town, one hour south and explore the ancient streets of the old town. Parts of the town are thousands of years old and the impressive fortress is a must see. For more simple pleasures take the family to the local water park and ride the chutes and slides.

Sidari is amazing

This is our 7th time at Sidari over about 15 years and it is just as wonderful now as ever. A few things have had to close but that's understandable because of what the Country is going through at the moment. I do believe it will come back. The beaches are the best on the island. So romantic too if that's what you want.

A very picturesque Place

Sidari is a mixture from the open coast line to the very lush green backdrop of the hills. Not a single tower block in site. May is quieter than the height of the season, so nice if you are not into loud clubbing scenes. There are loads of lovely walks and secluded bays. Plenty of tavernas to stop and while away the hours in the heat of the day. The greek laid back life is simply a wonderful.

Something for everyone.

Sidari is predominately a tourist resort but it is an excellent place to travel on a budget and you can find exactly what you are looking for. You can still experience tradiational Greek food and entertainment. You can relax in the Greek countryside. All of the pools are free so you don't have to use your hotel pool if you fancy a change. The beaches are clean and the views are amazing. The only problem as with the whold of Greece are mosquitos. Make sure you take plenty of repellent and you won't suffer!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Great resort for everything you want to do

Sidari is a great resort for all kinds of entertainment. You cand find nice and quiet tavernas or loud ones with shows and karaoke or clubs in the center of Sidari where the nightlife is. Many distractions on the beach also from rental of boats to parasailing and skijets. The prices in Sidari are reasonable and quite low compared to other resorts on the island, like Paleokastritsa. On the downside I think there are too many english style pubs with english food and english football matches. It should be a resort for tourists not for english tourists and their need for football. The restaurant Three Little Pigs offers great greek nights with fire dancing, a must see greek spectacle. The Canal D'Amour offers great views with narrow bays to dive in.

The best thing about my stay was ...

A resort that has it all.
