Roda is a charming, quaint holiday village on the island of Corfu, nestling on the northern coast. Once a hard working fishing village, Roda has retained the charm and authenticity that first attracted visitors to the area. The area is popular with families looking for a peaceful and relaxing break. The bustling sea front and quiet back streets of the town provide the perfect backdrop to the wonderfully inviting beach and small harbour.

Take a stroll in the old village

Enjoy the beautiful, gently shelving beach and soak up the sun. Water sports are on offer if the pace is too slow for you. The old fishing village is perfect for a leisurely stroll in the evening before enjoying a meal in one of the local restaurants. Unlike the neighbouring resort of Sidari, Roda is much quieter although the lively locals add some colour to the local tavernas.

Take a day trip to Corfu Town

The northern coast is built for exploring whether on foot, on a bike or even on the back of a pony. The mountains and olive groves are picturesque and the views back down across the coast are stunning. Further afield, the bright lights of Sidari await and the splendour of Corfu Town in the south is worthy of a day trip.

Things to do in Roda

On the beach in Roda

The beach in Roda is the star of the show. The broad stretch of beach is covered in soft sand and the shallow waters of this protected bay make for perfect paddling conditions. The dramatic mountains of the Pantokratoras range stand over the coastline as a reminder of the rugged interior of Corfu. The beach is lined with pleasingly rustic tavernas and bars and the long line of loungers and parasols will be hard to resist. Water sports enthusiasts will enjoy the wide range of activities available in the area.

Eat and drink in Roda

The sea front is relatively busy with tavernas, beach bars and cafes busy day and night. The surrounding streets are great to walk through at night with an excellent range of both small family run establishments and larger restaurants aimed at the holiday market. The main road along the sea front is perfect for an early evening stroll and a cocktail or cold beer before picking out your evening taverna. The local produce in Corfu is excellent and the authentic local tavernas should be your first port of call.

Top Tip:

Beautiful Kassiopi and lively Sidari offer excellent alternatives if you need a night away from the peace and quiet.

Roda nightlife

Family nightlife in Roda revolves around the tavernas and small bars of the town and sea front. Do not expect wild nights of excess and dusk ‘til dawn clubbing. SIdari is a short distance along the coast and offers a more international flavour complete with lively beach bars and late night clubs.

Shopping in Roda

The small streets of Roda offer a range of stores from small supermarkets to souvenir stalls and places selling typical beach essentials. There are also some local speciality boutiques selling leather goods, jewellery and local delicacies. For a real shopping experience you really need to head to Corfu Town, approximately one hour away to the south. Make a day of it and explore the beautiful harbour before diving into the surrounding streets. The picturesque centre is busy with a great range of both local and international stores as well as places to eat and drink.

Things to see in Roda

Explore the surrounding countryside either on foot or horse back. There are organised tours available and the tranquil countryside is waiting to be discovered. Further inland is the imposing peak of Pantakratoras – the highest peak in Corfu. It is worth hiring a car in the village and driving up towards the mountains. Along the way you will pass through remote hill top villages, virtually unchanged by modern life. The views back across Corfu are amazing and on a clear day you will be able to pick out the islands of the Ionian Sea.

We Recommend

The Old House

Situated directly on the beach, this lively taverna is great place to spend an evening with your family. The beachside terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a local dish with the stunning bay and surrounding mountains providing the back drop.

The Beach House

This ever popular beachside bar is a great place to stop for a cold drink as the sun goes down. There’s a lovely welcoming interior bar as well as a terrace with a view to die for.

Assumption of the Virgin Mary – 15th August

This national holiday is celebrated across the island with one big party. Not to be missed if your visit coincides with the festivities as the locals come out to play.

The seafront strip was so beautiful, friendly and relaxing. Speak just a few words in Greek and the table staff/owners love you. Friendly waves and greetings every day, really nice food, nothing too much trouble. Even better, no drunks!! The whole pace of life was just so easy and relaxing.

The best thing about my stay was ...

People, food, beach, sunsets.

Great Resort

Roda is a small resort but has lots of restaurants, many of them being on the beach front. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. There are also numerous bars - Oscars and the Drunken Sailor have tribute acts most nights. Others have quizzes and bingo whilst Pirates Bar has a full sports programme and is very lively. The beach is good and the sunbeds (priced at 5 euros for two beds and an umbrella) are extremely comfortable with thick mattresses. Roda is a relaxing but lively resort. Everyone is so friendly and helpful and many people return year after year.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Friendliness of the people. Quality of the food.

Roda, a great place for a relaxing holiday

Roda is a pleasant tourist resort that is not too big and at present is able to cater for the chips with everything tourist as well as the more adventurous gastronome. The local beach is a little small but within fifteen minutes drive there is a fantastic beach at Agios Stefanos. The sand is smooth, the water clear and safe for children with enough fish life to keep the enthusiastic snorkeller happy for hours. I would recommend Roda for anyone who wants to relax but if you are into clubbing all night to all the latest sounds, then go to Cavos at the south end of the island

The best thing about my stay was ...

The gentle, laid back, no problem attitude of almost eveyone there.

A great little resort, fairly quiet with plenty of places to eat and drink both traditional Greek and English. Oscars is a good bar to eat and drink also good tribute acts, really friendly staff. The beach is lovely, nice and shallow and warm. Makis Studios is excellent, very clean with a nice pool and bar. Loved it

The best thing about my stay was ...

Nice quiet location about 50 yards off the beach and bars

Quiet and unspoilt

Roda is a place that the same people return to year after year, it is quiet and the nightlife is very low key, one or two lively bars but the majority of people enjoy a nice meal in a taverna and then have a few drinks afterwards. Definitely not for the 18-30 club types, ideal for families and very little noise after midnight. A special word for Angelo and Anna at the Alexandros pool, they have great food, reasonably priced drinks and a great fun filled atmosphere, which goes on day and night.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The friendly and welcoming people

Roda - small but busy enough

Roda is a fairly small resort. It is very flat so people who have difficulty with hills may find this acceptable, although sometimes roads and pavements are not the best. Plenty of great restaurants, a nice enough beach, plenty of supermarkets and shops. Not too many pubs but the ones we visited had a very good range of cheap snacks during the day and in the evening the alcohol was strong!

The best thing about my stay was ...

Quiet, but bustling

Lovely chilled town. No hassle.

Roda is a tiny resort on the very north tip of Corfu. There are plenty of taverns, restaurants and bars but without the pumping music you experience in most tourist areas. Plenty of entertainment in the bars which are all family friendly. Nemos even has a huge indoor play area and bouncy castle.

The best thing about my stay was ...

The quiet!

Very quiet & basic.

Roda is a small quiet village type place on the beach. If you just want the sun & a bar then its fine. However if you want shopping, lots of restaurants & bars within walking distance stay away. You need a car if you want to do and see more.

The best thing about my stay was ...

Not full of loud british tourists.

quiet village

Roda is a quiet village with very little to do. Nemo's caffe/bar is great as it has a play area and bouncy castle at the back - so great for kids. Newport Restaurant was poor!
